Sundance already sent me a check & I'm working with Deanna @ the Grand Rapids, MI Home For Veterans. They have special needs for some of the larger vets like wider/sturdier wheel chairs for them to get around the complex. She's making a list & I have friends up there that can go get what they need.
In the spring when we head up there (God willing), we plan to sponsor an onsite fishing tournament. Last year we donated 30 of the telescopic fishing poles & the reels we got were shitty. I got them from a local bait shop that was going out of business. Anyway, I know they'll need some better reels & maintenance on the reels that still work. My buddy, who recently retired from Steelcase, will pickup/fix/change the line during the winter so they will be usable in the late Spring. The beauty of the location is that they have a stream that empties into a pond on the property where they can gather trout prior to the fishing derby. So there will be plenty of fish to catch. We'll have prizes for the first fish, the most fish & the largest/heaviest fish caught. We'll get Wal-Mart to donate some lures & get live bait locally. Everything is contingent on the virus. Right now they are not allowing visitors & all deliveries go through a litany of checks before entering the complex. Anyway, that's the plan but we'll have to wait & see.
Count me in on the meal for our first responders. Ya gotta love what they do for communities around the country.
