Trump Tariffs and job losses

Last year around this time Our President put in The Mooch to shake up his cabinet .Think of this Presidency as a macro to that Micro .

I am sure it will be a little Ong long time before the people in the DNC rig an election and claim they need grass roots supporting the

Cause..... 

Well lets see here..

The FED has artificially held rates at absurd levels so corps and the government can load up on debt, Trump handed the elite and corps a massive freebie burger that we will be paying on for the next ten years...our debt levels keep climbing and climbing, the income disparity is getting worse.

Arent we supposed to be increasing the strength of the economy, reduce debt and increase savings during economic times that are positive? So we are crowning Trump for a 4.1 GDP at what cost? How much are we paying for this mediocre GDP print, and what has the cumulative GDP been for Trump's tenure historically?

Our economy is lopsided, full of debt, very low on savings and very very thin at the strength given how much we have paid to make this happen.

When was the last time we had a balanced budget let alone a budget surplus?

Wallstreet spot on man. This about as fair an analysis of the projected debt surpasses 35 the trillion  before 2025. 

We have very little to show for the 20 trillion we invested in the destabilizing the middle East packages that Bush 2 sold us and even less that this administration is driving though.

2- All of these tariffs were not just imposed for no reason. The "deplorable gangster" President asked these countries to reduce their tariffs. He said he wanted no tariffs, no product dumping, no subsidies for domestic products...ETC. They said "NO" 

It is AFTER the "deplorable savage gangster President" that these tariffs were imposed. BIG DIFFERENCE.  The goal is free trade. isn't it? The goal is not tariffs. The goal is to create and protect American products and jobs. 

3- Harley Davidson has difficulty selling bikes this year after they raised the prices on their high end bikes to over $40,000. How many people want to pay that much for a new bike? Why did they raise it so much (from $25,000)? Because they FINALLY changed the engine designs, increased the efficiency and the stability of their bikes. They are the best bikes in the world. There will be a market for quality. 

Also, their retail brand is doing well. The used bike market is healthy. People want Harleys. I have one. 

I'm not a huge fan of Mr trump, but I think he will be good for business, for job creation and economic stimulation. He will likely get two terms. He is solidifying his position, making international gains in Korea, Syria, with ISIS, increasing NATO spending from partners. He is a gangster, but Americans are suckers for them.

Company spokespersons always try to be the 'squeeky wheel" and there is always paranoia out there, much of it hysteria.

I have heard farmers on NPR this week, and they are adjusting, finding new markets. Also, the tariffs on soy, grains to China (chinese tariffs) are still lower than they were about 5 years ago. But noone reports that. In other words, farmers can still sell even though there are tariffs imposed by China.

The Budget. Spending and appropriations.

US Government received 3.7 trillion 

Income taxes took in 1.6 trillion dollars social security and medicare took in 1.2 trillion corporation another .35 trillion.  Problem we are spending over 4 trillion our GDP is near 20 trillion.and the national debt has reached a little more than 20 trillion tariffs accumulated in 2017 to 44 billion. Our debt to GDP is nearly even as the us government spending accumulated to a little over 22 percent this Trump's of 4percent growth? We spending from the us Treasury. We borrow more spend.more and owe more.... If the GDP grew 1 percent and we cut spending by 1 percentage point we could.be a huge cheering victory's for Trump but this is artificially inflated by debt we pass to our great grand children....

In an deeper analysis of what is mandatory for spending and discretion spending and intra governmental agencies spending we gain from our investment. We have Treasury bonds and dividend provided for by the stimulus program this does not add very significantly but it exists.

In this realm defense contracts and land leases seem to offset for.personal requires for military. It not set ad direct but from the revenue received and the revenue released it would off set.

But as this Novel by this time concludes and to the topic of Tariffs. Congress actually is charged as a duty to collect tariffs for the common defense and security of our Nation. 

If we could bring tariffs to national defense level spending hence actually allowing our President to perform the duties of execution of the executives branch with the allowance of Congress. Than what he is doing is Constitutionally b accepted.and encourage 

Bottom line we raise 44 million in Tariffs we spend a shit load more in defense.

Fantastic post..  Sarasota Slim posts about GDP growth, and you fail to address it.  Great job (insert sarcasm).

The truth is that GDP has increased nicely under Trump, and yeah, I don't think anybody would call a "stable economy" at 1.9% growth a success..  The sooner you folks on the left realize that "real" GDP growth and real wage growth are the secrets to better standards of living .. the better.   Get on board with the facts you guys !   

C'mon Wall.. You're better than that .  Do we really want to have an honest discussion  about debt problems of the U.S.

The real issues causing the debt to get so out of hand include Medicare, Social Security, and Medicaid.. but what politician wants to handle that grenade ?  Anytime republicans even broach the subject , they are accused of pushing granny off the cliff.. 

The truth is that the entire country is being pushed to the cliff if we fail to address these primary issues causing the problem.

So, what was your comment above really about when  talking about debt levels and Trump's tax cuts.    Let's talk about the real drivers of debt... then we can honestly fix the problem..

You can thank the Federal Reserve for the anemic growth that took place under O'bama.  And ,  it IS amazing that the economy grew at all under O'bama... and if you doubt this, I have a simple question for you.  What did he accomplish while in office that helped the economy grow ??

So how much should a 1.9% GDP cost, how much for a 4.1%?

Under Trump the budget deficit is increasing, taxes decreasing for the wealthy and corps, the real TAB for the "cost" will be borne in the future, so higher deficits and higher borrowings...is this how you grow an economy?

What happened to reducing government, reducing deficits, increasing the strength of the country under this bogus president?

I see nothing to be proud of with our government spending, our deficits, the way he touted himself to the middle class and has done nothing but serve the upper class and corps. I read he is going to cut taxes even more to the upper in the near future, it must be time for some campaign handouts.

So back to the question...how much should that fake bump in GDP cost? Do you care or are you just another Trump back slapper?

What did Trump do? A tax cut for the rich? Trickle-down economics? It's funny, Obama inherits an economy in shambles, brings it back including job growth/drops in unemployment, ect. and he didn't really do anything. Trump inherits an economy that was clicking along, simply continues more or less the same pace of growth for a year and s half and he's a miracle worker.

Reality is governments spend money and collect taxes....thats what they do. Once in a while they start some war to make money for corps or to take some country over.

So with that understood, what would you rather spend the money on? I think you are a tad bit misinformed about lumping items like SS and Medicare and Medicaid into the other bucket btw but the question is what would you rather spend money on?

I would prefer to spend money on social programs, hard infrastructure (roads, grid, etc) and take care of the people who have the least. Obama and DEMS in general tend to side to that part of the swing of course after paying off corps because they ALL do that....Repubs tend to give money to the wealthy and corps and foolishly think that giving money to the elite will filter down to the lesser thans and history shows that is a total pathetic fraud argument. 

The economy is not growing under Trump at all, the bump you saw and only saw in one quarter was due to the extra freebies and corp freebies that were not warranted and have not been paid for....so THEY got the steak and WE have not paid for THEIR steak yet...the elite got their payment and the lesser will pay for it in the next 2-10 years per the way this was crafted.

Real GDP growth is not created from corps loading up on debt to reduce share float and increase earnings off that cheap debt...it is not created from giving tax holidays to corps or cutting taxes on the wealthy off more and more government debt. Real GDP comes not from gimmicks and slide of hand games, it comes from increases in demand from the lower and middle class, the real drivers of the economy and we do not have that.

How can you come and pat Trump on the back for ONE print when the rest have been mediocre while continuing to escalate debt?

Extreme partisan politics ?  Listen, I'm a constitutional conservative that believes in a smaller government is one that best serves us all.  Is Trump reducing the size of government, or at least making attempts to do so (Yes.).  Pay attention to the reductions in regulations.    What about Obama.   What did he do ??  Obamacare ?  Great.  What did he do to better serve the economy ?   Nothing !   

You really need to educate yourself better , and understand the principles that make this country a success.  It's smaller government, not a larger one... And if you can't distinguish between the two, then I can't really help you........

Folks on the right better understand that is "we" that have a better idea on how to spend our money, rather than have someone else take our money (i.e. government) and distribute it how they see fit.  I realize that some tax on individuals is necessary, but I also recognize that a lot of the tax is used to fund wasteful spending programs to fund a larger government..

How can I applaud Trump on GDP growth ?  Because I also understand the concept of AVERAGES...   Simple, let's look at the body of work thus far in 18 months !!    compared to O'bama's accomplishments (if you can call it that) over 8 years.

You want small government, what does that mean exactly? Are you going to go all "free market" on me and we can have a ten page laugh fest about that? Or are you going to go all "community/family take care of the poor and elderly" and we go over that boring erroneous concept?

Government is large due to abuses and neglect to the common citizen...so you can do this government get out of the way farce that Trump is doing yet the real plunder from these choices are borne by the environment and citizens. If you want small government then you have to throw down on corps because they cause government in the first place...abuses of free market cause governments to take action AFTER the damage is done, far long after the abuses are done and shady profits are taken. Free markets are not interested in taking care of the lesser, your side wants to take FROM the lesser and reward the elite...the chasm of income inequality and wealth inequality shows what happens when you take from and abuse those without power to reward those with power.

Last thing...you of course did not address the cost of this GDP print, how much should it cost to make a 4.1, how much for a 3.1 or a 5.1, how much in debt and future taxes/reduction in benefit for the lesser should it cost to print that 4.1 that you are applauding? A trillion, two trillion, ten trillion? How much in real cash, real debt, real benefit reduction should it cost so you can applaud a BK loser/cheater like Trump?
