Since when is LISTENING and forming a cognitive response doing nothing? There is something to be said for civil dialogue...but the left is almost incapable.
Who was it that said people should do nothing anyway?
It's easy to when an argument when you get to manufacture what the opposition says ya?
Here comes Bowlslit running to defend his butt buddy Slim. Do you and Slim go camping like they did on Brokeback Mountain?
Bowlslit do you sit there quietly, like a good boy, while your wife gets cucked by another man or do you protest? Do you turn your back at least? Or do you just sit there and take it?
I'm sure for years black people tried reasoning and listening to gain freedom from slavery, and then civil rights. But yeah, let's just sit here and listen to a woman from an administration that probably none of them voted for. Because that dialogue thing worked so well for so many years right?
Let's be honest though Bowlslit, if the graduates at any Service Academy did the same thing to Al Sharpton, would you still have the same response that they should just sit there and listen to him? Or would you be ok with a little protest at that point?
I honestly don't blame DeVos or the students for this. But whoever booked her to do the commencement speech should have some explaining to do.

Are you rather proud of being a keyboard warrior or not? It's rather easy to say things like you've said over the internet about this person you speak of. I know you think you're being funny but I guarantee you that you would never say such things if you and I were in the same building let alone in the same room.
I always have to laugh at the internet trolls anyway because they usually have alligator mouths connected to the azz of a canary.
Moving on to the subject...I wonder why you attempt to compare current situations with I don' know um over 100 years ago. We know people weren't as enlightened as we are now only it's the people from the middle east and the liberals who seem to want to act like cave men.
And then you have to compare Al Sharpton to Betsy Devoss. Seriously, Al Sharpton is a professional crybaby while you probably couldn't even name 3 controversial things that Devoss has done before she was appointed to her post.
No wonder you had to stoop to the level you did, because you're terrible at debate.

Bowlslit, we all know this is you. You can drop the act that it's not. You make the same argument points that you used to and you rush in to try and save your boyfriend Slim all the time. Yes, I would say this to you in person, to your face. And you would do nothing but stand there.
It's completely fair to compare this situation to civil institutions from years ago. How do you think HBCU's started? You think it was because white people encouraged black people to go get an education years ago? Or do you think it's because segregation prevented them from attending traditional universities for years? But yeah, go ahead and try and discount that like it never happened.
Can't understand why these students wouldn't want to listen to someone from the Trump Administration, someone who a majority of them probably didn't vote for. Can't understand why they wouldn't want to listen to a rich, old, white lady, someone that they have nothing in common with. Can't understand why they wouldn't want to listen to someone that compared HBCU's to her "school of choice" philosophy. Pretty sure HBCU's didn't start because universities were so accommodating to minorities years ago.
Yes, the Sharpton comparison is legit. It's putting an unpopular speaker in front of a bunch of people that don't agree with them, or the group the speaker represents. I would really like an explanation from whoever booked DeVos to do this. Once again, I don't blame her or the students for this reaction. This just seems like a funny bet two people had that actually happened. "Hey I bet I can get someone from the Trump Administration to give a commencement speech at an HBCU!".

You make valid points.
But I need to point out that the instance which is being referenced here is a microcosm of what's been happening across the country, and that in and of itself is a tragedy.
Just because a person has an adversarial view point does not mean that person does not have the right to express their opinions.
The booing and hissing going on in this situation pales in comparison to what has transpired in previously attempted speeches at other universities.
Things have gotten so out of hand regarding the lefts attempts at silencing contrarian views, that I am tempted to applaud these students simply because they did not riot ... and that's a sad reflection on what is going on in this country.
Civil discourse is lost on too many

I feel like DeVos has had ample time to express her views in regards to education. TBH, I don't have anything against her. Her views really don't mean much to me at all. I just think it's funny that other posters admonish the graduates for booing someone in this instance. You're correct, they didn't riot and, sad as it is, I guess they be commended for that? I don't know. But how else should they express their displeasure with someone that is representing an administration they don't agree with?
I don't think it matters which member of the Trump Admin showed up at that graduation, the grads probably would have responded the same way. This would be like having Roger Goodell induct Tom Brady into the NFL Hall of Fame, just a bad idea all around. But calling the graduates uncivilized and ingrates for booing and turning their backs is wrong. Uncivilized would have meant rioting. It's just humorous that posters who have called others "snowflakes" because they don't like Trump, are now admonishing students for booing someone. Posters who have said that others should go back to their "safe spaces" now all of a sudden need their own safe spaces because some students turned their backs on a rich, old, white lady.
Boo hoo,
