You wear a mask because your vaccine no longer works. 
From September 1st to February 1st the mask mandated/vaccine mandated state of New York had 13,372 cases per 100,000. The rest of the US had 10,918 cases per 100,000.
The mask mandated states of Oregon, Washington, California, Illinois, and New York had a combined 10,874 cases per 100,000 during that same time period, the rest of the US 10,918 as stated.
Damn, gotta have those masks!! LOOK AT THE DIFFERENCE THEY MAKE!!-

Evidences from observational studies aren't as strong as large scale randomized controlled trials with a control (no mask) group for comparison. They are the gold standard in research. Largest such study in Bangladesh involving over 300,000 adults confirm that masks are effective in reducing covid infections. During the pandemic, over 100 countries recommend or require mask wearing because it works.

Masks provide a level of protection, but it is far from the 99%+ provided by hazardous material suits. New York City has a particularly high rate of infection because every crowded subway car is a super-spreader, and there are millions of people riding the subways every day. Over 100,000 doctors, nurses and EMT's have died from COVID-19 even though most of them were vaccinated and wore masks and gloves.
New York is referred to as a "blue state" becuase the Democratic presidential candidate nearly always carries the state. However, there are millions of conservative Republicans in New York. Alfonse D'amato served three terms in the U.S. Senate and George Pataki served three terms as Governor. The GOP controlled the N.Y. state Senate for nearly every year from 1946 to 2018.
The people least likely to get vaccinated, wear masks and practice social distancing are conservative Republicans as even a cursory examination of the Covers' political forum will attest. The people most likely to get polio are those who refuse to get the vaccine, and anybody who denies that is a lying sack of shxt and probably a conservative Republican with contempt for the facts.

Through April 11, 2022 the six states with the highest per capita death rates are all "red states" with Republican governors and the GOP controlling all of the state Houses and state Senates: MS, AZ, OK, AL, TN and WV.

As I have said before, I'm not antivax, I'm anti-false information. Didn't get the case numbers for New York from any right-wing site, computed the numbers myself. Wanted to see the benefits of masking and vaccine mandates, etc. Sorry, I don't see it. Even Germany with medical grade only masking. Now that makes sense! Looked like it may have been working until Omicron came along. Their cases blew up on them. They since dropped most mandates and cases are naturally dropping as they do. And NO, mandates didn't make them drop as they were removed before the peak. So many times officials pointed to mandates when outbreaks naturally subsided.
The old "pandemic of the unvaccinated" is gone. Wear a mask to protect others is bullcrap. Wear a medical grade mask and protect YOURSELF if you feel you need one. It's a free country.

Nice way to put words in my mouth. Have stated many times the vaccine was very effective with the original covid, partly effective against Delta, hardly effective with Omicron. I took the J & J late last summer. Since I planned to travel out West felt the benefit then outweighed any risks, and there are risks.
So if you want to get political, Biden allowed Delta to enter this country easily with open border, he then stated " get the vaccine and you won't get covid" right after UK said 40% of hospitalizations were the vaccinated, he then had travel bans on African countries to slow Omicron while having border wide open, moving people across the country. Under Trumps watch covid-19 entered our country, under Biden's watch both Delta and Omicron overtook our country. Basically two NEW viruses allowed in.

Philadelphia will be reimposing its city-wide indoor mask mandate amid an uptick in cases of COVID-19’s omicron BA.2 subvariant, officials announced on Monday.
The mandate will go into effect next Monday, and requires masks inside “schools and childcare settings, businesses, restaurants, and government buildings,” the Philadelphia Department of Public Health said in a statement on social media.
“At that time, residents will be asked to report any business not complying with the mandate to @philly311” the department added.
