US justice department is appealing flawed ruling by judge who misinterpreted the law.
US center for disease control says mask mandate is necessary to protect public health and their legal authority long term if fluctuating pandemic worsens. Experts and not judges should be determining public health policies. Harris and AP-NOR polls found most people support extension of mask mandates.
Canada and many countries are maintaining transportation mask mandates.
