CHICAGO — A child staying at a migrant shelter on the Lower West Side developed a confirmed case of measles, Chicago public health officials announced Friday. It was the second case of measles reported this week.  It is a large warehouse that has received skepticism from health advocates and volunteers helping migrants after a 5-year-old died there in December.

So, the CDC is making this a priority?  They've given millions of vaccines at the southern border?  

Must be a supply chain issue, volume at UPS and FedEx is down and the laid off drivers who used to deliver the covid shot can't keep up with the demand for all these Unvaccinated people coming across the border.

I think we are up to the tenth Covid shot. Is everyone here up to date?

If re-elected, Trump threatens to defund schools with vaccine or mask mandates.  He is a threat to public health.  Problem is that politicization of vaccines has lead to more vaccine hesitancy and outbreaks of preventable diseases.

January 1-March 14, 2024, a total of 58 measles cases were reported by 17 jurisdictions: Az, Ca, Fl, Ga, Il, In, La, Md, Mi, Mn, Mo, NJ, New York City(not upstate), Oh, Pa, Va, and Washington.

January 1-December 31, 2023, a total of 58 measles cases were reported by 20 jurisdictions.

January 1 to December 31, 2022, a total of 121 measles cases were reported by 6 jurisdictions.

January 1 to December 31, 2021, a total of 49 measles cases were reported by 5 jurisdictions.

January 1 to December 31, 2020, 13 individual cases of measles were confirmed in 8 jurisdictions.

January 1 to December 31, 2019, 1,274* individual cases of measles were confirmed in 31 states.

I wanted to give credit to where credit is due, pre covid measles was trying to make a comeback.  No data on how many were immigrants but that's the data.  For the next 3 years the reported numbers only show single digit states reporting...most likely cause Covid was the main focus, Covid even killed off the Flu so to speak.  We will never know how many that passed might have been the flu combo with covid because everyone was only tested for the VID.  Also, the flu shot wasn't even available at least where I live back in 2020 and 2021, unless maybe if you were elderly but no one talked about it.  

Now we are at last year's total number reported to the CDC, my main thought is because of the huge influx of people who were not here during covid.  The reports have been saying that the couple week isolation period should keep this in check, we all learned about the six foot bubble so hopefully the reports are correct, but do you believe everything that you read?  Half of what you hear?  If this shoots up over the 2019 level there is no denying that the measles was brought in by the border crossing no vaxed, you can have an isolated case or two from those traveling abroad but let's be realistic here.

my brother in law is from El Salvador , the whole family casted their votes for El Salvadors President Nayib Bukele , a man who has cleaned up the country from gangs , some flew down South to cast their vote

Center for disease control says measle outbreaks originate largely from unvaccinated Americans traveling internationally.  Cato institute study found no connection between measles infection and immigration in the US.  Immigrants are less likely to spread measles because of higher vaccination rates in other countries.

Officials in Chicago are sounding alarms over the third case of measles found in the child of an illegal alien staying at one of the city’s migrant shelters. This comes as the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has responded to more than eight total cases involving illegal immigrants in the city. 

All but one of the individuals diagnosed with measles were described as being connected to the migrant shelter, or Chicago’s “new arrivals mission.” 

Officials said that one of the immigrant children had to be hospitalized but is now in “good condition.” 

Illegal immigrant children who attend Chicago public schools are usually not vaccinated against the highly contagious virus. 

The first case was reported weeks ago, making it the first case of the disease reported in the city since 2019. The other three cases were just the tipping point, with several more cases to be found in both children and adults at the migrant shelters.
