Trump admits to thinking about doing nothing against pandemic. But instead he decided to do little too late and now claims to be a hero for saving 2 million imaginary lives. That is like a drunk driver pleading innocence to homicide by citing all the people he didn't kill. Any idiot in the white house could have done something that reduce coronavirus deaths. Instead of asking what could have happened if Trump did nothing, the question should be how many lives could have been saved if he did his job? Or why US response to pandemic is worser than other countries?

The State Department announced on Feb. 7 that it had "facilitated the transportation of nearly 17.8 tons of donated medical supplies to the Chinese people, including masks, gowns, gauze, respirators, and other vital materials."
The Facebook post cited as its source of information a CNN editorial criticizing the shipment.
The move came more than two weeks after the first U.S. coronavirus case was detected in Washington state on Jan. 21. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo tweeted Feb. 7 that the delivery would "help save lives" in China, which had reported more than 31,000 cases by then.

An Inspector General’s job is to investigate and report on waste, fraud, and abuse. Not to be complicit in it. Michael Atkinson did his job and was fired for it. He made sure Congress was aware of the whistle blower's complaint re: Trump's quid pro quo call with the Ukraine.
Atkinson is a man of integrity. No wonder Trump fired him. In a corrupt organization, blind loyalty is preferred over competence. This shows a major problem in government. When a president can fire anyone for just doing the job they are supposed to do by trying to stop abuse of power. This is no different than a mob boss firing the detective who investigated him.

Thirdperson ..here in America..
The President of the United States has the authority to remove Inspectors General even without a stated reason for doing so.............as was the case of Inspector General Gerald Walpin federal watchdog who was fired by President Obama in 2009.
The law only requires a president to give 30 days' written notice to Congress before removing an inspector general.
Sometimes it's not what a person does ,,but how a person does it that counts ...mannerisms.

The law doesn't require him to tell the truth either:
On March 6, Donald Trump said: “Anybody who wants a test can get a test.” That was untrue then. It’s untrue now. He lied. He Farking lied. He farking lied to the American people about a virus that’s killing the American people. Trump is un-American.

Blame employers and insurers for changing insurance plans. Most Americans are covered by insurance through their jobs. Nothing in obamacare prohibits them from dropping coverage or changing insurance plans as they have always done. This is normal practice with or without obamacare. Vast majority of insured employees still keep the same insurance plan though.

Trump as Titanic Captain:
1. "There is no Iceberg, It's a hoax"
2. "We won’t hit the iceberg"
3. "We barley touched the iceberg"
4. "Nobody could have seen the iceberg"
5. "It was the previous captains fault"
6. "Their deaths means my plan worked"
7. "I’m the best captain EVER!"

Current pandemic highlights the importance of universal healthcare. Uninsured Americans are less likely to see a doctor but continue to infect other people. When sick people delay until seriously ill, late treatment is harder and more expensive. This raises costs for everyone. Trump's sabotage of obamacare takes away healthcare insurance from millions of Americans. Bad decision for Trump administration to reject special enrollment at obamacare exchanges for most states in a public health crisis.

Giuliani says he spends all day dialing doctors and hospital executives. Among those with whom he's consulted, a controversial New York family doctor and a medical supply executive who was once convicted of extorting the actor Steven Seagal.

NOW THE LIAR AND CHIEF IS BLAMING EVERYBODY ELSE FOR HAVING A LOW STOCKPILE! AND NOW CONFISCATING ORDERS PLACED BY STATES!
According to politifact, Trump wrongly blames New York for not buying ventilators years ago. But 2015 report recommends relying on nationall stockpile instead of buying ventilators. Also Trump falsely claims he inherited a empty stockpile according to factcheck.org. His administration failed to move forward on Obama plan for a machine to produce millions of masks according to Washingtonpost. No funding provided for manufacturer O&M Halyand despite a 2015 contract. According to Associated press, Trump administration wasted months that could have been used to replenish medical supplies. Despite early warnings, federal purchasing records reveal delay in ordering supplies until March 2020. Advanced medical technology association send a letter urging Trump administration to coordinate distribution.
But Trump refuses to accept responsibility. Lack of federal leadership force states to compete for supplies. This lead to chaos, skyhigh prices, uneven distribution and delays which put patients and healthcare workers at risk. Some states received broken ventilators and rotting masks. Experts in emergency preparation are dismayed about controversial claim that national stockpile isn't mean for states. According to federal law, purpose of national stockpile is to help states obtain resources they cannot acquire in a crisis because of budget constraints. Now national stockpile is nearly depleted just as the number of patients is surging. Thousands of Americans may die unnecessarily as a result of Trump's negligence.

The Governor of Georgia reopened beaches in his state. I hope Governor DeSantis isn't listening. You Can't Make This Stuff Up!
Certain politicians run their states by politics not medical advise and scientific data in pandemic crisis. God forbid and bless their residents' safety and health.

I agree with thirdperson 100%

Glad to see that you are well slim. Thought maybe you had some fish tank cleaner laying around.
Darkhorse, I see you're still lurking late at night..
I'll tell you.I was so sick after the start of the year ..that I might have taken a swallow, if I had some around at the time ..In retrospect,, I think I had a mild case of the virus..could not eat and lost 10 lbs, did not go to the doctor and just toughed it out..good immune system..However ,,last week I broke my ankle and have to have surgery ( plate and some screws) so my doctor had me take the SARS Coronavirus-2 nasal test before surgery ....Results came back ..virus Undetected. It's a good feeling knowing for sure.
Other than that feeling great,,keeping straight.

Yeah I'm a night owl especially when I'm not working(delayed because of the covid 19 restrictions)here in PA. Glad you made it thru and hope you you continue to heal. As for me everything has been fine. No issues yet other than boredom. 67 and still going at it even though my work is seasonal(7mo at 50-60 hrs a wk) there are other things I'd rather be doing.
