 I think the biggest legal concern for Santos isn’t that he lied about his education and work experience – it’s where he got his money from. He loaned his own campaign $700,000, which he apparently paid himself out of his shell corporation that allegedly manages $80 million in “family assets”. Yet he claimed he had essentially no assets in his 2020 run. He has no explanation for where this money came from. He could be looking at campaign finance violations or financial fraud. The New York AG has already announced she’s looking into it.

At this point in the George Santos saga, his entirely fictional life story is almost beside the point: When he's called on any of his lies, he just lies some more—it's pathological. But that same reckless behavior is also why the new Republican congressman-to-be is in serious legal jeopardy, at the local, state, federal, and, amazingly, international levels. And because of that, he's exceedingly unlikely to serve out a full term.

to a new complaint filed to the Federal Election Commission.

Nassau County GOP calls for Santos to resign

Jan 11, CNN — 

Leaders of the Nassau County Republican Party
on Wednesday called for Rep. George Santos,
elected to represent New York’s 3rd Congressional
District in November, to resign from office over
his lies and fabrications to voters.

“Today, on behalf of the Nassau County Republican
Committee, I’m calling for his immediate resignation,”
chairman Joseph G. Cairo said at a news conference
on Long Island. He was joined by a slate of local GOP
party officials and, remotely from Washington, DC,
Republican Rep. Anthony D’Esposito,
who also called for Santos to step down.

Cairo said the GOP congressman’s campaign was
made up “of deceit, lies and fabrication.”

   “He deceived voters!” Cairo said. “His lies were
not mere fibs. He disgraced the House of Representatives.
He’s not welcome here at Republican headquarters.”

Moments after the news broke, Santos, who was
in Washington at the time, refused to resign.

So now he was a star volleyball player at a college he never went to? He is the gift that keeps on giving. He’s been condemned by his NY GOP peers but McCarthy in love with him. 

The MAGA republicans are without a doubt the ones who buried shame and laughed it off.  No intelligent person can dispute this.  We've watched it get much worse since 2016.  Lying is OK.  Fraud is OK.  Tax cheating is OK.  Censoring journalists is OK.  Burning books is OK.  Supporting fascist policies is OK. Making voting less convenient for minorities is OK.   Attacking our Capitol is OK.  Pushing wild conspiracy theories is OK.  Racism is OK.  Falsely blaming their opponents is OK.  Accepting funding from a Democrat passed bill which they opposed then shamelessly claiming a victory they brought to their constituents, is OK.  Supporting a racist who declared he wants to terminate our Constitution, is OK.  And "owning the Libs!" as their number one priority over governing to make life better for Americans, is OK too.
