We should be more worried about not doing shit to get sent to prison rather than specifically calling legislation, that targets prisoners, war on black people. Granted, we are disproportionately in prisons. Yes, laws are often interpretted unjustly, helping to fuel this. (Unfare sentences for crack as opposed to powder cocaine, ect. I could go on and on.) Yes, the private prison complex is flawed and could be called modern day slavery but the fact of the matter is that it's still prison. And 99.999999% of the people in jail did a crime. So I hate this notion, especially coming from a black man, because it's almost a defeatist attitude. Like "we're all fated to go to prison so any legislation involving prisons is directed at us..." Even if it is, in fact, directed at us. Prisons shouldn't be privately run entities to begin with, and the private prison industrial complex is royally f*cked, but please don't refer to this as war on African-Americans, even if you truly believe it to be. That does not help our cause.

And through it all, I made it clear to the loved ones privy enough to know what's up that hey, if I get locked, if I get popped, that's what comes with this shit and I knew that from the beginning. It cracks me up when criminals get on some "woe is me" shit. Don't do crimes. Don't get caught. Don't do stupid shit, or hang with sucka azz cats that will inevitably snitch on you but definitely don't try to play the victim.
But yeah, private prisons are ridiculously messed up but sadly, they aren't going anywhere. Largely because of, as you said, profit, slave labor, yadda, but also because governments just can't run these entities any more. Hugely because they are inept but also just because of cost. To pay a man a decent wage (i'm a union man, so I empasize "decent") in todays global economy, along with the pensions of retired/ing boomers, ect., things that shouldn't are sadly going to become more and more privatized. How long do you think you're going to be receiving male via USPS? How long do you think you'll be receiving mail, in a conventional sense? You're a little older than me but I promise you, barring untimely death, you'll live to see a time when there is no paper mail and packages are already routinely being delivered by drones. Not all packages, but it will be common place.
