Things have been getting ugly in Houston. After winning their first two games of the year, they have now been in a downward spiral dropping their last 4 in embarrassing fashion. Last week in particular, they were a disaster. Turning the ball over 4 times (twice through the air and twice with fumbles. Those turnovers also resulted in 2 defensive scores. If you take away the sloppy plays, they did finally get the ground game going with Arian Foster rushing for over 140 yards on 20 carries. I guess that's the one positive you can take from that ugly game.
Now with TJ Yates taking all the first team reps in practice this week, I expect a better gameplan, and a more solid outing out of this underachieving Texans team, especially with the Colts losing on Monday night and facing Denver this week. Not to mention the 49ers will be playing the Titans, so if you think about it, a win here would put the Texans only a game out of first assuming both the Colts and Titans lose.
The angle I like most about this game is that the Texans also happen to be going into the bye next week, and will desperately try to right their sinking ship. Also keep in mind, the Chiefs have upcoming games against the Browns and Bills. Shall we expect the Chiefs to go 9-0 into their week 10 bye.....hmmmm?
The Chiefs look like they are due for a cooler as their offense was less than inspiring against the Raiders last week. Alex Smith went 14 for 31 with a 128 yards and no touchdowns. That type of effort at home against the Oakland Raiders is a bit disheartening if you ask me.
I like the Texans to give one heck of an effort this Sunday, while the Chiefs look a little long in the tooth at 6-0. This is the time to take the Texans....not when they're laying 10 at home.
I am probably going to get a lot of haters for this prediction, but here's my final.

Before reading this I was going to take the Chiefs in my suicide pool.
I think with the homecrowd breaking a sound record, the defense leading the league in sacks, and a QB that plays mistake free football...... That the cheifs cover by allowing Houston to implode....
I don't see TJ Yates on the road covering and I highly doubt Texans run game has the same success it did last week vs. The rams..... Not vs. This line
dome team outdoors..... Back-up QB and back-up TE

Yates carried Houston's pick 6 tradition out beautifully and now they're mentally psychng themselves out, I truly don't seeing KC getting their first L @ home vs H-Town......C'mon man!!!!!!!
Coach Reid + Jamal Charles + Awesome D + Steve Smith = W&C!!!!

Case Keenum will be starting for Houston on Sunday - not T.J. Yates or Matt Schaub. Not that Keenum is NFL ready but he probably gives the Texans a better chance to win because he is much more mobile and KC will not know what to prepare for with the new offense. As well he has a better arm than Schaub who has killed the Texans with his sorry throwing arm

Texans this time....but now throwing In a qb with no experience into the fire on the road vs. That D ? Feels like turnover city again for the Texans. Funny the line hasn't moved hardly at all with the qb change....

Here's what I'm thinkin. The Texans players could no longer believe that Schaub (The Homer Simpson of NFL QB's) would get the job done for them. If, as a player, you don't believe in your QB getting the job done, how much are you going to bust your rear end for him? Now at least you have competence in Keenum (he majored in kinesiology-sports) and I think his teammates have been wanting this move for a VERY long time. Team sports are a game of human emotions just like the stock market. The stars are aligned for this this one and I believe they're saying buy Houston low and sell KC high. What does almost no line movement mean when it's announced that a near rookie is starting at QB for Houston? Gotta read the signs. It's kinda like being a smart investor on Wall Street.

You are correct quad. I did my write-up on Monday, but I am sticking to my guns with the Texans. I think the qb change provides a spark to a team in desperate need of one. He will still be getting all the first-team reps in practice and Kubiak wouldn't have made this move if the undrafted rookie wasn't impressive in camp. I also don't expect it to be on him to win this game. I think the pressure will be on the Texans defense and the Texans running game to deliver the goods. I will take my chances with the leagues #1 pass defense (based on yards per game) against Alex Smith, who struggled to get into any type of rhythm against the Raiders last week (14-31 w 128 yards).
BTW...Keenum can sling it!!! Are you fellow degenerates forgetting what this guy did as a Houston Cougar?? He is the all time leader in FBS history with over 19,000 yards and a 150 TDs.

See, I see it more like a horse race with a well trained and conditioned first time starter....
Do we have the next "Zenyatta"? Or does he throw the rider at the gate. I think that's what's keeping the line where it is - nobody knows what to expect from this kid. Plus, the Chiefs are playing the #1 ranked "D" - so there's that factor, too.
Sure, Keenum was a stud.... IN COLLEGE...... But, is he ready for the next level? First time start? In this stadium? Against this team?
I'm gambling "not"
We'll see..... We'll see if W8Lifter takes out a second mortgage on his house and bets it on the Texans this week - I'm also gambling even he won't risk it....
HA!!!!!! - Good Luck Guys!!!!!!!!!!

I know I talked some junk in here, but I haven't placed any real money on this game yet, but out of respect, I'm abstaining from this particular game. I don't think Wade will be in to coaching this #1 "D" - - or he just absolutely goes sick. Either way, I'm out on this one.......

This looks like the Perfect Storm if you ask me.......
You have a 6-0 (5-1 ATS) over rated KC team at home with a great defense and an increasingly questionable offense. You add a rapidly declining, beat down 0-6 ATS Texans team on the road after a terrible home loss. Just put the house on KC and cash your check right???
The public money is 79% on KC, and the Texans have a rookie QB driving Matt Schaub's Lamborgini for the day - but the line sits at 6.5?? Then you mix in the passing of a Houston legend who is also the D Coordinators father.....
KC is getting kudos every week for their strong defense (but they've played Jville, Oakland, NYG, Philly, Tennessee and a good Dallas team), yet the Texans defense is every bit as good, but they get no credit because their offense keeps giving games away (against the likes of Baltimore, Seattle, San Fran. and yes the STL debacle). Sure Arrowhead will be rocking and it will be tough for Keenum to deal with - right up until he hands the ball off to Foster and Tate who will wreak havoc on the 4.2 yds per carry avg. that KC is giving up. Keenum (who the players are fully behind) and the passing of Bum Phillips gives the Texans team the spark they need to play up to their potential. The fact that the Texans have a QB who can actually move (as opposed to Schaub) means that KC will have a harder time preparing for a different Texans offense. Houston wins this straight up heading into their bye week and Case Keenum will be the starting QB for Houston after this game. This should be the sucker bet of the week...You may not agree with me, but it is pretty obvious that Vegas does......
