Opening the borders like they were the gates of heaven to all
US doesn't have an open border policy. Biden administration kept title 42 restrictions for two years until pandemic emergency expired. Fact is responding to global surge of migration requires major reforms that no president can fix. For examples, more asylum officers and judges to process migrant claims. Even strict enforcement alone wouldn't be enough if resources continue to be the same.

Plus the fact that it was Trump and the republicans who nixed the bipartisan border bill, championed by their own REPUBLICAN Langford, that would have made a significant difference.

So I guess we are all to ignore the early stages of Biden's presidency where he went away from Trump's policies towards immigration
Are we all supposed to ignore the 100 day moratorium on deportations after taking office
Are we all supposed to ignore that he promised to protect sanctuary cities from federal law enforcement
Are we to ignore that Biden indicated that the US could afford to take in another 2 million immigrants because we are a nation of 330 million
Are we to ignore, and you poll seekers will love this, that Biden's approval rating of how he has handled the immigrant border crisis is at an 30% approval rating
Say all you want, but these are facts that were presented early on in his presidency and nothing has changed 4 years later...his indication that the US could take in 2 million more immigrants is what sparked the added migration that we see now...he was willing to let 2 million people into the country, whether legally or illegally that is still up to interpretation, but this alone caused people to flock to the border in droves unlike ever seen before....these immigrants did so because they had a chance to be 1 in 2 million to get in if they showed up first....and we have seen what it caused on the stress at the border and busing immigrants to cities and so on...
So be truthful about what is being observed instead of what Trump did or didn't do...the current administration didn't help the cause and why this was such a priority at the beginning of his presidency is beyond me...yes, there was a problem at the border when Trump was in office, but measures were trying to be put in place because it is a work in progress, but when our president comes out and essentially invites 2 million immigrants to come to the US this is what you get...mind you the article states that we are now at 3 million so what happened to 2 million????
Biden needs to be held accountable for what he said and did, period...his words and actions caused the additional influx of immigrants...and don't retort with what about Trump this and what about Trump that because that is a lame retort...this post is in contradiction to what third said specifically about the border...these are facts that this administration has to face from the public voters...

@Zeus4par
Yeppers! The republicans *CLEARLY* own the problem now since THEY are the ones that blew up the chance to make major improvements with that bipartisan supported border bill - which even the border guard union supported.
The Dems tried....the republicans FAILED.
This is archived in history now and will not be forgotten.

100 days moratonium didn't apply to criminals or people who pose a risk to national security. Cato institute reveals that Biden administration deported migrants at a rate 3.5 times higher per month than Trump administration.
Sanctuary is a myth. There is no protection against deportation in sanctuary cities. Courts have ruled that sanctuary cities are legal. Local police aren't obligated to help federal agents because of constitutional separation of responsibilities.
Biden has followed similar immigration policies as previous presidents. Presidents can only enforce laws that congress allows. Since 1990s, there has been no significant changes to immigration laws from congress. Homeland security department has no control over how many migrants show up at border from global displacement crisis. Besides, immigrant population is smaller now as a percentage of US total population than in past decades.

Of course there WOULD HAVE BEEN this year - as the Dems caved to the majority of GOP demands for a border bill negotiayrf by republican James Lankford, in a majority accepted BIPARTISAN bill......but because that improvement to the border crisis would look good on Biden's resume, donald "adolf" trump, the racist-fascist-fraud, told his lackeys to nix the popularly supported bill. So the republicans did as der Fuhrer instructed them to do....
THIS IS AN ARCHIVED FACT!

Data for progress poll reveals voters see Trump as a greater threat to democracy. According to letter to Los Angeles times, Trump refusal to accept fair election results show that he rejects US system of democracy established by constitution. In other words, Trump wants to destroy democracy and support the overthrow of government if he loses again.

We don't want a fake democracy - we want our Republic back!!!!
Election deniers claim US is a republic and not a democracy. Actually, US is both a republic and a democracy. China, Russia and North Korea are republics. Key difference is US constitution was written to foster a complex form of majority rule. Not to enable minority rule. American citizens elect government officials to represent them. Republicans are trying to justify holding power with a minority of voters. They want authoritarian rule.

@thirdperson
Well, the MAGA wing of the formerly respectable republican party certainly do - at least if it's going to be in THEIR favor.
