Mexico warns Trumps tariffs could kill 400,000 U.S. jobs

Economy Minister Marcelo Ebrard also warned against Trump starting a regional trade war, calling the cost to US workers “huge”.

“Around 400,000 jobs will be lost” in the US, he said, pointing to a study based on figures from US carmakers that manufacture in Mexico.

Of course the car manufacturers in Mexico would say this....they don't want to lose the cheap labor pool they have in Mexico...

2021 Oxford study concludes that US lost 245,000 jobs from Trump's tariffs.  His 2018 tariffs on steel imports didn't reverse decline in manufacturing employment.  Instead Trump tariffs hurt real income and GDP.  The few who benefit from tariffs are outnumbered by the many who benefit from international trade.  Almost all economists dispute Trump's claim that tariffs wouldn't hurt US consumers and businesses.

That's a shame.  Despite the very low unemployment under the Biden admin, we still need jobs!

The unemployment rate ticked up to 4.2 %, from 4.1 % in October, as fewer people were able to find work.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the country's unemployment rate dropped to 3.5% in fall 2019,,, under President Trump— the lowest rate in about 50 years, since December 1969.

I'll just bet Trump blames Biden for that!
