I would like to thank Gods greatest creation "donald trump" for waving his magic hand and making the stock market go up today. Yesterday harris made it go down and today with a wave of his tiny hands, he made it go up. The talents this man has, truly amazes me. Now i see why the magas love this guy. He has super powers, maybe I should jump on the maga train before it leaves me behind.

Macdonalds also reported that sales at old stores (stores less than 1 year old) were down. First time since 2021 if I remember the article correctly....
Major sign that average ppl are spending less on unnecessary shit

Would be interested to see how California McDonalds or other fast food companies in the State are fairing since the new minimum wage hike that took place a few months back....I saw reports that 10,000 jobs were added and another report that 10,000 jobs were cut...not even the stats are McHappy and seem to lack beef....

could be one of those things to make you think things are great, when they really aren't. The jobs report that is put out monthly is a good representative of that. They put out the report with big publicity and then adjust down later. If I recall 10 of the last 12 jobs reports were adjusted down. That's not usual, seems to be a bit misleading to the public imo.

@ABooksNightmare Don't live in cali but assuming they jacked prices up when employees wages went up??
Yes, prices have gone up and people are complaining on social media...there is no way that this minimum wage rate hike can sustain itself...fast food is meant to be cheap and fast...it's not about quality, but rather some form of nutrition quickly and at a reasonable price...convenience is what will keep them going, but once it is realized that the prices are going up and the quantity and quality of the product is not, then they will lose customers...the only saving grace in California is that our State minimum wage is also high, so it is all relative...somehow California hasn't got the memo that raising minimum wage is relative to the economy...of course minimum wage of $16 and $20 for fast food looks good, but that also means higher consumer prices elsewhere, including rent...shit is out of proportions out here and I see zero reason why fast food deserves $20 an hour when most of these jobs are meant for young kids in school or just starting in the labor force...we have forklift operators making $18 or $19 per hour in a skilled position which is less than what they can make working in fast food...makes no sense...and this doesn't include the astronomical health care costs that a business must contribute towards...it's a joke to have a board for fast food...now they want another rate increase to $20.70/hr in 2025...and, it's catching on for other industries now as well...where does it stop as they opened the flood gates...

Maybe I'm missing something in what you posted. But you say minimum wage is 20 dollars an hour, but forklift operators are making 18 or 19 dollars an hour? Why doesn't the minimum wage apply to them?

CA raised fast food workers min wage to $20. CA min wage is $16.00 for the entire state. Cities can have a higher min wage but the state floor is $16.00. Industries can set their own min wage like the Health Care industry or the film industry.

Ya unless there is part of the story I ain't hearing, that don't make no sense.I gotta be honest I don't even know what the minimum wage is in Illinois,or if they have different minimum wages for different types of work.
I do think that if a person works a 40 hour week, they should make a livable wage. Now a livable wage is gonna be a whole lot different depending on where in the country a person lives or works at,but if you work you should be able to survive.
I know a lot of big company's (Walmart for example) pay their workers shit,so then the workers have to get supplemented by the government in order to live, that ain't right either. You have company's making billions every year, and the people doing the actual work can't survive on what they're being paid, that's bullshit.

California imposed a separate minimum wage of $20/hr for fast food industries meeting a certain criteria...the State minimum wage is $16/hr for most other positions...my reference to the forklift drivers is because my company recruits for a major agriculture companies out her in California that distribute nationwide and they are only willing to pay $18 or $19 per hour for these positions, whereas one could go work for a major fast food chain making a minimum $20/hr due to the new minimum wage...we request all the time for our clients to raise their rate of pay, even before this fast food minimum wage into place, but they refuse because this is what the market is bearing in our area....

Illinois has a State minimum wage, but you also have separate minimum wages for different cities...for example, Chicago has a separate minimum wage for businesses that have 4 or more employees at $16.20/hr. The State minimum wage for Illinois is $14/hr. We have the same thing here in California where different cities have a higher minimum wage than that of the State....for example, San Francisco's minimum wage is $18.07/hr...much higher than the State rate but still significantly less than the fast food minimum and San Francisco is uber expensive to live in...

That's a good thing. People should stop eating that trash and causing health care prices to skyrocket. As far spending on unnecessary shit, I second Post #93 above. People that cry poor are the same ones spending $6/pack on cigarettes, lottery tickets, alcohol, gambling etc... Seems they always have money for that kind of stuff

Cigarettes, lottery tickets, alcohol, and gambling----everything that remained available during COVID lockdowns.
That's why I call bullshit on voter suppression about having to have or show ID...if you want to vote you will secure identification to prove who you are...if you don't then you won't...I mentioned the same thing about cigarettes...if given a choice to buy a couple of packs of cigarettes or obtain an ID so they can vote which do you think they will choose...life's about choices...but both of you are right, these people always find a way to buy unnecessary shit instead of saving or being smarter about their choices...
maybe we can get third to find the PEW research stats on this....I bet it's high
