@thirdperson
Truth! The 2017 tax cuts (a go to for every GOP admin) was of incredibly little benefit to the common folks but a significant benefit to the wealthy. GREAT!...if you're wealthy! Furthermore the reduced revenues, in effect, significantly impacted our national debt!! Trump ran on a campaign of being the savvy businessman who not only would control our deficits but reduce our national debt to zero! Yes, he said ZERO! It turns out that the guy who claims to be "the king of debt" was telling the truth about that part. He ADDED over 7 TRILLION during his economic term! Too many people ignored the fact that he declared bankruptcy 6 times (including a casino of all places) and has been guilty of FRAUD - including tax fraud - for much of his life. That, being arrested 4 times for 91 criminal charges......and being declared a disgusting sex-offender.
Then of course there is the massive economic fallout directly from failing to manage the covid crisis successfully.
And who knows the impact of sedition and an insurrection!

Why get fixated on discussion with people who are not motivated in a similar way? On here there are two partisan groups who like to talk about their partisan opinions and outside that it is minimal discussion. There are a few here who will discuss any topic in either direction and see things similarly but that is rare. Then there are many here who think they are up for discussion and are not partisan but really that is just a rouse, it is obvious with a little bit of observation what true motivation and intentions are. When the rubber hits the road most of the time people show their true colors and get out the personal attack razor blades because they cannot handle discussion outside their partisan boundaries.
I am ok just stating my views and having it be contrarian in both directions because that is reality, neither partisan side is right and neither is wrong, there is no altruism in politics, our nature as humans is pretty lousy and it doesnt matter which party you like or what scripture you read or language you speak, how much money you have or what sports team you like. The majority of humans are selfish, partisan and jaded and it is ultra rare to find neutrality in the world and especially in politics.

really Wally ?? Who "likes to talk about their partisan opinions here ??
There is no "talk". Show me someone from the radical lib side who "likes to talk about their partisan opinions"..... waiting..... waiting....
There is no "talk". Only copy & paste from the regime narratives that you see propagated through mainstream media day in and day out.
This forum, coming from the far left, only copy & pastes the same garbage seen day in and day out on MSM and social media. It is so transparently predictable I find it hard to even have fun with it any more because there really is no room to doubt the legitimacy of these fake usernames.
I can skip out of here for a week or two, all while paying attention to what goes on in the real world through social media, then come back in here and know exactly what I am going to find regurgitated copy & pasted right in your very own favorite sub forum.
Yes, I get it, none of these fake azz propagandists are breaking any rules. That is correct, that is not my point. This sub forum exists for only one reason, and that has nothing to do with "discussion" or you allowing an "outlet" for the clown show to spew its' vitriol and hate so that it doesn't "spill over to the mains".
The "other side" is just a piece of this cess pool, without the dissenting moderate, right and far right MAGA people you would have no reason for this cess pool sub to exists.
Why? Because THERE IS NO DISCUSSION on anything left of the middle (mind you, what is moderate these days?).
Keep trying to spin it otherwise.... the attempts are futile and every day this joke of a sub forum just dies a little more, bit by bit.... god willing, one day it will have died out completely....

Your reply is proof of my above comments. It is almost like you have not been wading through the crap here for the last 15 years...well a few of us have and your perspective is based on a small sample of this section, it lacks experience and understanding human nature. This section NOW is dominated by a few who post to each other over and over but that does not mean it is dominated by one group, when Trump was throwing around his social media wrecking ball the forum was quite different. When Obama was president and a big group of members were against him the forum was quite different, when Bush was president it was quite different. There are ebb and flows of this forum just like there is in general society and the bottom line is human nature has characteristics and those are not going to change and if you read my above reply that is pretty much the conclusion I was making.
I would suggest trying to avoid content that bothers you and follow that which adds value for you. There are many threads in this section I do not follow as they are repetitive or not interesting, most stuff here I actually have to sift through just to make sure there arent abuses going on versus being interested in what the topic is. Same goes for the general forums, I have to check out lots of threads which I am not interested in but have potential for infractions and issues.

I've ventured back into the pre 2020 days to check out the forum titles and do a little research.... all I can say is there was not a copy & paste regurgitation of the same ole BS regime propaganda by the same 3 usernames and their aliases. These are not serious people we have here. Their intent and nature of their "business" here is not what you describe....
All they use it for now is to gaslight and promote the same BS day in and day out. It is a tool to their mission. Just like with tiktok, FB and IG. Poison.

It was never discussion it cant be discussion because the partisan participants do not want it, they want to gain acceptance of their partisan position or fight about their position and in return they want to put down others who do not share that position. Discussion has not existed here as a norm at any time because of our human nature.
What has changed is many vile personal abusive posters have been shown the door, those who could not maintain a baseline respect for others and some who were disgusting and horrible. That problem still exists here now and I imagine there will be more people shown the door as they are unable to respect others or at least shut their traps if they do not. Its ok to completely disagree with someone else, just keep the personal nasty stuff in your head and do not post it.
Its a nice concept, to think we can discuss and have differences but no way does it happen and it never has.

it can be done . But we have to slalom through and maneuver passed all of the obstacles that are in our way in order to do so , and for that one needs to be flexible .

All three indexes closed higher Thursday for a sixth-straight session The Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 158.11 points, to finish over 37,200!The S&P 500 rose 12.46 points, to close 4,719, near an all time record! The Nasdaq Composite gained 27.59 points, to end at 14,761.56. **I have nothing in the Nasdaq but glad I diversified to spread'em out from my mostly S&P holdings to include the DOW!
Fed pivots toward rate cuts
“The major takeaway from the December policy meeting is that the Federal Reserve is forecasting a soft landing, full employment and intends to reduce its federal funds policy rate by at least 75 basis points in 2024 to support the ongoing business expansions,” wrote Joseph Brusuelas, chief economist of account firm RSM, in a note Wednesday.
“From our vantage point that is about the best holiday gift a central banker can bestow upon the investment community, policymakers and the public,” he wrote.

It's hard to believe how wrong you are, and then FUBAH chimes in and " agrees" with your inaccurate statements..
First, economists were surprised how quickly the legislation began to pay for itself. You lefties have a hard time understanding that cutting taxes " ramps up economic activity ", thus increasing tax revenue even as the govt. Is taking a smaller cut.
Secondly, economic inequality "improved" under the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act... that's right. Let me put it for you another way. Wage growth of lower & middle income Americans increased "" at a faster pace "" than wealthy Americans..

All I want for Christmas is a little conversation in here , and maybe a bat signed by Ken Griffey Jr .
can someone answer this man back ?
so that we can get a little discussion ?
We all might learn something .
otherwise I’m just gonna have to keep reading the back of my cereal box during breakfast but guess what ?
I’m fucked on that right now too because Cinnamon Toast Crunch or General Mills or whoever is responsible decided to just put a giant drawing on the back of the box with a piece of cereal just smiling there like an idiot .
please help .

Last year, gas prices spiked above $5 a gallon following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which set off a panic in the oil market. Biden urged US oil companies to pump more oil – exactly the opposite of what climate scientists are calling for.....
Today the national average for a gallon of regular gas stood at just $3.08 a gallon, according to AAA - despite Biden having no control over OPEC's decision to reduce world supply well into 2024!

New government data illustrates just how strong
the record-breaking 2022 job market really was!
The annual jobless rate for 2022 – known as the “work-experience unemployment rate” – fell to 7.6%, according to the “Work Experience of the Population” report released annually by the Bureau of Labor Statistics!
The business group’s Consumer Confidence Index — a leading economic indicator of households’ future spending and saving patterns — jumped to a reading of 110.7 this month from just 101 in November!

New York CNN —
Last month, for the first time since April 2020, prices fell on a monthly basis, according to a closely watched report released Friday by the Commerce Department.
US inflation slowed further in November, and consumer spending continued to outpace expectations, lending further credence to the idea that the US Federal Reserve could stick its “soft landing” of bringing down inflation with a barrage of interest rate hikes while not throttling the economy into a recession.

“These data are consistent with a strong and growing economy bolstered by income gains above inflation and a dynamic labor market as inflation eases.”

CNN —
New government data illustrates just how strong
the record-breaking 2022 job market really was!
The annual jobless rate for 2022 – known as the “work-experience unemployment rate” – fell to 7.6%, according to the “Work Experience of the Population” report released annually by the Bureau of Labor Statistics!
The business group’s Consumer Confidence Index — a leading economic indicator of households’ future spending and saving patterns — jumped to a reading of 110.7 this month from just 101 in November!
Definitely that's good news for our country

More positive economic news . . . While the Stock Market continues on its upward trend, prices fell last month for the first time since April 2020!! New York CNN — Last month, for the first time since April 2020, prices fell on a monthly basis, according to a closely watched report released Friday by the Commerce Department. US inflation slowed further in November, and consumer spending continued to outpace expectations, lending further credence to the idea that the US Federal Reserve could stick its “soft landing” of bringing down inflation with a barrage of interest rate hikes while not throttling the economy into a recession.
November’s Personal Consumption Expenditures price index, a comprehensive measure of prices US households pay for goods and services, declined 0.1% from the month before, bringing the annual inflation rate to 2.6%.
It’s the first time the headline PCE index decreased on a monthly basis since the early stages of the Covid-19 pandemic. Annually, it’s a marked improvement from a 2.9% rate in October and the 40-year high of 7.1% notched in June 2022.

Tumbling gas prices — energy prices dropped 2.7% from October — drove the swing into negative territory, according to the report.

“This trend is as graceful and encouraging as anybody could have hoped for when the Fed started lifting rates,” Matt Colyar, Moody’s Analytics economist, told CNN.

“It’s another good, solid report, and it’s becoming increasingly [evident] that what the Fed has done has not initiated a recession and has coincided with their main goal, which is prices back down toward their 2% target.”
