Minnesota at Green Bay (11/14/2011)

Newbie here, my first post. Been checking out site for awhile and I would  like to thank all of you for the insightful and useful information on all the games, definately has helped me in my pool picks

as for tonights game, im taking the over with +13 for minny, GB should win SU but they give up a lot of garbage points

Lets see. 
Offense:
GB gives up about 400 yards per game. (100 rush / 300 pass)
Minn gives up about 368 yards per game. (94 rush / 274 pass)

Defense:
GB gains about 416 yards per game. (104 / 312 pass)
Minn gains about 332 yards per game. (150 / 182 pass)

Looks like a high scoring game and doesn't look like either team can stop each other.  It will be more like who can slow down who better.  AP had a big game last time they met.  It was Ponder's first start.  In Ponders second game he looked a whole lot better.

Notes:
Rodgers has been sacked 4 times each in the last 2 games.
Ponder has been sacked 4 and 2 times each the last 2 games.
GB D has 16 Int for the year vs Minn 6 Int for the year.

With all that said I will go with GB.  The main reason is that I am going to base it on Ponders LAST 2 STARTS.  All other stats won't help since it was Mcnabb.

GB has given up a lot of points the last 2 weeks.  Ponder is getting better but not good enough to keep up with GB.  Adrian Peterson would be the only reason Minn will be in this game and I know GB is out to stop him.  If GB can keep AP limited, Ponder should be forced to throw a lot or sacked.  I can't say that GB is a forsure play on D because the last 2 weeks has been bad defensively.

We all watch games and bet on them so we watch and play with a spread that we go by.  All it takes is a sack here and a dropped pass there and there you go... GB could be kicking FG all day.

Rodgers is 21-26 and 24-30 completion his last 2 games.  That's scary.  That's Peyton Manning or Tom Brady like in their "prime."  Even with Rodgers getting sacked 4 times each in the last 2 of his games, he took it in stride and made great plays.  I wonder how many of those passes was done during pressure and hurried?

I know Minn had a close game but that was because GB was limited to 2 FG in that first half and sloppy plays by GB and of course the first 74 yarder by Jenkins.

Things will change with GB this second chance.  I am "Betting" on it.

GREEN BAY PACKERS -4.0 and OVER 40.5 on a 9 point tease. The PACK are 6 and 2 against the spread. I know, three weeks ago it was 33 to 27 in MINNESOTA, but Dom Capers will be better prepaired for Ponder this time. PETERSON is the best running back in the NFL. I hate to see him squandered away on a bad team like BARRY SANDERS did on the LIONS. I do think the VIKES will play well but the PACKERS win by 7 to 12 points, and this things flys well over the number. The OVER has hit 6 out of the last 7 times they have faced each other.

Taking a chance here just by the numbers..

Packers @ home in the first half avg 26.7 ppg as their opponent avg 12.3 in the first half.

Vikings on the road in the first half avg 10.2 ppg and the home team 14 points ppg in the first half.

For those of you playing the over on the final...

Packers @ home avg 38 ppg and the road team and avg of 20 ppg

Vikings on the road 17 ppg and their home opponent an avg of 26.5 ppg....also makes you think the play is on the Packers to cover the number..

GB has been a DD favorite four times.  They covered against St, Louis and Denver (not exactly great competition) and lost ATS to Minny and Carolina.  Vikings have been showing up since Ponder took over, so I'm guessing that they show some life tonight.  Thirteen is just too many to lay in the NFL...
