That's because more Republicans technically register as Independent and so although you might think that number is important, it's actually misleading.  It's skewed since Republicans think they're independent of the party but would never vote for a Democrat.  This is something that can't be gauged by the numbers or the polls.  I'm quite certain I'm correct and so although it is good to have independents, Trump is going to need to do more than that to get a landslide victory.  Did you know his campaign isn't spending money in Michigan?  No, they don't think he's going to dominate there.  They don't think he can win the state.

Team Trump is crazy to think they can not win Michigan. Especially after Michiganders have lived underneath the iron fist of Governor Whitmer during the pandemic.

Just my opinion. I think that people who say they are independent vote for Dems.

Well, as much as you don't believe in polls, the article I read cited that specifically as to why Trump's campaign decided to stop spending money in the state.  Also, you may want to consider that you're quoting numbers from 2016 but then Whitmer won in 2018.  So if you think that's where the electorate is at, then how did Democrats manage to win the governorship?  It's obviously not luck and I'm presuming Trump's people don't think so as well.  They believe in some of the data and they're spending elsewhere.  I was actually surprised because I thought of Michigan as a Republican state.  I suppose it's possible Snyder did some damage to the Republicans' standing in the state.

Haha I like the confidence.  I'm just telling you what I read and it's probably not the best analogy but you follow the money, just like the show that's on television (it's a show that discusses gambling and odds).  So if I see Trump's team not spending on campaign ads in the state, I have to think they're concerned about Trump's chances there.  

Many claims said at republican national convention aren't based on reality.  According to factcheck.org, Trump falsely claims democrats want to get rid of postal workers.  However house democrats have been trying to obtain $25 billion emergency funding for USPS which Trump opposes.  In addition, Trump wrongly claims wait time for highway approvals have been reduced from 17-21 years to 1-2 years.  But according to federal highway administration, median wait time haven't changed much for both Obama and Trump administrations.

The RNC featured a police officer who credited Trump for overdose deaths declining in 2018 for the first time in 30 years.

They did decline in 2018 for the first time in 28 years...but then rose to a record high in 2019.

I won't take complete credit for this but I saw someone talking about opioid deaths in America.  I realized just how right the person was about it.  Go look at the states with the highest usage rates.  All of the states are Republican.  We can safely conclude that does lead to many Republicans dying from the overdoses and in addition to that, one would have to think their families are suffering as well.  Isn't that good news for Americans?  We need to get rid of the trash and I can't think of anything better than this.  I believe you're highlighting one of the few positives when it comes to Trump's presidency.

he was speaking for himself, not the school, the university president said in
a statement Thursday.

Father John Jenkins' statement was in response to remarks Holtz
made for the Republican National Convention.

"While Coach Lou Holtz is a former coach at Notre Dame,
his use of the University’s name at the Republican National Convention
must not be taken to imply that the University endorses his views,
