My family values are taught in my home, based on my beliefs and opinions, I do not look to politicians on ANY level to solidify my views on family values.
The reason I do not is the same reason why politics will always be polluted...private interests and money control politics, so how can any values outside of selfish greed determine anything that comes out of our political system?
Outside some vanilla basic concepts like freedom of religion I do not think politics and religion belong together and it serves no purpose even mixing the two.
