As I understand it, players have to pay taxes in each state they play/earn money in. Players on teams that play in the NL West pay more because they not only pay for their home games, in this case SD, but they will play more games in CA since they have LA and SF in their division. A player on the Rangers gets half his salary at no state income tax since Texas has no state income taxes (assuming the player lives in texas).

Either way, I'm sure Shields will be just fine and to answer the question, yes the govt does need that much due to govt waste and overspending. Now if you asked if the govt should steal that much from him, well that's different.

I do not understand the question. Focus on the % he is paying and not on the absolute dollar amount. He makes a sh!t ton of money. So by definition he will pay a sh!t ton in taxes

So because he makes a lot of $ and in turn pays a larger absolute amount of $ in taxes means that his % should be adjusted so that he pays a smaller %age? strange to say the least.does that mean that people who make much 25k a year should actually be paying a larger %age since their absolute $ amount is less?

And how is this a right or left thing? We are not discussing the if he should be paying at a higher tax rate etc. Those are right / left issues.

This is just saying that his absolute contribution is going to be high by the very definition that his income is very high.

30% (or whatever rate he pays) of 75 mil is by definition more than 30% of 50K.

Basic stuff man.

Of course you would like to deflect on the percentage he is paying because he is paying close to 50%.Are you paying 50% right now? Would you think 50% is fair?Just because he makes a high amount that makes us drool does not mean that is fair or equitable.As I said...if you had to write out and sign his tax check you would probably be sick inside too.It&#x27;s funny how you libs don&#x27;t have a problem showing emotion for death row inmates but distance yourself as far as possible from rich people.

In this thread, you contend that 50% is too high for someone to pay.

Can you elaborate on the difference of that extra 5% please? What makes 45% fair and 50% too high?
