Ravens defense is designed to crush teams like the Dolphins. The Ravens have had much tougher games. 5 Unit Pick for me on this one.

Last time these team met Jason Fergusan went down in the first quarter with an injury, his backup was suspended for the game and Baltimore ran all over them. 
 
It was after this week 7 defeat that this team started to come into their own.  Their secondary is now actually playing and has maybe become their defenses strength.  Up until this game their secondary was abysmal. 
 
Baltimore embarresed them earlier this season so revenge is on their minds not to mention that they hate Camoron. 
 
This team is playing on an emotional high after last season debaclation. 
 

Dont know this dude, but it is extremely difficult to beat someone twice in the NFL. Just look at what happened in SD/COLTS game. Go with the home team for now. 2-0 thus far.

I agree that nothing is seldom easy and that picking the Ravens is not automatic winner, but I would contend that to compare the QB situation by merely going rookie versus verteran like the Zona and Falcon is a bit different.  Why?  The Ravens are more of a pounding, running offense and their QB will not be expected to win it in the air.  I am still leaning on the Ravens because not only do they have on of the best rated defenses in the league, they are also scoring points this year.  Will make my final decision later tomorrow.  One problem for me is that I want the Dolphins to win, but like the Bears/Houston game where I took Houston, I won't bet with my heart.

Up to 81% action on the ravens and no real movement in the line.  For anyone to dumb to understand what this means I will explain.  The guys in Vegas( guys much more inteligent than most gamblers) are saying go ahead take the ravens, we will happily take the Jets, your bets and your money. 

The Ravens seem like a gimmie, which typically ends your bookie saying gimmie your money.

Tough wins like the two games they played against Cinci and Cleveland. They let Cleveland score 27 on them and had to come from behind to win. Look at their schedule and then look at their losses. LOSSES :: Tenn, Pitts x2, Giants, and Indy...then take a look at those wins. Best win came at home against Philly and some might say Dallas but let's admit the Cowboys were highly overrated. As I stated in the Colts/Chargers thread, it's difficult for any NFL team to beat a team twice in the same year...especially on the road. With this information its apparent I am leaning towards the Dolphins + points.

nccrum, remember who they scored points on...Cinci x2, Cleveland x2, Houston, Oakland, Washington, Jacksonville, Dallas but the also gave up 24 in that game and they gave up 27 to Cleveland, so DEF has not been as consistent as Titans or Steelers.

Fpronk, yes - they had 20 against Pitts who is best rated in defense I think, 27 on Miami, 41 on Houston, 36 on Philly and 33 on Dallas and the ones you mentioned as well.  The point is when the Bears one the Super Bowl in 1985 they had the most pathetic offense of any team winning the Super Bowl.  How did they win - their defense?  I still may go with Miami, as home field is a blessing, Chad is playing well and Miami's defense is not all that bad, but as I head to bed tonight, it's still the Ravens for me.  I am also a bit concerned about the somewhat soft schedule that Miami has played.  The only victory against a playoff team was the first game of the year against SD.  All other victories were against non playoff teams regardless of whether they were home or on the road.

ncrum, they Fins schedule was no weaker then the Ravens schedule IMO. I would be interested in seeing SOS after the season. Anywhere to find that?

Baltimore's schedule in my mind was much tougher although they were not that successful.  They played 9 playoff teams and won just 2 of those...Miami and Philly.  Miami played only three and they one 1 against SD in their first game.

Thanks nc, however, I would like to see SOS at the end of the regular season. Remember, Cleveland was 10 - 6 last year and that helped the pre-season SOS for the Ravens.

I've been a big fan of the Dolphins all year. But this is the worst kind of team Miami can play. To beat the Ravens, you have to make big plays down field - or at least have that threat. And the Fins are not a big-play offense. Yes, they are very well-coached. They can run the ball fairly well and they have a smart QB who limits turnovers - and that is a big positive when facing the Ravens. But unless they get a huge contribution from receiver Ted Ginn, I don't see them being able to make enough plays.

I've seen a lot of posters worried about the effect a playoff atmosphere will have on Flacco. And they're right to be concerned. But Flacco's margin for error is much greater than Ryan's was for Atlanta. He has a better D, better running game and better special teams.

The Ravens are tied for the league lead in scoring margin (the Dolphins finished 16th). They have only lost twice since starting the year 2-3.

This pick boils down to the speed of the Baltimore defense. It is simply too much for the Dolphins. The Ravens will be able to attack the line of scrimmage without the fear of Pennington beating them deep. That's when the Ravens are at their best.

Maldini, I have watched some of the Dolphins games this year and just off the top of my head...Pennington and Ginn have hooked up late in the season for some big pass plays for scores. I agree the battle on the line of scrimmage is key and the Ravens certianly look a lot better on paper.

Like the fins here for the same reasons as I stated in the zona & sd games.

I see Flacco making mistakes here early which causes the ravens to fall behind and I don't see that offense being able to recover. Very close game, and I'll take the points. -romo-

I'll dig a bit and see if I can come up with that info.  Would be interesting to see.  I'm heading for some sleep, hope we end up on the same side and win some money tomorrow.  I have gone against you very seldom and never comfortable doing so.  Biggest mistake on bowl games this year was going against Sharp on the CT/Buffalo game.  He was pretty convinced and was right.

Trust in W8 on this one bro. The Eagles are a different bird going into Minny especially if Tavaris Jackson is starting at QB. Hell they barely got by the Giants with mostly backups playing in the second half of that game. Should be enough said there. Hence that dog will hunt! Only road team to cover this weekend. . .

Yeah, you're right. Ginn was a nice part of my fantasy team and I kept close tabs on him. But he's not a game changer ... yet.

When these two teams played earlier Baltimore destroyed Miami. I don't necessarily think that's going to happen again. But sometimes a team just matches up well with another and I think that's the case here. Miami is exactly the kind of team Baltimore cleans up on.
