Hmmmmm what would I do different, well many many many things. Your comment about unemployment is down and economy is up is strongly erroneous. UE is down but wages are not rising and have not kept track with the UE rate, do you know what that means? Any idea? It means jobs being created are not jobs increasing income and current workers are not gaining any increase in wages...so with inflation going up in MANY areas (energy, housing, healthcare) the net effect is a NEGATIVE economy for the median to below median worker...so clap clap clap for low paying, low income and no potential for wealth creation for the average guy economy. Trump lied in his campaign promises about working for the little guy, he has done NONE of that...the latest evidence being his farce of a drug pricing joke. Any time you see the industry in question JUMP higher on the same day that the loud mouth is allegedly going to slap them down, it shows how muted and stupid his promises are..he is a windbag with nothing but insults and tweets and garbage coming from him.
I do not feel safer today than in the past, I feel like the country is divided and Trump is rationalizing people hating each other and disparaging each other, I feel the gap between most of us and the elite getting wider and wider...I feel like Trump is offending any and all and this will end up costing us greatly in trade and military lives let alone what might happen to civilians. Trump is destroying things just to destroy without thought of his actions and his stupidity.
No I am quite dismayed with how awful he is as a leader and the choices he keeps making, how he has no respect for the office, others and this country. But all that said I am not shocked in the slightest...Trump is a loud-mouth cheating debt loving BK phony, and he is merely following the script of many of his failed past businesses and this time it will be for more than his trashy AC casinos that feel the pain.
What was it exactly that you would do differently?

So jobs were never outsourced and hb visa “foreigners” were never allowed in until 2017 right?
You never clarified what the FED does.
I guess you just hate progress, you must’ve designed the new forum layout
Pretty sure this will be a blank as well. You are asking the same fellow, that a while back couldn't recommend a new Fed Chair other than Trump's guy. He just knew he didn't want that guy. Good luck getting coherence as opposed to name-calling here.

Well well there must have been a smell in the air, the opportunity for you to take your cheap shot and run. You more than most know the answer to his silly questions because you asked the same uneducated questions yourself many times. If he is seriously interested in understanding what the FED does since he does not now get it, maybe YOU could answer his questions.
Nah you are just the same, looking to pick a fight and run off when someone actually confronts your scheme. Why you try the same tired act makes no sense to me. You ask questions you know the answers to just to annoy and bother, you are not in the slightest interested in discussion or debate. But any opportunity to take a shot and a few of you are right there to do it.

Nah. Never dodge. Like you tend to do. Obviously, I know it; I speak and write on it for years now. So, of course, I can answer anything he would like --- in detail. That is not my point.
The issue I have is you tend to act as if you have another, or better, answer --- yet, you never seem to.
Whenever someone questions you about anything you tend to not answer or go on a rant --- like you did with him and are doing with me now.
Just simply answer his question(s) --- if you want to have a reasonable discussion with the guy. Don't just go into another Trump name-calling session and blaming 'corps' for all the wrongs in the world.
You seem to be fine with cheerleaders; but upset if someone questions your stance.
To be fair to you --- I don't know this guy's past postings that well. So, if you feel he is just trying to agitate you --- then, carry on.

And, yes, I used to be interested in a discussion(s). But you always change to another topic or go away. I think the last couple of times it was about you being confused about people being able to retire early and about people not being able to live on $20 an hour.
I asked you to choose a city --- to start the conversation.
Never a word back. So, I assumed you couldn't continue that train of thought and abandoned it.

I know what the FED does. I should say I know what they fail to do. I was merely pointing out the fact that you did not explain even though you said you did

Well I dont consider what you do as interested in a discussion, you pop in usually to take a shot at someone or ask an open ended trap question to try and discredit, as if you do not know what the answer is when full well you do and are looking to be combative.
This Doja guy addressed me to attack as you do, check the thread and his response was weak and I called him on it.
I am all for discussion, I am not for blanket generalites with veiled attacks or personal insults...nor am I for partisan retorts which are of zero value. I question Trump and the replies are about Clinton or Obama...not interested.
I would be interested in what you are referring to about people being able to retire early or living on 20 an hour, I agree that people cannot LIVE and prosper on 20 an hour and I proved it with detailed line item costs. If you consider "making ends meet" as living, well you obviously are far removed from reality...the goal of life is not to make ends meet and go month to month, that is not living. Living is being able to have enough funds to go month to month, afford a retirement contribution, save some for life events and invest...so your future does not depend on month to month income for the rest of your life. 20 an hour is not going to put people in a position to prosper, even in the most low cost of living areas in the country it is near impossible to live month to month AND fund 18,500 in 401k AND invest 6k in an IRA AND save for what life events come AND be able to handle a loss of job or large outlay (healthcare, loss of car etc).
For someone who seems as if they know so much, your lack of understanding about what LIVING is for sure is lacking.

I did not attack you I popped in and asked what you would do different. You then started to insult and use the typical liberal buzzwords. Elitist, corporations, uneducated.... take your pick.
And you still have not answered the original question!
Enjoy complaining from the sidelines for another 6 years while the ambitious will continue to prosper

I answered the question fully, I have many many things to do differently, pretty much the inverse of what Trump has done. He fake campaigned as a champion of the lesser, the average guy and made hundreds of promises to protect and improve the lives of those hard working middle to lower class voters and has done none of the like. He attacked many politicians for their decisions and said he would do the opposite while insulting and belittling.
To me the groups that need protecting and enriching are the ones not receiving. Trump serves corps and the elite, his decisions day in and out represent his group and show the mountain of lies he created to get in office. I would not have given the tax freebies to corps and I was right about how it would go down...corps would enrich themselves and do dividends and buybacks and 90% of the tax cheating freebies have been used for that purpose. I would not have bowed down to the pharmas as he did on friday, I would not have stuck my nose in the Iran issue, I would not have acted like a moronic bully to China. I would not have overhauled the tax code for the benefit of the elite, I would not have torn down Obamacare as he did.
The actions he has taken almost every single one I would have done something different. He is a horrible person, a liar and a lousy leader. He is dividing the country, abusing other leaders and our politicians and heavily damaging the economy with his freebies and elitist cuts...our budget deficits are going to continue making new highs and for what? For the benefit of corps, their dividends and buybacks and enriching the elite. If we are going to recklessly spend and borrow in a Trump-esque way I would choose to use the borrowed money to give more to those with LESS...which is the exact opposite of what Trump has done.
Shocking developments...who would have thunk it?

Read back those last 3 paragraphs you just posted. I can’t find One solution in that mess. Plenty of complaints but no solutions. You listed what you would not do, I asked what you would do.
And what’s Obamacare?
Oh wait, that’s that thing that didn’t work

Solid reply...wait no it wasnt.
What was Obamacare? Well why did it struggle? Did anyone spend time determining why it struggled? Its the same reason why every single healthcare plan struggles...but no Trump just axed it because everything is a power struggle repub vs dems..and we continue to address nothing, fail to contain or identify cost controls and another day passes by.
I was never on Obamacare but I can tell you that MY healthcare has gotten worse pretty much every single year..my premiums go up, co-pays go up, max out of pocket limits go up, script costs go up, cost to the employer per their IRS form they send out goes up. Why would that happen? Its not Obamacare, it is free market so it MUST be superior right?

healthcare is a 'HUGE" problem.... how or where would you start??? I feel if you after the corporates, they will some how make back whatever they would lose through sticking it to the customers i.e. raise prices on already inflated priced products.... everybody taking but nobody giving.... ideas??

All you did was say, again, that you would do things differently. Then you say you would not do what Trump did.
But you never say what you would do? Are there any examples that you can think of?
How would you have handled the tax issue? How would you have handled the North Korea issue? How would you have handled the Iran issue? Etc.
This is what I mean when I say you don't handle questions very well. You get defensive and go on a name-calling rant.
By now everyone gets the fact that you do not like Trump or 'corps'. But it just makes you seem a malcontent when you ramble on like that in response.
So what if the guy is provinking you? Sometimes that is what starts a conversation. Never seen that fellow around that much. So why not give him a little back-and-forth? At least be civil. Maybe that would lead to a decent discussion in this forum, for a change.

Yes. I believe someone brought up the 20 or 25 an hour a while ago. Last couple of weeks I think.
Sure, you absolutely can do well on that and retire early. That was the whole point. There are people that do it all the time. It is basic. You simply live within your means and don't go in debt. Save and invest well. Many, many people do this. They live a much more satisfying life than folks I know that make 500-600k a year --- but are very deep in debt. This is all relative. But sure, you can make way more money and work forever --- because you lived beyond your means and could not afford to retire early. The converse is extremely true.
The people I talk to that try this and do it are very ambitious and eager folks; the ones that do not want to do it or refuse to believe it can be done are simply very negative in life. People tend to be very impatient nowadays and do not want to adapt or go above and beyond what they deem necessary. I try to tell them that nobody owes you an early retirement; you earn an early retirement. It is a mindset that folks almost always have to learn on their own. You don't learn it in school, you don't learn it from media, you don't even really learn it from your parents. You almost always have to learn this the hard way. It is not to say that someone has to be satisfied with 50k a year. But you can for sure make it work for you.

This is garbage...you generalize and then have the stones to ask in the previous reply for examples? What the crap is your problem?
You cannot live on 20 an hour and retire early unless you are living for free and have no expenses.
Please do the math for me...give SPECIFIC line item details, not this junk. Tell me how much someone makes on 20 an hour, then deduct taxes and go from there. Tell me how anyone on 20 an hour can fully fund a 401k, have any savings and also live a life...then add on the reality that they are providing for others than themselves.
Please feel free to give a LINE ITEM description as I did...do not reply unless you can do that. When you make the reply you did above and then generalize like this, yeah you are for sure not going to pull that crap with me.
And to your above reply, if you were not looking to take shots and run you would have actually found my EXACT replies in detail about what you say I didnt do...shocking. Nah you are just looking for sniper opps and you love to call out as you did here. I said what I would do about taxes, in full fresh detail. Go find the message because Ive made it.

This was one of the links I believe. But there are way more of them. It is easily done. Just don't go into debt, don't overbuy on your mortgage, pay cash as you go, etc. Of course, if you have that mindset it is easier on more money. But people do it on this amount. Have to have a longterm goal of doing it.

There were also some very interesting comments that were mostly positive at the end of the one article. Let me know what you think of them also when you are done reading the links.
Like this one followed with his reply:
Nice analysis MMD! I’d agree that much of it comes down to expectations and what you intend to live on post-retirement. My parents had very modest lifestyles (and never made 5ok per year) and were able to retire early. But it had to do with wise lifestyle choices from age 30-50 that allowed them to do so.
I’m starting to notice a very positive trend with personal finance bloggers and parents who were able to retire early (mine included). Maybe this is why we are all so good with money?

No thanks on links, you are a one sided hit and run poster, not at all interested in reading lazy links and engaging with you in any fashion. Feel free to do more than attack and then hide when confronted-

No hit and run. Just pointing out to you that it can be done. It is done all the time. Very good article. Obviously, if you never try, or refuse to believe it can be done, then you won't be able to do it.
You can say that you can't do it; but you cannot say that it cannot be done. Especially, when the proof is all around you.
The guy provides very good numbers and techniques to do it.
I especially always tell young folks I am working with, that one of the best ways for them to start out is to max out the 401k as soon as they can. No matter what job they go to, I will tell them to do it. That way they never miss it. That is one of the guy's mindsets he points out. If you start out with a plan and stick with it --- it will be second nature.
Check the article out. Pretty decent read.

Line item the math....go ahead and line item as I did if you are going to refute my work. I say it cannot be done and save for retirement unless you have expenses which are subsidized or artificially low. The math does not work. You say it does, so spare me the links and spend a few minutes LINE ITEMIZING your viewpoint.
If you think it is ok to take a shot at my POV (which is fine) then back it up with your own words, not some links. If not then feel free to skip the replies because you are doing nothing but hit and run attacking. It is EASY to nitpick someone else but if you cannot back it up on your own then better to not say anything at all.

He does some of the numbers for you. But like I always advise people: it always comes down to living within your means. For example, you simply cannot buy a house that is too much for your income. But the main thing I tell them is you have to start planning to retire as soon as you are able to. Otherwise, it will never be a reality.
No need to spare you the links; that is what you need to see it in black and white. They are not subsidizing; they are doing. You have to both be onboard with the plan. You cannot have the wife blowing the budget. Or vice-versa, you cannot go out and buy a new boat that you cannot afford.
Certainly not taking a shot at you in particular. Just when I see someone being negative about it, I have to point out that I have been doing it for years and see it work for folks. Not everyone --- but generally it is the failure to plan that gets them. They have unneeded expenses, cars they cannot afford, all cable channels, too many vacations, etc. You have to stick to the budget with a long-term goal in mind.
Like they always say --- when broke people are laughing at you, you must be doing something right.
But when the evidence is there in black and white with hard numbers to back it all up --- it becomes hard to deny it works.
You can take the 50k a year and simply budget it out like the guy points out and it works out fine.
