This game is going to be very interesting. At first look I want to take Washington to cover this spread against a Carolina Panthers team that has been strugling to close out games.
But then I have to take into consideration a few things here,
1) Against Chicago and Atlanta to of the stronger teams in the NFL right now, Carolina has managed to take this game down to the wire losing by 3 or less points.
2) Although RGIII is a major factor to consider in every game, Carolina has had Washingtons number in the last three contests.
3) Washington does not play well this year as a favourite ATS.
I'm taking this game with a final score of
CAR 31 - 29 WASH

No rain in sight, no wind in sight, Sunday will be clear and in the low 60's - why pick a side? Just sit back and watch these high flying QB's cover the 47 by halftime.............

Cam crying over spilled milk again. In the meantime, RGIII is actually playing decent football. Asking the Skins to cover a measely 3.5 at FedEx Field against a miserable team, is really no great deal. Ron Rivera needs to right a sinking ship, because Newton is starting to loose the respect of his teamates.

Carolina +3.5, players playing for respect, been in games just havent closed em out. No fluke in Chicago game, Bears o-line sucks and Car def took advantage of that, Car should've won in ATL, one big play and Car loses, Can see Rivera and crew taking chances and attaching corners on d-line to contain RG111 and let LB attach and contain middle. Cam needs to be more accurate and Panthers win this game. If they lose Rivera prob gone before season ends.

I like the Skins big here. Coming off a "heartless" performance @ the Steelers last week, I feel like they are in a good rebound spot. Trent Williams and Mike Shanny labeled this game a "must win".

Last week I was all about Carolina getting 8 points against a Chicago team that had been overachieving. I was right in that Chicago would turn the ball over a few times, and come out a little unmotivated for a 1-5 Carolina team. I was also right in that Carolina's defense would play a little better than they have in some of their prior games.
Where I was wrong, was predicting that Chicago's never-ending run of pick 6's would end. Carolina was pretty much handed this game, and they did not capitalize on the Chicago turnovers. Then, Cam Newton did the unthinkable and threw an unforgivable pic 6 that pretty much cost his team the game. A game which they were winning for the majority of the contest.
Carolina is a team heading in the wrong direction. They lack leadership and Cam Newton looked awful in that game. He had some throws in the redzone that were no where near their targets.
One of my favorite rules in handicapping is that things generally don't get any easier on the road.
The Redskins, on the other hand, just ended a really difficult 2 game road trip, playing both the Giants and the Steelers. Two teams that are, in my opinion, championship-caliber. They nearly beat the Giants and they just didn't have the horses to keep up with a Pittsburgh team that needed to win in order to keep pace with the idle Ravens. I look for the Redskins to take out some of their frustration on the sinking ship known as the Carolina Panthers.
I think the skins get the job done at home and win comfortably.
good luck.

teams going into their bye week have been awful this year. Panthers looked like they got it together last week, the bears are just in the class of the elite. Skins however, are one of the worst defenses in the league, especially vs. the pass. After cam put up 300 vs. the bears, I think he and smith put up 150 by themselves. panthers are a much better than you think team, while the skins offense has people drinking the kool aid despite a piss poor defense.
Booked this one early.

Everyone's talking about Carolina heading in the wrong direction as if Washington totally is....both teams are mediocre. RGIII's playing better than Cam obviously, but the Panthers D can actually hang while Washington's can't.
That says to me that it will be a very close game w/ Carolina maybe even winning.
Carolina +3.5, Not sure about the O/U because I'm sure everyone will be pounding the Over

Great commentary wangichu, but I respectfully disagree with you. In fact, you just made me like the skins a little more.
First, the Panthers did NOT look like "they got it together" last week. I loved them getting 8 because they had the extra week of preparation and I thought they were extremely desperate and would win to save Coach Rivera's job. Coach Rivera has now probably lost his job, but time will tell. I also really liked Carolina because I thought the Bears on the other hand, would overlook the matchup and come out flat given the Panthers were 1-5 at the time.
Second, the Bears practically handed them this game, turning the ball over 3 times (a pick and 2 fumbles). Good teams capitalize on turnovers. The Panthers went 1-4 in the red zone!! The Panthers young quarterback has lost all of his confidence and its being reflected in play. He made some throws last week that were nowhere near their intended receivers. Cam has regressed so much that I think the only way to solve this problem is to change the coaching staff.
Third, the way the Panthers lost that game was extremely deflating. I actually think that negative momentum will carry over into this week. Sort of the same way the Jets lost a close one at New England as a big dog, and then got absolutely rocked at home by Miami last week.
And my final point is I didn't realize the Skins were going into the bye week. That makes me even more confident that they will fear the wrath of Mike Shanahan if they lose 3 straight going into the bye. I love taking teams with respected/disciplinarian coaches going into the bye week and after the bye week. Prime examples of those types of coaches include Schiano, Bellichik, and Jim Harbaugh. The Patriots just destroyed the Rams going into their bye & 49ers played freaking awesome against Zona going into their bye. I think the Shanahans are a solid, no-nonsense coaching staff and definitely fall into that category.
Look for Shanahan to avenge last years loss to the Panthers with his new and revamped offense led RGIII and Alfred Morris. The leagues number 2 rush offense versus the 20th rush defense in the league....And they're only laying 3?? Take it now before the line moves.

Another interesting injury note..Starting Center Kalil went down with a season ending injury in the Chicago game..so they moved Hangather from Right G to center..and he now is questionable with a knee injury..
Bad enough loosing one center , and now your backup is injured..and playing a game away in a place like Wsahington..where its noisy enough..not a good combo for a struggling QB..
whats the over /under on False starts..I say 5

Well, I was wrong last week when I took the Redskins over the Steelers... Thankfully they still covered on my Super Teaser to make me some money. After watching the Redskins play the Giants (3 weeks ago) I had over-valued the redskins and the quality of team that they are.
I also know this Steelers team well and I have seen several of their games this year. They are a team in decline. Yes, Big Ben is On Fire right now... but he was also playing the Redskins last week who have been decimated on the defensive side of the ball this year.
Cam Newton is going to play his best game of the season in this game. Newton views this game as the platform for him to display his talents against the Redskins and RG3. Newton want to prove he is the better QB, and I think he is. Also, the Panthers can play defense; they have the 9th best Defense in the NFL. The Redskins have the 30th ranked defense.
Also, the Panthers are better than their 1-6 record and the Redskins are hurting right now. Next week is the Redskins bye week and I have a feeling a lot of the players will be looking forward to that bye considering it doesn't look like the Redskins are going to make the playoffs this year.
Also 63% of the money is on the Redskins right now (Friday night)... This is a perfect setup for a Panthers win.
This game is definitely going to be Over 47.
And I'm taking the Panthers to easily cover the +3.5... They are going to win this one Outright.
Cam Newton has his best game of the season and the Panthers rally behind to beat the Redskins. My prediction: Car 35 Was 27.
