In 2012 the anglo population is about 11.7M and the black/hispanic population is about 13.5M.
In 2020 the anglo population is projected to be 11.9M and the black/hispanic population is projected to be 17.3M.
Republicans may be relevant in Texas for the next 4-6 years but after that, it will become a big juicy blue state. Once republicans lose Texas as a solidly republican state they will be DOOMED. No amount of swing state pandering will be able to make up for the 38+ Texas electoral votes they will lose EVERY presidential election. All the electoral votes from California, New York, Illinois and Texas will soon be all BRIGHT BLUE.
So this angry white guy stuff that is going on right now will stop. Short term it will get much uglier and profane, but long term the writing is on the wall. The republicans will have to become more moderate and ease up on immigration, social programs and SS/medicare/caid.
Enjoy your last death rattles angry white men. The black and hispanic populations in this country are growing MUCH faster that the angry white guy population and will soon demand, no I think TAKE the head seat at the bargaining table.
GO BLUE DEMOCRATS! HERE IS TO A KINDER GENTLER AMERICA!

part of me thinks you are correct and part of me thinks we won't make it that far living the lies that we are. The taxation that will be necessary will make many of the "producers" leave the country (see France/75%) Hell if i know, but the way we are living/governing is not sustainable...that much i do know.

You are the one who suggested that the GOP will be gone once the African American and Latino population exceeds the caucasion.
My question is a good one and very relevent.
Its obvious that the latino get the advantage of having lax immigration policy.
it is not a good question and it is not relevant. i dont need to know why they would vote for a black president. the reality is that in a recent poll ZERO percent of black voters would vote for romney or any other republican candidate like romney.
republicans need to change or die.

it doesnt have to be all about more taxes, though i do think the top 1% need to be paying more. it can be about using our tax $$$ differently
-the us spends more on military than the next 19 countries combined
-we have 100,000 men in afghanistan
-we have 65,000 troops in japan and korea
-we have 70,000 troops in europe
-we have as many air craft carriers as the ENTIRE world (AND much better equipped)
-we have more total aircraft than the next 8 countries
i think we can pull back here and invest in healthcare, infrastructure, education, social programs, etc...
you are right...status quot will NOT work
other than the canned foxnews response, "all that stuff protects our freedoms", how can spending so mjuch on this be justified unless you are just in favor of defense firms making more billions at the expense of young soldiers who die so they can do it?

that's not going to happen and you know it, it doesn't matter who is elected. The military machine will continue to roll and whoever is elected will walk the way they are told to walk is my belief. I am really not a negative person, but me thinks we're fucked either way. So IF i am right, we will need more taxation and i see an implosion. Politics has become very depressing to me.

have the democrats proposed to cut spending on defense? the war machine will keep going for sure, but is one option the lesser evil? we know romney wants to fight other countries using everyone else's kids but his own 9although if you grew up with the name tagg, you might come under the scrutiny of the don't ask, don't tell policy so tagg should get a pass )

how about we have MANDATORY 2 YEAR SERVICE where EVERYONE risks their lives and not just poor white, black and hispanic young men?
once the rich and the elected start paying with their children's blood i am sure their views on foreign policy will be greatly changed.

Me thinks you need to focus more on reading comprehension.
I never said anything about them voting for a black president. I said what advantage do they get for voting DEMOCRAT?

i wouldn't doubt it. the defense firms make billions off our overly aggressive foreign policy. i'm sure they won't give any of that up easily.

Hopefully reps get back to the founding principles of the party and stop merely paying lip service to the constitution.
Kind of ironic that in this thread GOP= angry white guys. And blacks and Hispanics = a mindless exploitable voting block.
I think that tis post does more to objectify minorities than anything I have seen from the GOP.
Either way. I pray for informed voters more information and less corruption.
If it is honest. I do not care if my state is red or blue.
If Obama was honest, not overreaching executive power and staying true to the constitution. I would vote for him in a heartbeat.
race always matters. you are naive if you think it is doesnt
yes the constitution...written by a bunch of WHITE guys who thought black people were property and women were home makers. they owned slaves and raped the women slaves. they thought only white guys were worthy of the vote.
this hard on you have for the constitution is no different than any other crazy religion. the guys who wrote that were MEN. RICH WHITE MEN who were all too human. they are NOT gods and should NOT be deified. they made mistakes in their lives and judgements and in that document. stop making them gods and stop making that document perfect. they arent and it isnt.
yes lets adhere to a 225+ year old document. hey why dont we just get stuck in time and use the healthcare / technology / communications / etc from 2 centuries ago.

I def agree with post #20 about how some people cling to the Constitution as if it's infallible. It's an amazing document. A work of art, really. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't question it from time to time.
And I think we're barking up the wrong tree, militarily. "Wars" are different now. We no longer line up on each side of a battlefield and shoot muskets at each other. Maybe build less aircraft carriers and war planes? Take that savings and pay for healthcare? Beef up protection of our powergrids, financial institutions and farmlands and we're all good.

I think the latino voters in Texas BEFORE the big hoopla with the immigration issue were more or less democrats but AFTER the immigration hot button the last couple years are now overwhelmingly democrats. It prolly went from a 60/40 to 70/30 (democrat/republican) split within the past decade. If this trend continues and the republican party continues their tough stance on immigration, the Lone Star state will turn blue in the next 10/15 years. All the swing state electoral votes in the rust belt wouldn't mean a damn thing.

Race does not matter to me.
I am sorry you are stuck in the 1900's
The only thing that will be weeded out in time, are those that cling to race as a means to divide.
On the constitution:
The document does little but provide an outline for how government should work.
This should never ever change.
It also lists rights that are not to be fucked with
Which would you give back.
I hear this tripe all the time about the constitution being outdated.
What do you want? an amendment for your fucking IPAD.
The constitution has an amendment process by which it can be changed. It has been changed before.
It is the single best founding document that sets up the single best government in the world. If it were adhered to.
If the constitution did not exist. do you think you would have more rights or less?
Who would make the new rules?
People hate to forget that the sentiment within the constitution for every man being created equal was the basis of the abolitionism , and the civil rights movement. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. quoted the bill of rights numerous times.
