Arkansas Republican Gov. Asa Hutchinson said Tuesday he regrets approving a statewide ban on face mask mandates earlier this year and has called the state Legislature into a special session in an effort to amend the law.
This isn't funny, so the rolling emoji would be inappropriate.... but it's kind of funny.
Look, I wasn't necessarily for mask mandates. I was vehemently opposed to them in gyms. Thought they were a minor inconvenience and not a big deal elsewhere. If I was running into the local Freddy's for 10 minutes, I wasn't gonna cry about a mask but I wasn't the, "Oh my god! Everyone must wear a mask guy!" either. However, I believe it should have been left up to each individual business, institution, etc. to make their own policy. And putting a ban on the freedom of a business to conduct business as it sees fit is freaking ridiculous.

It is easy to blame a politician but all of you in this thread know it is what the average citizen wants, not just the politicians. People wanted to not wear masks and that is why so many got the questionable vaccine. People would rather put this mRNA into their bodies not even knowing what it is doing or what it might do so they can return to their lives and stop wearing masks. I am shocked when I go shopping or do things I need that the high high majority are just back to what they were before, it is a foolish short sided decision to not continue being diligent and protective just because you got a vacc which we do not even know what impact it has going forward or if it will damage us down the road.
You cant blanket blame a politician but I've noticed down here that people and institutions WILLINGLY follow the removal of a mandate and are extremely hesitant to consider otherwise even with cases increasing.
If its so questionable why did so many doctors here in NY sign up their teenagers for trials months ago ? Many of these same doctors also signed up their children under 12 in the current trials??
Me personally I've lost an uncle , a friend, and 2 former coworkers to Covid..A relative in Oklahoma now needs a kidney after beating Covid...She joined a support group online where there are many thousands of people who also need a organ transplant...

Easy answers...doctors it is their profession and their path, they follow what the institution tells them and they believe it. Their blind belief does not mean all of a sudden mRNA is proven and safe and tested and without issue...no that is not the case at all. I know many who have died or struggled from this and most everyone is similar but that does not mean mRNA is proven and safe, it also does not mean that anyone who takes it can blindly return to their loose style of life. If people want to risk the vacc then that is their choice but the way people are not being careful and are returning to large gatherings is a huge mistake. Too many variables and unknowns to just act as if nothing happened and stop being careful.
I personally think this mRNA will have consequences in the mid and long term which we will uncover and I am hoping it will not be as bad as chicken pox. I think these were rushed, the results were not evaluated long enough and I question even the figures we were told. In the end the consumer is fully reliant on the truth and accuracy of a group who has full profit motive for creating this and I just do not trust the vacc myself.

The vaccines *WERE* definitely rushed.....and we know who was responsible for
desperately "rushing them" prior to the Nov presidential election.
That fact being obvious, it does not necessarily imply that because they were rushed
then the trump-vaccines are a high risk for being harmful. For all we know,
researchers at competing laboratories may have got lucky and discovered decent formulas
far earlier than normally anticipated, which are safe and effective!
The early trials appear to have shown that, so they got emergency approval in what we
might describe as "deperate times call for desperate measures"
So far the available evidence shows trump-vaccines have indeed disappointed in
the "hoped for" ability to completely prevent any and all infection.
But most importantly, HAVE shown to be highly effective in preventing deaths
and severe illness of THE ORIGINAL STRAIN of COVID-19.
We will note the efficacy was NEVER promised to be 100% - but even at 90-95% -
against the original strain - researchers inform us that in their field that is a
remarkable success given the incredibly short timeline!
BUT, now we have the DELTA and LAMDA variants to deal with - for which the current
trump-vaccines were *NOT* specifically developed. Luckily the vaccines appear to
provide significant (though not perfect!) protection from severe illness from those.
The DELTA seems to spread among vaxxed and UNvaxxed almost equally - although
the vaxxed are LARGELY protected from severe illness/death. UNvaxxed are not.

However, as those strains mutate further, literally weekly, I am NOT optimistic
that the current vaccines will provide ANY protection at all from, infection, severe illness,
and deaths. Boosters are unlikely to help much against *newly mutated* strains.
Soon those variants will mutate so much that in effect they are akin to a whole new virus
and we will need completely new vaccines.

to propel a distance of about 6 feet into another's air space.

Thus, what works at stopping the spread is mitigation measures -
when actually followed by *EVERBODY*
Mitigation measures WILL NOT WORK when half the population REFUSES.
Just like in football - if all the players follow their assignments the offense WORKS!
But if 2 or 3 players decide to do something else - the offense collapses.
That's when dumbass Governors go on television to proclaim "masking doesn't work."
We must mask EVEN WHEN FULLY VAXXED and in a low risk group *BECAUSE*

The dummies in our society mistakenly think that masking is ONLY to protect THEM -
so they should have the right to REFUSE to mask if they are willing to accept the

when strict laws are put in place across the country regarding driving while drunk.

Florida, which has the second-highest rate of new cases per capita after Louisiana, children's hospitals and staff are "overwhelmed," said Dr. Aileen Marty, an infectious disease expert at Florida International University.
"The numbers of cases in our hospitals in children and our children's hospitals are completely overwhelmed," Marty told CNN's Jim Sciutto on Friday evening.
"Our pediatricians, the nursing, the staff are exhausted, and the children are suffering. And it is absolutely devastating. ... Our children are very much affected. We've never seen numbers like this before," she said.
Marty noted that Nicklaus Children's Hospital in Miami is at 116% occupancy for Covid-19 patients.
