Don't get me wrong, President Obama is a gifted orator, it's just he had no substance tonight.




Clearly Congress needs to vote " no " on intervening in Syria's Civil War

The first ten minutes was a disgusting dog and pony show.

After, he finally addressed the present issues and supposed evidence. He never mentioned where or from whom the evidence originated from.

He was very aloof about the purpose of the strike and willfully avoided it relevance and effects towards the civil war

ps. If Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld were in power you'd have American soldiers dying in the streets of Damascus long ago.
At least Obama values American lives over those animals (on both sides) who are killing eachother.

I just wonder if some of it is to look politically relevant when he felt so badly on Benghazi.

He didn't utter a word while Assad  slaughtered 100,000 ...
now that chemical weapons have been used, it's a major issue.

I will be behind him doing something if we confirm that Assad was the one who usedthe chemical weapons

I don't think Saddam ever apologized for using chemical weapons and I do believe Bush had a red line of 40 + UN resolutions. Would Saddam have used chemical weapons again if given the chance? Saddam was much more unpredictable than Assad is.

So use nuclear and chemical weapons on citizen populations because you are "tired of them". 

What do you think happens when you bomb a Nuclear facility, or a chemical storage space?  Do you think that the dangerous material atomizes and disappears off of the face of the Earth?

If President Obama gets congressional approval then he will be on par with Bush, but Libya taught us that he is not even that concerned with the rule of law, nor the norms of warmaking set by his predecessor.

I think it's a political move that may be exerbated by the fact that he looked so weak in dealing with international affairs.

Don, I know facts are not something you are fond of but I believe this president ( who respects and values human life, unlike George Bush )  
has seen 73 % of the deaths in Afghanistan under his watch ( 4.5 years ) compared to the Bush years there ( 7 )

Its true, he is. He is getting slammed for so-called interventionist or hawkish positions that are more akin to Bush. It is the reason I find right wingers who supported Bush's policies but not Obamas to be so hypocritical. I'm sure you can understand that...

I certainly have seen some hypocrisy from the right...but that isn't just a GOP issue.

I voted for Obama in 08, not 12.

I like some of his performance, but am dissatisfied in many more.

I think we should stay out of Syria...
It isn't our civil war.


Many try to compare the Syria issue with Iraq and it is not even close.

We got involved with a Iraq after they invaded Kuwait and we were part of a huge coalition.

After destroying Saddams republican guard he surrendered and a condition of his surrender was he got to stay in power but had to follow a bunch of guidelines.

He failed to follow those guidelines and the war was resumed in 2003.

Had he not played games with the UN inspectors, he would probably still be in power today

Obama reminds me of when Kevin Kobb came to the desert to be our savior. In the end it was all hype, unqualified, untalented, no leadership. Lucky for the Cardinals they could cut their ties after 2 years and start over. Unlucky for the USA that after 4 poor years, he was resigned for 4 more years that will be worse. The man used to glow, now he looks old, overmatched, still unqualified to lead the nation. It's a shame, we needed a leader. And now a former KGB agent is calling the shots and we're expected to trust the Russians, of course with the "Trust but verify" b.s. he plucked from Reagan. He's just looking to get off the hook because like his Obamacare program, the people - at about a 90% clip want no part of another half-behind military intervention with no commitment to win or accomplish anything that will help the U.S.

Villy, are you aware that Saddam gassed 3,200-5,000 Kurds in 1988 and we did nothing? Not until he invaded Kuwait did we act. Why didn't we act when he used chemical weapons then?
