GOP senators praise impeachment managers for doing a good job. But corrupt GOP senators already decide to acquit Trump despite overwhelming evidences for conviction. A vote for acquittal is based on lies such as constitution doesn't permit trial of former officials. Trial is rigged with biased jury including co-conspirators who tried to overturn fair election. Acquittal of Trump isn't exoneration.

Apparently, security officials underestimate far right extremists that cause 57% of domestic terrorism in the US. Unlike black lives matter protests which are mostly peaceful. FBI considers Antifa an relatively tiny threat. Unexpected is a lynch mob repeatedly chanting "fight for Trump." and following his directions word for word. While carrying weapons, they hunted for Pence and Pelosi. But Trump has a history of inciting violence from political rallies. Years of Trump lies lead to capital riot which might have been a massacre if not for brave officers protecting congress.

Medias and politicians paint the myth that black lives protests are violent. Actually, 93% of BLM protests are peaceful according to ACLED report which looked at 7757 protests in 50 states. Only 3-4% of protests involve property damage.
Similar conclusions reached by research at Princeton university.
Very true. And even in those rare cases where there was property damage, according to police, some of it may well have been from the actions of right wing activists mingling in with the BLM protestors in order to orchestrate fingert pointing at BLM

I know there are reasons why he is but Senator Leahy should not be Senate President Pro Tem of these proceedings. His age is showing badly, his garbled speech is barely understandable & it's time to pass the torch to a younger leader IMO.
I believe the only reason (someone can clarify if it's otherwise) is that Leahy is the oldest member of Congress and therefore is required to preside over the impeachment proceedings.

They may be cowards but Republicans have no choice but to stay quiet and stick with Trump, even if they know he's at least partly to blame for what took place. Their constituency will turn on them and so they're stuck between a rock and a hard place. Trump stated a specific date, alleged there was theft and stated that they need to do something to take the country back. Yes, all the statements Trump made were done loosely but the intent was clear. Do something about the election or this country will be lost. Did he organize all the elements? No. Did he speak to any of the leaders? No. Did he know that his speech would rile people up to commit violent acts on his behalf? Yes. I don't think Trump is going to make it to 2024 anyway so the whole thing about Trump running for office again is moot. However, based on principle, the Senate should really vote to convict him, even if Republicans are going to protect themselves. Down the road, if Trump isn't around, perhaps those pro-Trump votes won't look so great in a contested Senate race. I suppose we'll see.

Trump still lost despite escaping conviction. He lost the presidency. He may face civil lawsuits, state indictments and criminal prosecutions. His party is split against him. Clear majority 57-43 vote for conviction is largest bipartisan vote of any impeachment trial. Many senators who vote to acquit Trump went on record to condemn him. McConnell admits Trump is guilty. Polls show most people believes Trump deserves to be convicted. He is disqualified from ever holding office in the eyes of a majority of Americans. He can't be the future of republican party. History is likely to remember impeachment managers version of events.

Twelve Republican members of the House voted against a resolution on Wednesday to honor police for their actions during the deadly riot at the Capitol on January 6.
The gold medal is Congress' "highest expression of national appreciation for distinguished achievements and contributions" and the House approved the proposal to award it to police by 413 votes to 12.
Here are those infamous 12 "no" votes - ALL REPUBLICANS:
Louie Gohmert, Michael Cloud and Lance Gooden of Texas; Marjorie Taylor Greene and Andrew Clyde of Georgia; Matt Gaetz and Greg Steube of Florida; Andy Biggs of Arizona; Thomas Massie of Kentucky; Andy Harris of Maryland; Bob Good of Virginia John Rose of Tennessee
