Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Tennessee formed a regional pact with Georgia to end coronavirus restrictions. They’re all run by Republicans loyal to President Trump who are moving much faster than any other region of the country to lift stay-at-home orders, even as coronavirus cases continue to climb throughout the region.
All six states also rejected Medicaid expansion, even as 36 other states adopted the plan to help more poor people get health coverage.
These states have refused for a decade to expand Medicaid, largely because it was a major plank of Obamacare, and the Republicans in those states refused to consider any part of Obama’s signature law even though it would have cost them little and helped ensure hundreds of thousands of people.
They make up six of the 14 states that refused to embrace the policy, including nine in the South. These holdout states have almost uniformly higher uninsured rates than anywhere else.

In those six states that refuse to expand Medicaid, chances are many uninsured people in those six states who could not get medicaid insurance voted for Trump and the GOP Governors. Political ideology can make people blind and silly.

If you decide to make that trip, let me know. I can Fedex a check to help purchase whatever you can find.
They need the BIC lighters & throwaway individual razors. Shaving cream, toothpaste/brushes, books but no old magazines. DVD's, puzzle books, playing cards, pens..etc

Trump threatens to block bailout funds to help struggling US postal service which is among US most popular institutions. Risks of higher rates, cuts to service, outsourcing or privitization, rollback of employee rights and benefits according to American postal workers union. Voting rights advocates call for mail-in voting to ensure Americans can safely vote during the pandemic. However Trump has resisted because he is afraid of democracy despite voting by mail in Florida election.

Get a clue THIRDPERSON. the postal service loses millions, but why should we "taxpayers" put up w this ? You're ok that they continually lose money ? Why not fix it ? Trump raises a " common sense" solution to raise the cost for Amazon. They abuse the postal service w their "last mile delivery." Pay up Amazon, or deliver ALL your deliveries to people's homes.

They're co-dependent for now. But Amazon is building distribution centers all over & have a cadre of delivery contractors to make that "last mile" no longer an issue in the very near future.

Logistics experts have said Amazon benefits significantly from USPS, but raising rates could also make it more difficult for the Postal Service to compete with shipping companies, hurting its financial state in the long run.

Pres. Donald J Trump apparently does not like Jeff Bezos and his Post, so he constantly attacks Amazon.

Codependent ? That's not the issue. The issue is one is a public company that has no problem of screwing over the PO . This should matter to you. This is the people's money

Did you not hear what I said ? The USPS is losing money delivering packages for Amazon
Maybe if the USPS can't find a cost effective way to compete w delivering packages, they should just stick to delivering mail. Are you starting to see how the private sector does a better job than the government for delivering packages?

Losing money delivering package for Amazon? Shutter USPS' contract with Amazon or block the Covid aid to the USPS then. Let's see Mr. Donald J Trump's hatred toward the Post and Bezos can make Trump done that to the USPS.
Action, not only talk and talk.

Speaking as a lifetime Fedex subcontractor ( My entity number is 37 outta 5000 contractors - Would have been number 1 if they contracted
Maryland 1st). I can almost guarantee that the USPS is not making squat from Amazon. The USPS should be the poster child for how NOT to run a
business. When is the last time you heard they turned a profit? Their pension set-up will never allow them to succeed. Their business model is a
balsa-wood boat in an ocean! It doesn't matter if it's Trump or God, the USPS needs totally REVAMPED or dismembered. Can you say "money pit."
Fedex told Amazon to stick it up there ass. They are the only one who profits. There is NO such thing as FREE SHIPPING. That is a FLAT OUT LIE.
Think about all the cost associated with shipping one package. You have the following cost (1) To have package picked up (2) Unload package at
local terminal (3) Load package into regional destination trailer (4)transport package to regional terminal (5) Unload from trailer (6) Reload in to
destination trailer (7) Unload at local terminal (8) Load in local van (9) Deliver package. Nine different positions need to get a portion of this of
the cost in this process. Amazon wanted to tell us what they would pay us to due their deliveries. Fk them - A large % of amazon pkgs are put in
a bag and sent to the post office (By Fedex) for the USPS for "final" mile delivery. That stops May 1st. Price for amazon products will be reflected
in this lost linguistic they took advantage of. Watch all products across the board rise! Free shipping my ass.

Snorkel...I understand the issue about accepting the money. If you change your mind, let us know.
I was thinking about buying lunch for the workers from a local joint & have them deliver it to the facility. I have to talk with a Manager there so they can pick the place they know & trust before they will accept food from some dude in Florida. I'll let them decide & see if we can make this happen.
Thanks for getting involved. You'll probably see some of the vets because they are always walking around or jetting around in their wheelchairs. They love meeting people and sharing stories about their lives. In Michigan I sat down next to a vet & he had all this cool silver jewelry he was wearing that he made. He grew up in New Mexico & his Dad taught him how to make it. Now he makes jewelry for other vets & the workers for Christmas.
If you have a chance, plop down next to one of them & shoot the shit. They help remind us what is important in life.

“U.S. intelligence agencies issued warnings about the novel coronavirus in more than a dozen classified briefings prepared for President Trump in January and February... “
Yet Trump ignored the warnings and went golfing & held his ego stroking rallies.
But he doesn't listen to his briefings because he knows it all, right? Hell, this POS doesn't start work until noon.

The the coronavirus began spreading in New York weeks before the first confirmed case and came to the area via travelers from Europe, not China, new research suggests.
Two separate teams of scientists studying the genetics of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the region came to similar conclusions: People were spreading the virus in New York as early as late January, before more widespread testing began, and it came mostly from Europe, not Asia.
"We know with certainty that these were coming from European strains," Adriana Heguy, director of the Genome Technology Center at NYU Langone Health.
But but but....they told us China sent it to us.
