Looks like climate change isn't a NEW phenomenon.

I wonder just how many ice cubes up North had to melt to make this possible.

You realize that no one can wave a manic wand and look in to a crystal ball. A this all just magically happens. You are talking about a massive infrastructure undertaking.
And hence how do you pay labor a bowl of barley and a task masters whip?

How much will it cost to restructure shorelines?

A tidal damn can pay for itself first introduced by FDR the transatlantic coast tidal energy plant uses motion of tides to drive turbines. This allows electicty usage to off set costs of project. Ocean front security could be established through a gating custom station gates in thebatlantic hurricane areas. The tidal damn could be self reliant after start up structure costs are assessed and we could pump back the water from the elect city the entire plant produces.
Take wall plan complete it continue it on tidal boundaries so secure.

Maybe good for producing electricity but not keeping water from encroaching on coastline.

It is truly remarkable that I was able to sleep each night for the last 5 years! The lefty lunatic from the Great North named Greta Thunberg stated on 21 June 2018 that fossil fuels will destroy the planet in 5 years! Her very ominous tweet follows.

'A top scientist is warning that climate change will wipe out all of humanity unless we stop using fossil fuels over the next 5 years!'

Code for global warming is depopulation!

Global warming is happening. If you look at NASA data going back to 1900 the temps were rising then. The 1950-60's saw a lull and it continued on. The last 20 years the rate has accelerated from previous rates. Carbon dioxide does slow the heat from escaping to space. Fossil fuels at some point will run out so we do need to look ahead and find equal or better alternatives through technological advances.

BUT then you have folks who want to profit from this situation. Whether it is a scientist looking for grant money or a washed up politician looking for personal fame and a following. And you have humans who rely more on emotion than logic. (my opinion from observation) I am sure "expert scientists" would say banning gas stoves, lawn mowers and chainsaws pales in comparison to, say, USC and UCLA joining the Big10 that will result in countless air travel time for all universities involved. Which in turn will add exhuast far exceeding that from millions of small engines and appliances. Meanwhile countries like China build a coal fired plant at a rate of one every week. Amazing how they glue their hands to paintings and slash SUV tires yet ignore the obvious bigger issues.

The bottom line is if it is really "code red" these two universities should never have done what they did and it was done for money. China would not be permitted to build coal fired plants.

I have an acquaintance who lives in mid Michigan. Sent me a text back in March, "next three months are going to be much warmer!" the text said. Really? So I am tracking it via Weather Underground data going back 51 years. March came in at 22nd hottest month last 51 yrs, April came in 6th, May came in 23rd, and June currently stands as the 26th hottest June with 8 days to go including today. Forecast looks like it may bump up just a little. Bottom line is 3 out of 4 months are/were basically middle of the road with April having a week of hot weather that pushed it up. Not at all three months of much warmer weather. But it is pounded at us daily and many swallow it without question.

So my point is, like Jan 6th, like the hatred for Trump, like the lies associated with these two examples there are those who take it "over the top" everytime. Always an extreme, "POLICE OFFICERS DIED ON JAN 6TH!!!!","IT WAS AN INSURECTION", "TRUMP'S CHARITY NEVER GAVE MONEY AWAY", "SEA LEVELS WILL RISE SEVERAL FEET NEXT 5 YEARS".

Climate change is happening and will continue. We can't control the weather. A few huge volcanic eruptions could send temps plummeting. What we can do is logically look at the big picture and pursue technology that gets us away from fossil fuels, not some kneejerk emotional reaction that does little good.

The biggest polluters in the world are the politicians.   If the politicians acted responsibly like the average American, maybe temperatures would not rise as much.

Nobody hurts the climate more than Obama, Oprah, Gore, Trump, Pelosi, Harry and Meghan, and John Kerry is the biggest polluter.

Yes, Thunberg in 2018 was quoting an article that was talking about a speech by a Harvard University professor of atmospheric chemistry. The article said the professor said "A top climate scientist is warning that climate change will wipe out all of humanity unless we stop using fossil fuels over the next five years.”

But the article was lying, the professor never said those words. So a news media outlet embellished the words of a professor to exagerate a cause and this young lady swallowed it and repeated it like it was truth.

"The whole problem is knowingly spreading false information to vulnerable people" Where have I seen that before?

Federal judge rules that Trump Environmental protection agency cannot block billions in funding for green energy projects under Inflation reduction act approved by congress.  No significant evidence of misconduct, fraud and conflicts of interest as alleged by Trump administration.

According to Mother Jones, Americans could die from health secretary Kennedy's firing of thousands of employees in  Low income energy assistance program.  Millions of  people could lose access to affordable home heating and air conditioning in extreme weathers.

So, how many thousands of employees from LIHEAP fired????

    https://www.stlpr.org/2025-04-14/liheap-federal-layoffs-utility-assistance-funding

About 25 staffers were responsible for calculating and disbursing funds annually from the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program to U.S. states, territories and tribes.

And from that Mother Jones article; .....the agency could move the program to another department within HHS or contract out the responsibilities. an_light

Rising global temperatures are set to devastate food crops across the world in the future according to study published in Nature journal.  Stanford study projects overall effect is detrimental to food production.  Expect scarcer supply, less nutritious food and higher prices for larger population.  Some of the richest countries are likely to be the hardest hit.  In the US, key crops could decline 50% by the end of this century.  Not a mystery that climate change affects food production because it is the most exposed sector in the economy.

Nature journal is one of the world's leading science journals.  Publishing the finest peer reviewed research.  Myth is that higher carbon dioxide levels universally boost plant growth.  Numerous factors influence crop yield, including water, temperature and nutrient levels.

Myth is that man-made carbon dioxide is causing global warming.
Very unfortunate that so many folks cannot think critically and look at the same data that scientists  on both sides use.
Nature Journal is not the source to use for this argument.
    For example:

Editors of the journal Nature follow the evidence, except when it is politically inconvenient

    and:

However, the discussion of the study noted that the results should not be dismissed. “Even with these caveats,” the author noted, “the study deserves attention because of what is at stake — credibility. Nature and other scientific publications provide a service for the scientific community and for the world in conveying rigorous, unbiased scientific information. One of the reasons these publications have this capacity is the credibility they have built up over decades.”

The primary value of journals like Nature is to provide information that is credible and can be trusted. Spending that crediblity on electoral politics undermines the primary value that such journals offer.
