Just saw your question....
Damages to undersea pipelines are rare & to have 3 happen on the same day, at the same time, at the same time another gas delivery route to Europe was opened??? I don't think this was a coincidence & who knows the motivations of a madman? Europe is already concerned about energy shortages this winter, so why not do everything possible to increase those fears & the price of alternative energy? Attacking critical infrastructure is just another card in Putin's deck of cards & proving something he can do of this nature is very important to him wouldn't you think? Even though he underestimated the will of Ukraine, Putin wants to exhibit that he still has power. He wants to thumb is nose at NATO as well.
Trying to figure out Putin is a losing battle. I mean what motivated Putin to send his troops into the Ukraine with rusty rifles? Who knows?

100% agree that those damages were highly unlikely to happen under any natural set of circumstances. My initial knee jerk reaction was just that, "Russia did it".
But why would they physically damage / sabotage their OWN pipeline that enables them to collect all of the oil money.... Russia isn't exactly flush with cash these days ya know. All Putin needed to do was say, "F you guys, freeze your azzes off trying to get energy from someone else" and turn off the knob. Boom, mission accomplished. I agree with you, he does want to show that power....which is even a bigger reason why he could've just hit the OFF button.
Lot's of rumor & innuendo going on right now obviously.....I won't go into detail as nothing on either side of the conspiracy aisle can be confirmed.
This though is confirmed....
-Poland's former Defense and Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, who tweeted a photo of one of the gas leaks and wrote: "Thank you, USA."
And this straight from CNBC website...
“If Russia invades -- that means tanks or troops crossing the border of Ukraine, again, then there will be no longer a Nord Stream 2,” Biden said at a joint press conference with Scholz. “We will bring an end to it.”
“But how will you do that exactly, since the project and control of the project is within Germany’s control?” asked Andrea Shalal of Reuters, who had posed the original question to Biden about Nord Stream.
“We will, I promise you, we’ll be able to do it,” Biden replied.
“We have intensively prepared everything to be ready with the necessary sanctions if there is a military aggression against Ukraine,” he said, without mentioning Nord Stream. “It is part of the process that we do not spell out everything in public, because Russia should understand that there might be even more to come.”
“Will you commit today to turning off and pulling the plug on Nord Stream 2?” asked Shalal.
But Scholz would not. “As I already said, we are acting together. We are absolutely united and we will not be taking different steps,” he replied, ignoring Shalal’s question.
Ask yourself this simple question, "who has more to gain by cutting off Russia's main supply of cash" Russia or the US ??
Sometimes the easiest answer is the one most obvious.

correct, not at that moment, the West has the goal to remove Europe from Russian energy. Putin goal to cripple west energy. Prior to the start of the war though NS1 was 35% of all gas supplied to Europe. Russia has already shut down production to minimums prior to damage. Would it be in Russia's best interest to damage the pipelines, hindering future use, instead of just doing what they had already done before?? (just shut it off). Or would it be in the West's best interest to prevent NS1 to become operational, like they did with not authorizing NS2 to open upon completion?
per BBC
In July, Russia shut it down for 10 days, citing the need for maintenance. When it reopened, the flow was halved to 20m cubic metres a day.
In late August, it shut down Nord Stream 1 entirely, blaming problems with equipment.
The pipeline has not been open since then.

Dozens of House Republicans voted against a Ukraine aid bill in May. And last month, all but 10 House Republicans voted against a government funding package that included billions of dollars earmarked for Ukraine.*

Yes, Ukrainians are and should be very concerned if Republicans retake one or both house(s) in November.

IMO, anyone with half a brain knows Putin did not blow up his own pipeline the same day another pipeline goes into operation.
Two ways this happened; Poland did it with United States help and equipment.
United States did it at Poland's request.

Poland strongly opposes the development of Nord Stream 2, which will give Gazprom a subsea alternative route for supplying natural gas to Western European customers. At present, that gas has to pass through overland pipeline networks in Poland and Ukraine, bringing in valuable transit fees and providing both nations - which do not always have cordial relations with Russia - a measure of energy security.
BLOOMBURG interviews Jeffrey Sachs, Professor, Columbia University;
Sachs: The destruction of the Nord Stream pipeline, which I would bet was a US action, perhaps US and Poland …
BLOOMBERG HOST: Jeff, we’ve got to stop there. That’s quite a statement as well. Why do you feel —
Sachs: Absolutely.
BLOOMBERG HOST: That that was a US action? What evidence do you have of that?
Sachs: Well, first of all, there’s direct radar evidence that US helicopters, military helicopters that are typically based in Gdansk, were circling over this area. We also had threats from the United States earlier this year that, one way or another, we will end Nord Stream. You’re not allowed to say these things in the West, but the fact of the matter is, all over the world, when I talk to people, they think the US did it, and by the way, even reporters and our papers that are involved tell me privately, “Well, of course.” Well, it doesn’t show up in our media.
Incidentally, this interview was abruptly stopped, with the anchor getting instruction from the control room, “Stop him. Stop him.” What evidence do you have? Well, there’s radar evidence, says the interviewer. “What? Be quiet. Shut up.
That was one eye opening interview!!

I don't follow Jeffery Sachs. In the interview Posted above I cannot agree more.
We are escalating provocation. We are as close to worldwide upheaval as ever, still we provocate.
There are no intentions on finding peace in Ukraine, total destruction of Russian leader regardless of consequences.
THE NEWS IN THE WEST IS NOT ALLOWED TO SPEAK TRUTH WHEN IT COUNTERS THE ADMIN'S GOALS.

I quoted this from a news article from Eurasian times.
Have to say "NOT entirely true", the interview was not "abruptly stopped" rather the topic ended and was forced to move to another. After that next topic also became " journalists in the west not allowed to say" the interview ran out of time.
It was very obvious Bloomburg hosts were bothered by Sachs truthfulness.

Not just Ukraine. Without ongoing US assistance Ukraine will fall, much like Poland did in 1939, under similar fascist aggression. Then there will be an escalated war in Europe becoming WW3.
The assistance must continue to prevent WW3

Republicans are nationalist now. Unless something is specifically in their own interests they won't vote for anything that helps others. They've proven that repeatedly since 2009

Great analogy, without U.S. and allies' assistance, Poland fell in 1939 to the Nazi Germany. It emboldened the Nazi to invade most of the Eastern European countries since then, and that included the Soviet Union. Putin's aggression against Ukraine resembles Hitler's in the late 1930's and early 40's. Nowadays, Poles are one of the sturdiest people in supporting Ukrainians in this war.
Ukraine surely has it's deep anxiety and concern if the aides from US being slashed if Republicans retake one or both chamber(s) of Congress.

Hitler rose to power because the WW1 Treaty of Versailles crushed the German economy. HEAVY SANCTIONS on Germany led the people to chose a radical leader. First thing Hitler did was use his power to eliminate opposition parties, sorta like Zelensky did long before Putin's invasion. Hitler then gained control of what the media said So did Zelensky. And so it is in Western media.
Biden, like Hitler, created a huge Build Back Better Plan. Hitler built the Autobans, huge government projects. But unlike Hitler, Biden doesn't have the brain to make us stronger, thank goodness.
Boot licking, goose stepping Nazis were once ordinary people but now praised Hitler at every turn, ignored the obvious warning signs. Drowned out those with opposing views. Labeled them as the dangerous.
It's happening again people, and let me remind you Nazi's were white in the 1940's, they come in all colors now.

And I do not blame the Poles one bit for hating/distrusting Russia. Russia has always been a land of corruption as is Ukraine, and sadly we are too.
Hitler signed an agreement with Stalin to split Poland. Then of course Hitler wanted it all and invaded Russia too. When Russia pushed the Nazi's back they told the Polish Underground we will tell you are day of the invasion, you rise up first, soften the Germans and we'll move in and liberate your country. We got your back! Finally the day came, Russia said OK, go! The Polish Underground rose up attacking the Germans but Stalin withheld his troops. His real plan was let the Germans slaughter the underground, which they did, and then Russia won't have to deal with them when Russia takes over Poland. Damn dirty plan!
So no love for Russia here. And no love for Ukraine either. They're just as corrupt, dirty, terrorists as we have seen, Nazi's accepted, shutdown TV stations, jail opposition party leaders.
