Talk about unintended consequences. This is exactly what most conservatives were talking about when we said that this would result in incentivising border crossings. The talk of amnesty and the dream act have done just that.
hundreds of thousands from south America are rushing to cross to be a part of the amnesty, and the President has asked for 3.8 billion dollars to turn away the children that he tried to accommodate.
This is a direct result of soft talk on the border. This has no happy ending.

which ones are the conservatives who actually did something to secure the border and turn away all that cheap labor big companies have been making so much money on by employing under the table?

Obama is refusing to visit the U.S.-Mexican border,
where a flood of illegal immigrants continues to overwhelm the region..... to fund raise in Austin with a director of a pro-illegal immigration film...
Why should the President be unnecessarily exposed to scabies, head lice or highly contagious tuberculosis touring Illegal immigration facilities. It makes more sense for him to just ignore another crisis in favor of fundraising..

(wrong answer buzzer sound) Conservatives want students and low skilled workers to fit that mold.
I think this post by you is simple deflection.

maybe, but rick was talking about conservatives who had an issue with the way we are handling immigration. i was just wondering who those conservatives were who have actually done something to secure the border or solve the problem some other way because all i've seen are "conservatives" who talk a lot about immigration but don't do anything as their contributors enjoy cheap labor and a workforce they don't have to insure.

Right. I think most GOP are happy with the status quo. Most posture heavy wit b plenty of bluster, but have no real solutions.
But as I said, when amnesty and the dream act were debated and discussed most conservatives were dead on when they said that it would incentivise illegal crossings.

i don't think there is a solution at this point, at least not one that our fucked up government can put together. i think the only thing we can realistically do from here is just try and deport the immigrants who commit the more serious crimes.

The first thing to know is the Feds don't want a solution. This crisis is just another bullet in the gun for left wing democrats to continue to grow the government. Remember, its always about politics, never about what's right or wrong, fair or just. The answer to them is always more government and more money. That money is our children's money by the way.
He could end this immediately with a repeal of the Feinstein amendment which allows these kids to present themselves at the border and seek asylum.
More unskilled immigrants means greater competition for jobs among the lower class, where is the compassion in that? Thus allowing more reason to keep them on the dole and continue assistance into perpetuity, and thus more votes to be counted upon.
The 3.7 billion he is asking for is larger than the entire US Border Patrol budget of 2013. Comes out to be around 60K per child.
Its complete insanity.

Oh and how much is this going to cost to build AND maintain again?
Please refrain from using idiotic "military labor" rationale, lets not pull the "Iraq will be paid for with the oil we get for free" reasoning which insults anyone with intelligence.
So how much to build, how much to maintain THOUSANDS of miles of this border wall...

There isn't a decent golf course near the border but he did find time to drink beer and shoot pool. What a fool.

The security fence along the Israel-Egypt border works well ..and it covers ravines and mountains,,The fence has stemmed the tide of illegal immigration while crippling drug smuggling into the country...
..and the fence around the White House is quite effective..

People need to understand the current disaster has nothing to do with border security. These kids aren't trying to sneak across, they don't have to. They just walk right up and present themselves. And then we spend more money on them per capita then we do poor children who are citizens. The outrage over this should be bi-partisan, but people are too dumb and entrenched in supporting their "team" to realize it.

the immigration issue is the perfect example of an issue both sides talk a lot about but neither wants to solve, or probably knows how to at this point. as we all know, this isn't a new issue by any means. yet, not a single thing has been done to put a dent into it.

I don't understand why can't illegal immigrants go to nice cities in their countries instead of coming to US. They are welcomed if they have a good education, job transfers and vacations. They can't come if they are having no job money. Young ladies and boys, don't spread your legs for having babies without money. I do love people but we don't want overcrowds, more crimes and bad traffics in US.
Google: Mexico City, Mexico and Guatemala City, Guatemala and Honduras City, Honduras. They are beautiful towns.
i used to talk to these guys who get busted in the US being here illegally just to find out their stories. the answer to your question is simply that life is so much better for them here because it's obviously a higher standard of living and they are offered good jobs with good pay (by their standards at least). so they congregate at certain apartment complexes and similar places, make their money, live cheaply, western union money back home to their families and have a much better life here than they would back home.
some of these people, particularly the women, go through hell to get here. but, once they get here, with the opportunities they are given, it's much better here.

What's your idea? To continue to expend $10,000 per illegal per year on their maintenance? (And yes, that is NET of any taxes they may pay). That adds up pretty damn fast.
Thousands of miles of border or TENS of MILLIONS of ILLEGALS?? The poorest of the poor, unskilled, illiterate, criminals, sick...........

And I start to think both sides actually want to escalate the situation so they can score big political points on their respective parties.

No question, its the ultimate wedge issue, an opportunity to fire up people on both sides, regardless of the logic. Now u got Jesse Jackson getting pissed cuz the Feds wanna splurge on non citizens as Chicago and other places burn.
