I think debates sway few voters, and they are essentially nust TV shows at this point. They exist for ratings (money).
Probably more than usual this cycle given that there were people who watched the first debate and said, "Man, Biden's looking/sounding really old and not all there." Then there were people who watched the second debate and said the same about Trump.
