You have it wrong because the restriction is not for many countries at all, so this does not impact China hardly at all. So back slap Trump all you want, it is doing nothing. Do you know what WIP is anyway? WIP is work in progress goods...so China develops and can build the majority of the product, then ship it to Malaysia to put some screws in and ship...all with zero tariff. If Trump was serious, as I stated above he would put the tariff on ALL and ANY country importing panels...of all scope, not just residential panels that China develops....but then that cannot happen because it would impact corporate interests and profits here. Notice the theme.
And yeah same thing happened with Obama, thanks for the Obama reference, it is so important to tit-for-tat as you guys love to do.
It's only a fact ....why so sensitive ?
The larger solar trade dispute with China happens to date back to at least 2012...if we are going to talk about something ..we need to know the history...so as to no repeat mistakes. You disagree with that ?
It's also my understanding the President's decision followed recommendations for tariffs,, by the U.S. International Trade Commission ......and that according to a report by CNN... although most solar panels come from China the tariffs it will apply to all imported solar panels. So if I'm wrong........ I blame the Most Trusted Name in News..
One way foreign manufactures of solar components can get around the tariffs ...is by building factories in the U.S... another win.

This reply made no sense you did not address anything at all. What is this about dating back to 2012, why stop there go all the way back to Lyndon Johnson or Herbert Hoover...why stop at 2012? The problem is you always have to take a jab at a democrat when someone points out an issue. That is moronic.
The other stuff aout the most trusted name in news, the ITC all that crap what exactly is the purpose for stating these tangent gems? The point is that this thread was created to try and make Trump out to be something that he isnt. He isnt playing tough with China, this is a 5 second media sound bite for the unintelligent. This does nothing, there are work arounds and it is a joke period. At least Obama if we are trying to do this tit for tat crap had tariffs on steel as well, which Trump has not done yet. Making a generic tariff on steel is a bit more serious because the work arounds are not as easy. How do I know about the steel tariff from Obama? Well when I was doing my solar array I was in the process of purchasing the racking for the panels and the company I found ended up being from China and I found out the tariff would end up being about the cost of the product so I went with another company instead. I had no experience with steel tariffs but I learned a thing or two from the experience..that the government targets CERTAIN things to make a point...and other things they ignore...and the reasons for what is hit and what isnt is quite obvious.

I check back in and Wallstreet now claims the tariffs do nothing and is under the impression the thread was created to tout a Trump policy.
First part correct...they do nothing. They are a fly on the shoulder of China. If China wanted they could completely stop any shipments and offshore the final production process and shipping and it would have little to no economic impact. So you are correct.
Second part...so what was the purpose? Trump....tariff...solar panels...uninformed information....so what did I miss? You had no idea China went from the highest shipper in 2010 to 10% by 2016, or this thread might have not been created...its as you guys call it a massive nothing-burger.

Yes, every time a thread is created to bash Trump it is a massive nothing burger. You’re really coming around lately.
Oh contraire...I think the OP has it right. The issue is that it accomplishes nothing, not what the purpose was. I think the reason for the thread is spot on...Trump deserves every single critical comment and then some. Speaking of that, how is it that nobody has said a peep about the fat old guy cheating on his wife after she just had their kiddo? How can this be ignored and shoved under the carpet by you guys?
Smells very hypocritical and biased....

I dated back to 2012, because that's when duties and tariffs on China started on solar panels....you are confusing the topic about solar panels, to be about tariffs in general..Which, I see as very misleading ..that is unless,, you can show a citation, that LBJ or HH applied Tariffs to China for solar panels..
You also say ....I have it wrong because the restriction is not for many countries at all, so this does not impact China hardly at all.....well I could be wrong, because I got my info from fake news CNN,,,,but it is my understanding, that the tariffs it will apply to all imported solar panels. You have something different on this I would like to know..otherwise it is not me who has it wrong..
Also as a side note: You of all people lecture members about deflecting and going off the topic ..yet you bring up an unproven tabloid allegation as a diversion from the topic ,,about the President having an alleged affair with a porn star...nice!
Plus,, the records have it that when this reported affair happened in 2006 Donald Trump was a registered Democrat ..something I know you will enjoy throwing back at me as being irrelevant.. lol
One thing though we can agree on.. taking a jab a democrat or republican sitting President is moronic.

You have to work way too hard SS...it is not natural for you to retort at all, I think you need a nap after all that work.
Regarding tariffs I said since you were again and always bringing in Obama to the discussion that at least Obama hit more than Trump, that steel is a larger and broader target that had more impact on China IF that was the intention. So if Trump was trying to make an impact and tick off China/South Korea then he missed because China is already a step ahead as noted earlier.
The porno chick comment was based on the reply you made which went off topic...so blame yourself if you do not like that step off the path. But that question still stands, why would someone like YOU still support Trump after he did such a disgusting thing? Or are you really not concerned with what a slimeball he is as long as he does your bidding?

You skipped right over the tariffs applying to all

"Not natural for me to retort at all"...don't make me laugh.. I've answered your post in threads were you seem to disappear and never answer... I can bump those thread if you want?
You skipped over the tariffs applying to all imported solar panels,so it must be,, that I was right and you were ....incorrect in what you posted.
Solar panels might be the first product that President Trump goes after ...Steel and aluminum maybe next ..we will have to wait and see..
....and it's very weak ..blaming me for something you posted about the porn star..I did not make you do it ..you did it all by yourself..
As far as,, President Trump being a ..what you call a slimeball in the past..I would not care if he was second coming of the Marquis de Sade back then..he loves this country and is doing the things that will make America stronger militarily and economically ....and that's what people should be concerned about... unless you are one of those people who liked how our culture was being radically changed and state rights being trampled on by the previous administration. ..if your are one of those people, then I see how you despise President Trump so much.

What do you mean by "at least Obama hit more than Trump ?''
To my knowledge Obama only put a 3 to 4% duty on solar Panels from China ..and that's what you call hitting hard.....
....also you were not posting to me about the porn queen it was to I_Need_A_detox..so your excuse about why you post it ..really does not fly... as Herman Cain liked to say "that dog won't hunt"..
