I believe the Fins had best turnover ratio this year, also if you look back at the first time they played Balt in October they had 359 total yards,and Ravens came into that game off playing Pitt,Tenn,and Indy..a huge step down in class at that time.It was also revenge for Baltimore based on Fins only win last year was aginst them. Ravens are also just 1-5 against playoff teams this and Fins are 1-2,and of those 3, San Diego and Arizona both won yesterday. You saw what happened to the rookie QB and coach combination yesterday. My only negative on Miami is the weak schedule down the strecth,but they won them all. Take the Fins plus the points!

This game scares the hell out of me. I cant find an edge either way. Bal. did have a pick six in first game which sent it over. Bal. stover is hurting. Gonna tease miami and under. GL

First, I love my Bears so keep in mind the tone of my message.  That said, they won 4 games that year by scoring 20 or less points and if you watched the games, the defense scored as many points as the offense did by turnovers, field position, etc.  Yes they had some cool, great players on offense but the truth is the won games based on their defense.  The point is.... this is not the same situation as yesterday's rookie QB versus a veteran QB.  Ravens are not as dependent on thier QB as Atlanta was.

Tagsrock, wasn't that the coolest thing any Super Bowl champs have done?  The incredible thing was the filmed this the day after the Dolphins beat them, well before the playoffs even started and after taking their first loss of the season.  Talk about destiny!!!  Our Bears were the best that year.

With the well wishes being said, sincere as they are, I can't see Miami winning this game.......well I guess I could see it.......I just don't think they will.  Miami ranks in the middle of the NFL in both offense and defense.  They are 8-8 ATS and actually struggled mostly at home, going 2-6 ATS this year.  Meanwhile, Balt ranks #2 in defense and 4th in the league running the ball.  They own a 12-4 ATS record this year and have a better overall offense than most people and cappers credit them for.  They also have a 9-5-1 record on the OVER........not bad for a team that "relies on defense and running the football and keeping the scoring low to win."  I saw some talking head on tv say that last night and I wanted to get sick. 
 
This game was dominated by Balt earlier in the year in the same venue.  The game went over the total at 35.5 and made it to 40 total points.  I believe Miami plays much better in this game today and the total is pushed over again.  But I will be banging on Balt.........I believe they win by 6-13 points today.  GL to everyone and stop by my page and say hi and let me know what you think about the games today!!

getting 3+.5 is huge here. i'm definitely on the fins.

i know people believe flacco isn't as important to his offense as ryan is, but miami will make flacco win this game. i still do see the ravens being able to pull this out but not by more than 3. 20-17 ravens imo.

taking miami here but not as large as ari & sd yesterday

Whatever happens in this game  I'll be doing the exact opposite of the public....Last night Vegas made all their money back and then some by SD winning outright and the under coming in.
 
It's playoff time.....where Vegas makes up for losing so much during the regular season. The teams/players really don't decide the outcome. Refs...And Vegas.

Two points here:

1. I need to correct myself.  The Ravens played 7 regular season against playoff teams not 9.  They  won 2 of them.  (they played 2 other playoff teams in pre-season but we can't count them.)  Miami played 3 playoff teams and won just 1.    Yeah Miami is 9-1 in their last 10 games but none were against playoff teams.

 

2.  Phancard and other threaders...I am seeing a lot of people on both the Ravens and Eagles threads warning about taking road favorites based on yesterday's play and that home teams are the way to go.  Now don't get me wrong...I strongly believe in taking the home team EVERY chance I can.  But to say take the home teams based on yesterday is close to moronic. 

Last year in round one:

2 home teams won

2 road teams lost 

I believe the two road team winners were even DOGS, not favorites. 

If we could pick winners by just merely taking the home teams we wouldn't need to read all the advice and opinions on these threads.  Just bet the home teams and win.  Well, its not the easy either.

I am still leaning on the Ravens and Eagles but the one main thing that keeps me from pulling the trigger is that they are playing on the road.  Man, I hate watching a game when I have the road team and listening to that crowd root against me.

Irisheyez, I am with you on this game.  I posted my rationale in earlier thread ... let's bring this one home while others think they see a "trend" due to yesterday's home winners, we will surprise them when they find out home teams don't necessarily HAVE to go 4-0 and seldom do in the playoffs.  Like I said before last year it was 2-2 and the two winners were road DOGS not even road favorites.

Man, did you see different games than I did?  SD got some very tough calls against them last night until the overtime where they did get some nice calls their way, although the calls were correct except perhaps the holding call.  That may have been correct but many refs in my opinion would have let that call go.  Nevertheless, SD clearly outplayed Indy last night and if they had not turned the ball over twice in the endzone (one on a questionalble call that went Indy's way) this game would have not been close.

Miami and the over if it does not go over 38. Unit G made a good point. Rookies in the playoffs are a liability. Also, coaching is a factor   and I think Dolphins have the edge. Criison Steele is right on about SD and Vegas making money. I live in Vegas and the books are happy as clams that Indy lost. This line should be a pick or .5 to 1 for the Ravens. I see Miami playing run, trick plays and if they score first they win. Of course DyHardBillsFan will take Baltimore. Most Bills fans would. Go Shula

Interesting info on past 4 years for the first round of playoff results on who wins...home teams versus road teams.  Wish I could say this was against the spread results, but these were just straight up.  The point is, road teams can and do win playoff teams:
