In order for the Eagles to win Sunday against HOTLANTA M. Vick and company will have to play there best game of the season and not give the ball to Matty Ice in the ending of the 4th qtr!!!

Isn't Reid undefeated after a bye week? For a team and a QB that relies on scripted plays on offense it makes sense to me. ATL has looked vulnerable in a couple games already. I like the trend. Gotta ride with the Eagles.

I cannot envision Vick as the QB in week 9 if he loses another game because of HIS turnovers.Andy Reid has got to be getting heat from Laurie and get it something done or Reid is just too smug to think he would lose his job.
I'll likely stay off this game unless I feel the need to twist my own arm in which case...I'd expect the Eagles to fend off getting eaten by the Falcons...but IMO,teasing this game either way can make both sides winners.

you definitely have been making good picks lately. i have followed you in some of these nfl threads.. i am from philly and a proud eagles fan. i know they have been ugly, sloppy, underachieving team--- that being said, not many people out there can predict the outcome of this game but does riding the andy reid 12-0 off the bye week train ever hurt?
also, i have some strong early leans for this weekend. chargers and broncos coming off the bye week.. chargers SU win at cleveland. denver -5 (buy 1 pt) at home against that saints secondary.. and probably over 54.5.
and judging by the way that offense has been flowing with landry jones and the sooners, i gotta say that oklahoma wins by 9 or more. golson is starting, he simply cannot keep up with that sooner offense. i just dont see the irish having any chance to put up a fight in that type of environment.. oklahoma firing on all cylinders right now. No luck here for the Irish because its an absolutely awful time to play at oklahoma. blowout!

I unfortunately am a die-hard eagles fan. Probably one of the most frustrating teams to watch and like in pro sports. I love the point that TARYNFOR12 makes about the eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie giving Reid a lot of heat, along with Vick. Now that both Reid and Vick have their backs against the wall, I really do believe the eagles will finally play their first game of the year clicking on all cylinders. And believe me, when Philly does that, NOBODY can touch em..Ok I'm sorry, maybe 2 or 3 teams could. Anyway, as u all know, Andy is a perfect 13-0 comming off the bye and 10-3 ATS. This a MUST Win game for the eagles in my mind. I've followed this asshole team for too long for me to be wrong on this. I know whats commin Sunday.. Im tellin ya..Eagles WILL WIN THIS GAME...and send a powerful message to the rest of the NFL. Eagles 31- Falcons 20

Andy Reid coming off a bye week Add to it that the noose tightens with every additional loss, Reid will have his team ready and the Falcons look ready to give one away. Prime play on the (Green) Birds

Nah you aint racist. Its just factual, a run first qb has not gotten it done in the nfl and has not produced any championships. That being said, the bye week voodoo and I think Vicks competitive spirit to show up his former team gets it done. PHILLY and OV for the large!!!!

i like the eagles ground game against that suspect falcons defense who cant stop the run. falcons have barely come away with the win in their last few games and judging RG3's performance against the falcons i can imagine andy reid will keep the ball on the ground and work the play action to free desean jackson up in the 2nd half....

I hate to do this, but I pretty much agree with everyone that Philly is the play. That makes me really skeptical that all of us like Philly to beat an undefeated Atlanta squad.
But when you really look Atlanta's last 3 games, the Falcons could easily be 3-3 heading into this matchup.
They won a tough game at Washington (24-17) on a Michael Turner touchdown with a few minutes left. In that game. RG3 also left in the 2nd half with a concussion...Who knows what happens if RG3 plays the whole game?
The Falcons dodged a bullet at home against Carolina, needing a last minute drive (literally 59 seconds left in the game) from Matty Ice to kick the game winning field goal. Its also important to note that in that game Carolina rushed for 200 yards with Cam Newton responsible for 86 of those yards. I am sure Andy Reid will look at that footage and see how Michael Vick could exploit this front 7.
And last but not least, Atlanta fell into a bit of a trap game and nearly lost to Oakland before their bye week, allowing Carson Palmer to throw for 353 yards. Although Atlanta probably had a gameplan to stack the box to contain McFadden, so Palmer was able to exploit this secondary.
The Eagles, on the other hand, haven't been so lucky & have made some crucial turnovers that have pretty much cost them their last two games.
Against Detroit, the Eagles were up 23-13 with 5 minutes left in the game, and a key interception by Vick allowed Detroit to get back into the game. They ended up losing 26-23.
And of course, how could we forget that horrible fumble by Vick going into the Steelers endzone in the first quarter of that game. They were about to take an early 7-0 lead on the Steelers, but that turnover changed the whole complexity of the game and allowed the Steeler faithful to take over.
The Eagles should be well positioned to right their ship this week. Given Andy Reid is 13-0 after the bye week (he has only been a head coach for 13 years), I have no reason to believe the Eagles will play a sloppy game this Sunday. I think they take care of the ball and find a way to win a close one.
Obviously, I am a bit concerned with the replacing of their defensive coordinator, but keep in mind that has an advantage as well. The Falcons are not going to be quite sure what type of looks the Eagles will be giving them in certain formations, and will have to make adjustments on the fly.
The Falcons have been on the lucky end on some very close games, while the Eagles have had the opposite luck. Look for things to change this Sunday.
Eagles 24
Falcons 16
good luck

Dear Everyone: Do Not make a pick on this game yet!!!
(Yes, I already made a mistake by selecting the Falcons on here, but my picks on here are my first impressions when the lines come out, not who I am really putting money on.)
So why not make a pick until Friday?
Because, these two teams might be playing in a friggin' Tropical Storm!
It's looking more like Hurricane Sandy is going to track right up the coast much like a Nor'Easter does. I'd wait until Friday to see how the weather forecast looks to make my pick on this game.
If they play in rain, I'd pick the Eagles. If its just cloudy, I'd go with the Falcons.
I just wanted to make everyone aware that weather might Greatly affect this game.
Good Luck To All!!!

Actually, I'm shocked that it's not the Falcons whom are giving the points! As stated above, if the Eagles don't play one of their best games, I could see where this gets ugly fast, and Atlanta wins by double digits. The Eagles have far too many TO's and their "D" shows signs of wearing down. Coming off the bye helps, and Philly has had the "Dirty Birds" number for years. Just looking for the garden variety FG win & cover here.

This is a very naive statement. Philly is a very well run organization. They have been perenial contenders for over a decade in Andy Reid's tenure. They spend their money wisely and keep themselves from getting stuck long term with bad contracts. If a player is not going to live out the useful life of the contract they are demanding, Philly won't sign them (see Fan favorite brian dawkins). They didn't overpay desean, they traded McNabb for a second round pick after getting every useful ounce of football he had in him, they traded a mediocre QB in Kolb for a 2nd round pick and a pro bowl corner, and they even structured vick's contract in a way that they can get out of it next year with minimal financial reprecussions. Your only case is that they use mobile QBs who happen to be black and maybe you're black, but you're the one implying that they can't get it done. Philly gave elite talents a chance to reach their potential, it's just bad luck for the organization that they didn't continue doing what they did in their peak years. McNabb was amazing at times and Vick had an amazing year as well. Hard to predict their limitations without seeing them. They don't have your benefit of hindsight.

as for the game, you guys are running into a freight train here... I'm not looking the stats up again, but I believe andy reid is somewhere in the neighborhood of 11-1 SU and 10-2 ATS off a bye. Todd Bowles is an intelligent guy who played defense in the NFL and will be better suited to work the defense, while everyone will be playing their best with the accountability note being forced upon the team.
Atlanta is not as good as the 6-0 record indicates and is very likely to regress. 4 of those wins came against the tissue soft AFC West, then the Panthers and the skins (with RG3 having to leave late in the 3rd Q). only two good teams are the broncos, in a game where manning showed rust and threw 3 picks (adding 2 fumbles) and the skins, who are 3-4... and again were without their best player for a quarter. They are amongst the worst (if not the worst) in the combined facets of the run game, per Football Outsiders, only 5 teams are worse against the run and only 8 teams are worse at running and if you've seen michael turner lately, dude's done. I'm chalking up his games against the panthers and chargers as terrible flukes against a bad team and in a blowout, because he is just a slow plodder and philly will have no concern of him hurting them, which allows them to buckle down on the pass. Philly's overall defense comes in at 8 to atlanta's 11, and that's despite SEVERE underperforming of the D-line who had been playing way conservative while the d-backs did work. I believe that if there's one thing you can trust out of the bye in terms of defensive improvment, it's that the eagles will bring much more pressure, and the irony of matty ice's nickname is that he does not handle pressure well, not to mention, he's not nearly as good out of his home dome, and if matty ice isn't good, the falcons won't be able to do anything offensively.
The talent on this philly team is amongst the best in the league, and I realize that they need to prove that they can limit turnovers and overall f- ups, but we saw what they were capable in the last 4 games of last year where they outscored opponenets by 79. Last year off their bye they obliterated an upstart dallas team 34-7.
I see 3 potential results to this game...
1) the public is right, but not about how good the falcons are, but because philly can't get out of their own way and the tailspin begins now (I highly don't believe)
2) philly gets their crap straight and throttles the hawks (potential for a 34-17 ish... remember they did win 31-17 with kevin kolb starting the year atlanta went 13-3 and were MUCH more balanced on offense).
and even if philly isn't THAT sharp... 3) you only need the eagles by a friggin' field goal, even if they do turn it over a few times instead of walking away as they should.
I believe in something between 2-3, ala
PHI 28 ATL 20
by the way... these teams have met 10 times in the last 11 years. Philly is 8-2 SU, 7-3 ATS and only once has laid this small of a number... 2 years ago, with kevin kolb as the starter (vick out). I know that atlanta won last year, but that was in the dome and philly still had that game until late and it took a vick concussion and a likely concussed maclin drop late for the falcons to eek it out.
PHI -1 will be a heavy play and i may up the stakes and make it my largest play of the year to point...
for what it's worth, my record this year in NFL is 42-30-2, with all of my plays posted on twitter for back up.

I have to agree with Sammy on this one, surprise surprise.
Philly covers against Atlanta - here in Canada we have a -1.5 on Philly
Even thouh Atlanta has won the last game these two teams played against eachother, Philly has 2 of 3 against Atlanta.
I agree with the Andy Reid factor being something to weigh in on here being 13-0 ATS coming off of a bye week gives me a strong belief he prepares his guys well with the time off, which is what Philly needed. Both teams were looking shaky recently, especially Philly with that loss to Detroit(which I covered).
When you compare these teams straight up there is a definite lean on Philly's ability to balance the game in their favour.
Philly when playing on their game, play a very stingy defensive game giving up little points. Atlanta can not say the same for their defensive game, they have weaknesses on the fron 7 in stopping the run, which they'll be challenged with in this game against Atlanta. When they attempt to compensate for those weaknesses they will expose a weaker secondary and start giving up points through the air.

I hate to do this, but I pretty much agree with everyone that Philly is the play. That makes me really skeptical that all of us like Philly to beat an undefeated Atlanta squad.

Eagles 24
Falcons 16
good luck
55% of the public is currently on Atlanta so no worries that us 'sharps' are liking on philly.

Eagles 24
Falcons 16
good luck
55% of the public is currently on Atlanta so no worries that us 'sharps' are liking on philly.
