The thing about rallies is that the candidate is preaching to the choir. Those supporters were going to be on his side anyway. Rallies are not a method of capturing your opponents supporters, unless they just decide to join the herd and stop thinking for themselves. I question the effectiveness for that reason. However; it may scare your own party faithful into line if they were thinking of defecting. (If the ship will stay afloat, i want to remain onboard)

Trump rallies do two things..1.) the President can speak directly to voters 2.) his rallies tend to drive the news cycle, even if a station does not broadcast them.

I give Trump props for changing the date but the fact he chose Tulsa, OK on the original date is pretty fucking damning if you ask me.

I wonder how much money Donnie will stiff Tulsa for(security,cleanup etc.), he does have a track record for this.

It's called voter enthusiasm..much needed if you are going to get voters to the polls...  Proven by Trump's rallies before the 2016 election..vs. Hillary's ..Help me I've fallen and I can't get up rallies that did not visit all the major states..hence low voter enthusiasm in many states.

Tulsa Oklahoma experienced looting/vandalism/rock throwing during May 31/June 1 protests...No curfew..hmmm.

They tell them what they want to hear but they never follow through. Politicians on both sides of the aisle are dream sellers. Trump has done better than most but he still prioritizes corporations and the mega rich over regular Americans. He said he'd drain the swamp and he's shown himself to be the creature from the black lagoon. Still, I give credit where it is due and he has done enough to garner my support for a second term.

The Oklahoma Supreme Court on Friday rejected a request to require everyone attending President Donald Trump's rally in Tulsa this weekend to wear a face mask and maintain social distancing inside the arena to guard against the spread of the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, Tulsa's Republican mayor, G.T. Bynum, rescinded a day-old curfew he had imposed for the area around the BOK Center ahead of the rally. The curfew took effect Thursday night and was supposed to remain until Sunday morning, however Trump tweeted Friday that he had spoken to Bynum and that the mayor told him he would rescind it.

Brilliance, just like the idiots here in Arizona...full speed ahead and now record numbers, hospitals to capacity and cities are forcing public mask use.

Makes me wonder why the lack of intelligence in the face of evidence. If clowns like these or that dope Ron Paul need examples, come visit sunny Arizona and take a tour of our over capacity hospitals full of people not looking for a gyno doctor.

Visited Mayo Clinic in Phoenix today and no signs of capacity let alone overcapacity....go there twice a week looks the same .

This isnt an AZ thread of course but what the crap is the problem with Ducey playing games? Take a strong stand and quit sucking up to Trump! The state numbers are out of control because he folded and opened things up...and the dopes down here agree with his way of thinking and now we are in a really really bad spot. I still see low percentages of people distancing and wearing masks...and some actually think it is about rights and liberties. Its like we forget about living in a society and thinking of others than ourselves. If you dont want to think of others, leave a society and go live alone in a remote cabin up in Payson.

Update: 3,246 new cases yesterday, and just Wednesday we tripled the average daily detection's from just May 31 in 18 days. Yep, no problem, think I will go visit my buddy in Tulsa, might be safer. Via the Internet I can keep track of when we quadruple the rate. Too bad my nearest hospital is a Banner, they may be full before I need them and I will have to check into Hotel Ducey, probably a tent in the desert. Or maybe they will buy a hotel, plenty of empty ones right now. Living next door to the highest infection rate Zip code in the state feels a little like Russian Roulette.
