Democrats believe that every child should have the opportunity for high-quality education. That's the pathway to economic growth for the individual and the country.
President Roosevelt guaranteed the government would pay for education for all veterans when he signed the G.I. Bill of Rights.
The Truman Commission Report proposed federal subsidies for higher education that laid the groundwork for the community college system.
A little-known provision of the Affordable Care Act eliminated Sallie Mae, making student loans more affordable.
These initiatives promoted equity in education and focused resources on those at the lowest income levels. It helped to make sure everyone has at least the basic skills to succeed in the labor force

The data is plain. The economy does better under democrats. Job growth is better, stock market does better, and the gdp grows more. You can go all the way back to Truman and verify it. And it does not matter where you start — Truman or even as late as Reagan.
So, if it was not democratic policy(ies), what was it?
The ones listed above are a good starting point. But there are very many others you can choose.
Better education and more equal opportunity for education is a good thing, especially if one of the benefits is to bring up the income levels of poorer (usually less-educated) folks. This gives them chances to make more money and put more into the economy.
Is this good policy? Would this make you vote democrat?

Great, let's put it into words for all to read......AN ACT""To direct the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to submit to Congress a plan to address certain high risk areas identified by the Comptroller General of the United States regarding the Department of Veterans Affairs in the 2019 High-Risk List of the Government Accountability Office, and for other purposes."" It goes on.....(a) Report required.—Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, in consultation with the Comptroller General of the United States, shall submit to the Committees on Veterans’ Affairs of the Senate and House of Representatives a report outlining the plan the Secretary has developed and the actions the Secretary has taken to address the areas of concern identified by the Comptroller General for the Department of Veterans Affairs in the 2019 High-Risk List of the Government Accountability Office (GAO–19–157SP) regarding— (1) acquisition management; and(2) managing risks and improving health care.By now I think we've lost the half the forum with this boring stuff, but let's press on. Lol. So, the obvious question.. what are these "high risk areas" in acquisition management & managing risk and improving health care for our Veterans. Typical attorney garbage that didn't address these specific points.. OK, there's an issue with the healthcare for our Veterans? Here's a solution. Move them to the front of the line for any medical services they need at any medical facility of their choice. They risked and laid down their lives for us. Time to pay them back. With my solution, No more cramped VA or overloaded VA or denied services that you heard so much about under our previous snowflake president.. Veterans can go to any medical facility they want to for medical treatment, and move to the front of the line. My bill would be entitled "Pay it forward"
Bravo..we agree! We probably agree on a lot more than it appears. There are other bills regarding opiods, homeland security, small business development etc that are sitting on Mitch's desk. That's my beef. Why isn't he bringing these to a vote..approve/reject/send it back to the House for changes?
Crickets....
BTW..the House passed legislation today to reduce the cost of prescription drugs nationwide & add vision, dental & hearing coverage to Medicare for the first time. This bill would help millions of Americans on both side of the aisle. If given the opportunity, many of us would pay more in taxes to help our fellow Americans.

I laid out my point on a topic... You agreed... You ask why Mitch isn't bringing these bills up for a vote. The honest answer is I have no idea , and just as important... You have no idea either.

What I do know is that he promised to end gridlock in the senate, right?
But McConnell blames Trump saying that he's waiting for his direction. Check it out because he's on record saying exactly that. He's afraid of sending legislation to Trump that he will veto. So nothing gets done.
That's the reason!

It would be helpful if we actually had people in office that articulated bills that are in front of them, and why they choose to "sit" on them. We can all dream.. and this goes to your side of the aisle too, Midnight.
Your position is nothing more than an "opinion" on McConnell.
Let's make this real simple.. you and I both disagree philosophically on the role of government in society. You seem to believe that passing bills and spending the people's money is the answer. My position goes deeper.... The role of government is to make people's lives better. That simple. And how you do that ? My position ? Get out of the people's way. Let them open business, expand business, employ people... "Unshackle" the job creators by slashing regulation.

"I said a few weeks ago that if the President took a position on a bill so that we knew we would actually be making a law and not just having serial votes, I would be happy to put it on the floor and the administration is in the process of studying what they are prepared to support if anything," McConnell said on the radio program.

Specifically what? I for one do not want regulations getting slashed unless they actually don't serve a purpose. Slashing regulations will equal people, the environment, and other various things being compromised.

Raider- Appreciate your response and I am totally on board with the examples you have stated - But as I keep stating, your talking about
past history and that's cool. My point, is in the present your 1st paragraph is Totally false. Well enuf of this but I sincerely appreciate
the respectful banter. Could you still help me with the one democratic policy (Current) that you agree with- Tx man
Not sure what you mean by past history? They are basically current policies put in place by democrats. It is not like they are old and discarded ones. Obama was the last democrat and one was his.
Nothing false about the first paragraph? You can easily look it up, of course.
Who’s to say that the economy would not have done even better if a democrat were currently president? Since, on average that is the case.
Maybe it would be easier to tell exactly which current democrat policies you do not support and why not?

.... Why should I surprised... Do you really think that "all regulations" serve the best interest of " all the people", ... or do they just serve the interest of "some people".

Housing is a perfect example.. we have all these rules and regulations (especially here in CA). Many do nothing more than to increase the cost of housing to protect a "red tailed squirrel."
Really ? Rent Control.... protections of endangered species.. and we are surprised that land developers do not want to build on new properties. You really can't make this stuff up ! You make it more expensive for home developers to make a profit , so why should they build ??
Make it attractive for land developers to expand development , and the real world dynamics of supply/demand will take control. Does this make any sense to you ?

And what are we to make of the homeless problem here in CA ? It is out of control, with more people homeless in San Francisco and L.A.
How can this be ??? CA has more in tax receipts than ever before,... yet we have a homeless crisis that is worse than it's ever been ??
Can we reach a logical conclusion that throwing money at a problem doesn't solve problems ? We should , because thinking that GOVERNMENT has the ability to solve problems is futile.
... In the words of Ronald Reagan, ... Government is not the ANSWER, Government is the PROBLEM. This is the words of a self proclaimed Democrat who finally turned himself to a "REPUBLICAN".

That is exactly what happens in UK, Canada, Japan, Germany, France, Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, Netherlands, Spain, S. Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Russia......and other over 100 hundred countries.

Can we make a sensible distinction between "necessary" regulations, and "frivolous" regulations ?
