If I was running any of the teams in no/low tax states like Texas and Florida, I would make sure the athlete and agent knew how much extra the player would pocket playing for my team vs a team from Cali or NY/NJ. Money talks and millions talk louder.
Of course. This is a large part of NHLs problem. And with the Canadian NBA and MLB teams.
But it comes down to how much you are willing to pay to live in probably the best weather in US. And to be back home. But sad to have to go to a team that has no shot nearly very year.

True, but I will give SD credit for going out and getting some good players. They should be much better this year. An OF of Upton, Kemp and Myers has some good potential. They won't catch the Dodgers but no reason they can't stay in the wildcard hunt barring good health. They have good starting pitching that should keep them in games.
Stay disciplined and manage your bankroll

I chronicled in another thread how my state pays double for every computer they purchase because of a ridiculous contract some shady a hole negotiated. Nary a whimper from the forum.
I've seen personally how the DOT has wasted millions in my state repaving the major freeway twice in ten years only to have it torn up in favor of concrete.
We need to address the waste in our gov spending so that we don't have to tax the pissss out of people.

I always contend the bigger a company/entity becomes the less efficient and wasteful it becomes. If we ran a mom and pop shop with 5-6 other guys we would all have to carry out weight and not be wasteful. It is not the same with big companies or govt. They can carry wholes groups of people while not having to keep so keen an eye on the bottom line.
I never complain about paying taxes because we live in the best country of all time; I complain about what they spend the money on.
