In a 1971 Playboy magazine interview, Wayne makes bigoted statements against Black people, Native Americans and the LGBTQ community.

He said, "I believe in white supremacy until the blacks are educated to a point of responsibility. I don't believe in giving authority and positions of leadership and judgment to irresponsible people."

Wayne also said that although he didn't condone slavery, "I don't feel guilty about the fact that five or 10 generations ago these people were slaves."

The actor said he felt no remorse in the subjugation of Native Americans.

"I don't feel we did wrong in taking this great country away from them. . (O)ur so-called stealing of this country from them was just a matter of survival," he said. "There were great numbers of people who needed new land, and the Indians were selfishly trying to keep it for themselves."

East Europeans tighten belts for Christmas
as inflation takes huge bites

Latest data put inflation at around 7% across the region,
• and at its highest in two decades in Poland,
• 13-year-highs in the Czech Republic and Romania
• and a 14-year-high in Hungary.

Central bank projections show inflation on track to average close to 6% in those four countries next year, the region's highest average since the 2008 financial crisis.

Capital Economics analyst James Reilly predicts underlying price pressures will keep East European numbers high through 2023, with food alone adding an extra percentage point in 2022.

It's not just the east Europeans though.   All of Europe is suffering significant rises in consumer prices, as we are here.  Like covid, inflation is worldwide thing.   The central banks and governments of each nation will have to be very careful how they proceed.

That was the fastest pace since 1982 and the sixth straight month in which inflation topped 5%.

This month doesn't look to be any better. Expecting December to be just as high or higher when the reports come out in a month.
