Just a reminder Gladiators the 1st Round will last 2 weeks. We have 18 confirmed Gladiators. 17 will compete in the 1st Round. As per Battle Forum Tradition the Champ gets a 1st Round Bye. Only 7 of you will make it to the Quarterfinals. Put on your Battle Gear and let's do this!

Atlanta takes the early lead as it appears he's the only Gladiator to take advantage of the early line and took the Patriots when the line was 3.5 in favor of New England. Other Gladiators like Degosfinest, Irisheyez, Smoothd, and Unstoppable fell for the okey doke and took the early line for Pittsburgh but when Brady was cleared to play these Gladiators got caught short. 

Some Gladiators were lucky enough to get a push and some skip the prop entirely. It's only the 1st day though and we have a long way to go before this is decided.

ATLANTA LEADS THE WAY!

Atlanta continued his hot ways in recent capping by taking a commanding lead in the Battle Forum. Atlanta went an incredible 9-1 to pace the lead. Surprisingly his only loss came in the Indianapolis game as Buffalo pulled the upset. 

Thedeakon and Smoothd are tied for 2nd both with 460 points. Thedeakon is 9-4-1 and Smoothd 9-4. Smoothd picked St. Louis for his upset pick to shock Seattle.

Hashbrowns is running a solid 4th with a 70% win pct. He has 370 points. 

Beware of Agent Zero. He has the highest win pct at 80%  and has 290 points. His only loss coming from Houston. Agent Zero is taking the conservative approach in this 1st  Round. His record is 4-1

WBellhaven, DS0589, and Chango1nly round out the leaders. They're all tied with 250 points.

Bringing up the rear is Masterone who is -800 and has 3-10-1. Ouch! Good thing we have one more week to go or Masterone would be done. 

It's becoming a Battle Forum tradition now.  We always have one Gladiator that doesn't pick for whatever reason. This time it's SBL Capital. I believe he's a repeat offender but hey we appreciate the donations. Reminder emails were sent out to those who didn't make their picks. 

The spots for the Quarterfinal round are still very much up for grabs and nobody is safe at this point. Monday's games will close out Week 1 and then next week will be the final Week for this Round. 

All Gladiators will need to post their tiebreaker totals starting on Tuesday for the Monday Night between the Jets and the Colts. That will be used to determine seeds for the Quarterfinal Round. If you don't post your number than you will automatically lose if their is a tie and your opponent has posted his number. Please post your numbers in this thread for easy tracking.

The Deadline to post your Totals for the Jet-Colts game will be Monday Sept 21 at 8pm Eastern. We will use the Covers stamp as the official time. So if your post is after that time it will not be allowed so please get your tiebreakers in on time.

Contingency Plan: If for some reason 2 Gladiators are still tied after tiebreakers, Than those Gladiators will have a 1 week Playoff to determine who gets the spot. But that is only if its for the 7th spot. If 2 or more Gladiators are tied for a seed other than the 7th spot after tiebreakers, the seeds will be determined by their Battle Forum ranking.

BATTLE FORUM FAVORITES LURKING!

The Battle Forum favorites aren't that far off the pace and will become very dangerous as we head to Week 2. Former Champ Mondo is within striking distance 180 points. So is always dangerous Unstoppable Force at 170 points. Degosfinest is right there at 140 points. So we're getting set for a fantastic finish next week because all of the Battle Forum heavy hitters are more than capable of blowing the competition out next week. 

The pressure will really be on those lower  seeds to keep it moving so they wont be shut out of the Quarters. Do you play it safe and only a pick a few games or go All-in. That's why they play the games gentlemen. We will find out how it's going to shake out in the coming days right here in the Battle Forum!

Smooth, after watching Russell Crowe at his finest, I would have thought you'd be looking over your shoulder for those Bengal Tigers. That left a mark!

The worst part about that Viking loss was being here in San Francisco watching my team look like crap. But I had a ball. Got to see 2 games this weekend. Raiders at home always an experience and the Vikings at Levi Stadium. Nice stadium but Oakland has the better atmosphere. 

Get this I ran into old friend at the Vikings-Niners game that I hadn't seen in 15 years or talked to in about 12. What are the odds of that in a crowd over 70,000. He told me heard my voice and said "That can only be Derrick Thompson and it's a Viking game yep that's Derrick" He comes up to me and says "Derrick" I turned and said "Edwin Lugo!" Now here's another strange part. The night before me and another friend I was having a beer with was just talking about him. Is this a small world or what? Unreal. That alone was worth trip back to the Bay Area. I'm flying back to Portland in 2 hours.

NOW COMES THE HARD PART!

It's not going to get any easier in the Battle Forum now that Week 1 is in books. Strategy becomes a huge part of the Battle. Do you play it safe or go All-In to try to secure a spot in the Quarters. 

It's going to be a mad scramble for these last spots. Smoothd went 0-2 Monday Night to fall in a 3 way tie for that last spot with WBellhaven and Ds0589. As a matter of fact it's so close that we have 6 Gladiators within 50 points of each other between 3rd and 7th place. Hashbrowns and Degosfinest aren't far behind with 150 and 130 points respectively. 

Battle Forum favorites Unstoppable Force and Crush continue to struggle and need to get hot quickly to have any chance on making it to the Quarters. Irisheyez and Masterone bring up the rear and it will take an act of Congress for them to survive this 1st Round. SBL Capital is still a no show and we have sent a search party out to look for him. 

Atlanta holds a comfortable lead in his bid to get his revenge on the Champ Upset City. Agent Zero has been playing the conservative angle with only 5 picks but will that strategy work in Week 2? We will see. Thedeakon is another strong Gladiator making a strong bid for the Quarterfinals. We're looking forward to some hot action for Week 2.

GLADIATORS!  

Don't forget to post your tiebreaker predictions on this thread. The tiebreaker will be for Monday Night's Jets-Colts game. Just post the Total points that you think will be scored for that game. 

In case of a tie the winner will be determined by the Gladiator that is closest to the Final score. If there is still a tie than the Gladiators involved will all have a one week Playoff. Other matches will have a bye if that's the case. If you don't post your prediction and your opponents do then you will lose the tiebreaker by default so make sure you get those tiebreakers in. Thanks.

Smooth, it is a small world at times. Glad you got to see your old friend. I'll be in the Fla panhandle this weekend. Have to make all my picks before I leave on Thursday morning. Had my daughter in town this last weekend from Austin, TX. All in all a very lucky weekend.
