Midnite -sundance -Down to crunch time - Leaving for myrtle wed - going to Sam's Thursday morning to get additional supplies
for the VA, then to Charleston. Matt (Sue's counterpart) is going to meet up with us at the VA. On way back
to Myrtle, stopping at Mission Barbecue to ask if they need any assistance for Friday. Will also givem a little
sumin sumin. Midnite, how do we stand with Mission? I'm psyched! Pot to be spent ($700). This is addition
to the $1000 I'm donating. Nice little donation.
Snorkel/sundance....I just got the proposal from the catering director about an hour ago & emailed my approval of the cost to her. It came in a little over $1100 which was about what I was expecting. Each medical hero will receive brisket, baby back ribs, mac n cheese, cornbread and they donated banana pudding. I plan to give Rebecca a tip because she will be the person making the delivery & she's the one who helped negotiate with her boss Lauren who I think might be a tight ass.
Snorkel, I told Rebecca you & the boss would be stopping by to have lunch so I'll pass along that it will be Friday. I also told her about you making contact with Sue & you donating much needed items for the veterans. She was shocked when I told her we hooked up on a gambling website from opposite ends of the political spectrum to say thanks to our veteran and medical heroes. They are stunned by the generosity and our reasons for helping.
Our contact @ the Medical Clinic is Paula West. When I spoke with her last week, she told me that her team sometimes feels forgotten. So I let her know what we were doing and that our actions should prove that her heroes are not forgotten.

Midnite- man that sounds fantastic. Matt at VA in Charleston said he was planning on having a photo op and local press. That would
be cool but not in it for the kudo's. If they do interview, I will be mentioning the luncheon and get kudo's for you and sundance.
How bout I send you $500 of the $700 donated. It would be no problem at all. Hoping they will be handing out the lunches so
we can meet some of the frontliners. I thought about how I was going to tell Rebeca how we got this goin. Damn strange that
(as you say) different sides of the spectrum but can come together for a great cause. Extra bonus that Paula feels they are
forgotten. I hope I get to help so I can see mega-smiles and converse with them. Thanks again for all this. Later-on. I'll take

I mentioned that the Catering Director wasn't easy to deal with. She didn't respond to my invoice approval, she didn't return my voice mails or emails. So I was getting a little nervous she was going to fark it all up. So I called my girl Rebecca & she took care of everything.
Get a load of this....It's hard for them to prepare 75 individual lunches and transport them so she will arrive with her MOTHER to divide the portions onsite at 11 am so the medical heroes can grab their lunch and chow down. I freaked when she told me her Mom was going to help her. WOW...that's some special service.
Snorkel...I know you wanted to buy your boss lunch but it will have to be take-out because their dining room is closed. I also reminded her what you were doing in Charleston and that your contact Matt may have the press & news folks onsite to see what you are doing. She was amazed and promised to take pictures that may end up on the Mission Barbecue website. She didn't promise that they would end up on the website but she would give it a try.
I'm pretty stoked that we took these ideas, ran with them & are making it happen. We read so much bullshit in this forum but we have proven we are not just talk but can be civil in a common goal even though we have different political views. I appreciate your efforts and know the vets will have smiles on their faces that will stay forever in your soul.

I've ever drove thru. Didn't even remember going thru it back in the 80's. Haha. Charleston is a heeluva sight also.
Nice bridge span going into it. Aircraft carrier sittin in the bay type area. WOW. Met with Matt around 10:30 and
they were delighted with the thoughtfulness and donation. I gave him a list of donatee's which I will try and pass
on when I receive. (Going to have to get my 5 year old nephew to do that)
Stopped by Mission Barbecue and we will be meeting Rebekah around 10:15 at the clinic. They are going to be
preparing the food then (Said it dries out to quick simply to transport from the restaurant. So,this is it. Still stoked
about all this. I'll be making a sign up with your guys name on it when we take the pictures. Probably best that the

Snorkel/sundance...I just got off the phone with Rebecca & we laughed our asses off. She thought we all knew each other for years and decided to do this. I had to explain to her that we've never met in person & just bullshit with each other online.
I also checked in with Sue @ the Charleston Medical Center and she is sending her assistant, Sandy to meet you guys at the clinic tomorrow. I tried to reach Paula West @ the Clinic but had to leave her a voicemail.
Brothers...we are making history here. No one has ever done what we are doing for these folks.
I also told Sue that if she ever has any "special" needs for a vet at the center to contact me. Sometimes these vets have special needs like extra size sneakers or maybe their personal watch broke and they need another. Stuff that we just take for granted they can't. So you guys may see me in this forum asking for help again. Right now, my fishing buddies are helping pay for a new wheelchair ramp for a vet who has recently returned home to Michigan. It's a terribly sad story but we are trying to help her transition a little smoother.

Midnite - Matt told me they are real short on shoes - I got another 30 pair from size 10 thru 14 -Total was about 50 pairs. Got cleaning

Snorkel/sundance...I just heard from Rebecca and she said the lunch was fantastic. I guess Mission Barbecue is loved by most in South Carolina because the medical heroes were like "Wow...Mission for lunch!"
