Maybe this was a backlash against trumpism for seemingly encouraging armed violence against Whitmer and being an asshole about the entire event.

 Agreed.    Possible.   But then there's always Manchin and Sinema to phck it all up!  So they need to win by a 52 - 48 majority (pick up at least one senate seat)  or the Dems and America will be held hostage by one or both of those two senators once again.

thats a good point   and the dems have gained one senate seat so far   with georgia and arizona seats very much in play !

and even when the house flips as always happens in the 1st midterm    if the majority is very thin   it is still possible for a majority dem senate to make legislation that the house might pass bcuz they dont always vote just party lines there !!

Well no not mostly.   I was going with the strong election trend towards a backlash against the party in power, with polls supporting that trend.

At this point, because the republicans appear to be failing their gleefully promoted "red wave"  my bets on them will likely cost me any profit this time and possibly some losses.    ~ sigh ~  

Very good point, and likely largely overlooked by most, but true.  Any party must definitely have the Senate for sure, but might still be able to govern even with a thin majority with the opposition party in the House. Possibly.  Things like raising the debt ceiling would be much more likely to pass.

Also, the House leader with a thin majority which Pelosi also had creates difficulties within their party since if even just a few GOP support a Democrat bill it could pass!!     Of course I am speaking of funding conciliation related bills that don't require a 60 vote Senate to pass.

msnbc    is projecting the repos big red wave is just a ripple

instead of a msssive majority like the right wing cable channels and ppundits were joyously predicting msnbc analysts are projecting a slim majority of around 219 seats give or take 10 either way

its intresting    that in a swing state    and the expected backlash in the first midterm of a new president   the repo candidate endorsed by donnie chump  couldnt even defeat a guy still clearly suffering from the effects of a stroke

They have to be disappointed.   Big majorities in both House and Senate were well within their reach, and they blew it.

The Independent in Georgia Chase Oliver who has siphoned off 2% of the vote in an otherwise tossup that is going to run off between Warnock and Walker figures to be very popular starting tomorrow.

Each side will be trying to woo his endorsement and the handful of votes he might be able to help with could just very well be the difference in the US senate!

Watch.
