Millions of dollars’ worth of merchandise has been stolen from retailers in San Francisco, California Retail Association President Rachel Michelin told Fox News, adding that the funds from stolen items are ultimately used by crime syndicates.
"This sort of thing is becoming so normal," the witness told Lee.

Hey Barbara, CRIMINALS DO NOT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT THE PUBLIC. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU SUPPORT DE-FUNDING THE POLICE. YOU SEND THE MESSAGE TO CRIMINALS THAT THEY'LL HAVE MORE FREEDOM TO STEAL AND ROB. FROM YOU!
She likely supported the de-fund police movement and her first call after getting robbed is to call the police. Likely another hypocrite.

Don't be fooled brother. It's all staged PR for an agenda. Nothing gets "reported or alleged" to have happened in the corrupt MSM just as naturally occurring news. She had her cell phone taken. And then just happened to stumble into the very same Verizon store right near the scene of the "crime" where she had just bought the phone 2 days ago to call police.
Crime-all-the-time stories in the SF MSM composes the majority of the "news" these days. It's not organic and it's not by accident. Here's another staged PR story from today:
"Report: Windows broken at Gov. Newsom's family-owned wine shop in SF." It "MAY have been targeted by theives, according to a "report."
Oh, know. Petty theft must be the main issue plaguing SF. Yea that's it. No, don't focus on the criminal cartels holding power at the top. Their famous and widespread corruption in SF should be ignored. We have viral videos for you to look at. Don't focus on the corruption at the top, just look at the Petty crime videos. And Detox has a whole collection for you to focus on.
Meanwhile Gov. Newsom's latest tyrannical edict: "Restaurants, bars, movie theaters must close again in 19 CA counties." So, yea I guess that won't put more people on the street and be the cause of more poverty, homelessness and Petty theft, now will it?
Relax. I'm unvaxxed!

I'm from Oakland. I promise you this wasn't a PR stunt. When I was growing up, someone like Barbara Boxer wouldn't have even lived in Oakland except for the hills, Montclaire, etc. They definitely wouldn't have been just walking around. Gentrification has got people feeling like everything is all honky dory but robbery, armed AND strongarm, are traditions in Oakland. Old pasttimes like baseball. She's been around a long time and she knows better.

Barbara Boxer has been retired for like 4 or 5 years, and hasn't been very vocal in retirement. So it's unfair to her, and completely asinine, to say what she "probably supports unless you're aware of some tweet or something. As far as defunding the police goes, one should look at the budget of a city like Oakland, or Oakland specifically, for the coming fiscal years. Look at what percentage of the budget goes to policing. All defunding the police says is maybe a small fraction of that money would be of better use somewhere else. Truth be told, Oakland is one of the few cities where I actually support defunding the police. They are a horrible department. Atrocious solve rates. Rife with scandal going back as long as I can remember. And they milk the clock. There's a few close family friends and OPD. They milk it. Not so much your everyday beat cops but from detective on, they get over.

It's all correlated, from the top down. I agree with what you say about the power at the top. But petty crime runs rampant in Oakland. I already know Newsom is going to shut everything down again in a few months as the cold weather approaches and it's going to hurt the economy even more. But IMO that's exactly what the gov't wants, everyone relying on the gov't so the gov't has more control. Petty theft also keeps good people inside which will also hurt businesses.
@StumpTownStu
Cops are milking the clock because they're waiting for the major crimes. They don't give a shit about excessive speeding, wrekless driving, petty theft, stolen cars, car break ins etc. They are waiting for major action. So taking less cops off the streets and making that information public IMO is only going to increase crime. The police as is can not take every call because there are so many with so few patrolling. Why do you think insurance rates are so crazy high in Oakland? The city of Oakland can not even fill pot holes in their streets. Oakland needs to clean up their homeless and trash problem. IMO that is why the Raiders left, the Warriors left and soon to be the A's leaving. Oakland could have been a great city to visit all year by having all 3 major sports teams. If only the city could clean their streets and provide safe family activates before and after the games. The city can thrive off sports teams, but they lost them. IMO because they can not clean up their own streets. Everything around the sports complex is un-family friendly.

More retail stores closing due to theft. San Francisco can NOT curb the crime rate in the city and businesses have left in record numbers due to the uprising in theft in the city.
THIS IS THE DEMS DREAMS COMING TRUE. SOON TO BE TO A CITY NEAR YOU.
So 5 stores which should hire around 20-40 people per store is going to see another 100-200 people hitting the unemployment lines due to theft on a daily basis.
Walmart says the increased costs will be absorbed by the company, but we all know they'll push pricing higher and onto the consumer.
Dems rewarding the criminals and making honest citizens pay the price.

Almost half of San Francisco residents are planning on moving out of the city due to rising crime and a deteriorating quality of life, according to a recent poll.
The poll of 500 San Franciscans, commissioned by the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, showed that just over 40% of residents plan to move out of the city in the next few years.
Additionally, 8 out of 10 people polled said crime has increased in the city, and almost 90% of those polled said they believe that the homeless crisis has gotten worse. Roughly three-quarters of residents in San Francisco said their quality of life has declined over the past year.
Recent survey ;
Forty-eight percent of respondents said the region was headed in the right direction, while 52 percent said it was on the wrong track. Seventy-one percent thought the quality of life is worse now than it was five years ago.
More than 50% plan on moving out.

Many, not only in San Fran, will say their quality of life has declined. The pandemic, businesses closing, savings depleted & the fear of becoming homeless is widespread in the country.
I don't understand how businesses' allow the thefts to continue without making changes to how they operate that business. If someone steals from me, I prosecute them & I ban them from my premises. If the police don't want to deal with the "nuisance arrests" then I am forced as a business owner to hire armed security to protect my employees & customers. The thieving scumbags will go elsewhere to steal because my business will no longer be an easy mark for them. I would incur the additional cost because it's the right thing to do for the reasons I mentioned.
Back to San Fran, those leaving for other areas of the state or out of state will be quickly be replaced by others willing to live with the current situation & possibly improve their quality of life with better housing and job opportunities. A similar social situation took place in NYC at the start of the pandemic.
Citizens of this country have decided they are no longer willing to work for employers that won't pay a living wage with benefits & are willing to do something else with their lives by either making career changes or lifestyle changes. Many have learned they don't need much to be happy. They are no longer willing to be attacked by customers (airline, restaurants etc) especially when a company does not support their workforce.
Times have changed. How we interact with each other has changed. I agree the country is divided & people like me are not willing to accept those who support the 1/6 insurrectionists as well as those who continue to spread the Big Lie. It just isn't going to happen.

In CA, security is not allowed to touch robbers in action. Once the theft makes it past the door security can not follow. They are asked to call the police. The same police that will not show up for robbery. So the criminals know that security can not touch them and the police do not give a shit. If you do touch someone stealing and they become injured, they'll just take you to court and the liberal judges will just side with the criminal. It's pretty sick actually. So the only protective measures the stores would take was to lock up medicine, razors, alcohol, really anything small and over $10 that criminals would target to re-sell. They would steal back packs full of shampoo!
I swear that's the truth. I was visiting SF to attend a sporting event, went into a Super market and while waiting at the door for buddies some dude with a backpack full of shit was running out. Knocked over a stand on his way out and broke a lot of shit Security stopped at the door while the robber left. Asked the security what he stole and he said "shampoo". He literally stole a backpack full of shampoo. That was when security could actually try to stop someone in the store. Now, they can not even lay a finger on them. That's why crime is out of control, the robbers know the security rules and businesses can not do anything about it.
Police won't even show up to car break ins any more. There's too many. That's literally all the police would be doing on a daily basis. You can not go 4 blocks without seeing a broken window or talking to someone that's had their bike stolen. SF is a literal and figurative shit hole.

A living wage is fair with the right education, credentials or work experience in due time. People claiming min wage jobs should be "living wage" is a fallacy. IMO a fallacy pushed by the left to cause an uproar. A fallacy pushed by people that do not understand business. Sorry, but a person flipping burgers, or mopping floors doesn't need a "living wage". What would be the incentive to make the world better by being bottom level? Min wage jobs are meant to suck and for people to hate them. They are designed to piss people off so they work harder to achieve more. Min wage jobs are not designed to afford a mortgage or support a family. If that was the case, nobody would be able to afford a home. Min wage jobs (not "living wage") are designed for young adults just learning work experience, for students to help support basic needs while attending school, for kids living at home trying to save for when they go off to school/military or a trade school. IMO people get "min wage" confused with "living wage" and IMO that's from the left pushing an idea that anyone who is employed should be able to afford a mortgage on a SFR.

Two SF Prosecutors Quit, Join Effort to Recall District Attorney Chesa Boudin
They are among at least 51 lawyers at the San Francisco District Attorney's Office who have either left or been fired since Boudin took office in January 2020, according to documents obtained by the Investigative Unit – that's about a third of the department's attorneys now gone.
Both attorneys accuse Boudin of making San Francisco more dangerous by regularly handing down lenient sentences, releasing criminals early, and, in some cases, not filing charges at all, despite sufficient evidence proving those individuals committed violent crimes.

A San Francisco restaurant has apologized after the owners said their staff refused to serve three police officers because the presence of weapons made them "uncomfortable."
Kristina Liedags Compton and Rachel Sillcocks, co-owners of North Beach restaurant Hilda and Jesse apologized after after three uniformed officers with the San Francisco Police Department were asked to leave the establishment Friday morning.
NBC’s Sergio Quintana spoke to several residents including Kerry about what they thought of the incident.
“I'm also at a place of privilege where I can ask for help and it happens. So I've never felt that way. But for other people, they might,” she said.
