its all good zoro im giving my 2 cents like everyone else, if im wrong im wrong.
come on though, your saying that EVERYONE with a right mind didn't bank on: Panthers Bears Giants
For Example my picks this weekend: 10/05/08 Bears (Chicago) -3.5 13:05 ET 10/05/08 Cardinals (Arizona) -1.5 16:20 ET 10/05/08 Dolphins (Miami) +6.5 13:05 ET 10/05/08 Chargers (SanDiego) Under 44.5 13:05 ET Dolphins (Miami) 10/05/08 Panthers (Carolina) -9.5 13:05 ET 10/05/08 Giants (NewYork) -7 13:05 ET 10/05/08 Titans (Tennessee) -3 13:05 ET (+105) 10/06/08 Saints (NewOrleans) -3 20:40 ET
You just don't hit teams like that these days, which makes me believe something is fishy with the lines this week. Saints are just the icing on the cake.
why is it that I don't believe that those we're your bets this weekend????? the fact that your on the Saints is making me consider my bet.....
might just go with the OVER...... don't need a mush on the Saints tonight

Saints should score with passing /running combo...Vikes can score only with running game...Saints have beat up D...Vikes D is beat up because too many 3 and out by the Offense, very frustrating..... However, (I do and you can tell by the line) that the linesmakers fell that the VIKES D will step it up on prime time.... They still have no QB and no Receivers..OVER is scary...though all MNF has been over. Conflicting data here...early lean is on Saints 1/2 and whole.

Can Minnesota turn this game into a slugfest? I think Drew Brees could
overwhelm the Vikings defense tonight by spreading them out. My play would have to
be on the Saints.

I like Minnesota straight up, but I am playing a 2 team teaser. Minnesota +10 and over 39.5. Check my posts, these teasers are working. Oh yeah, check the overall rank as well. 359 on total plays on this site. Take the Vikings and the over!

From StatFox.com: "Fade any Monday night football team that lost against the spread on the road last week when their opponent covered the number at home. This easy to understand system is 18-6, 75 percent the last dozen seasons."
While these systems boil away the use of "gut instinct" and "the eyeball test", they do have their merits over the long term as trends do seem to develop over a period of time FOR A REASON. I am having a hard time being completely objective as I am a huge Vikings fan and we badly need this one.
All that said, I have that gut feeling that the Vikes are going to get it done because the Saints have been notorious over the last 3 years with Drew Brees for getting hot in 2 game stretches then going ice cold offensively - which is all this team has since its defense is a complete sieve and is missing key players. The Vikes were in last week's game until a late turnover against one of the best defenses in the league and have been very competitive in all their games and have literally been a play or two away from covering and/or getting the SU win(s). So..... 3 plays:
Vikes +3
7PT TEASER: VIKES +10 OVER 39.5
PROP BET: Neither team will score 3 consecutive times w/out the other team scoring (conversions excluded): +180
I see a very competitive, physical game in which the Vikings defense is predictably stout and Brees is limited in his effectiveness, especially with the deep ball against which the Vikes have been very effective w/the Vikings winning 24-20. Feedback definitely welcome!!!

Breakabookie - I see you are on the Saints; pretty slim line (basically the home field advantage) - are you seeing a blow out? Also, what are your feeling about teasers? I like them in certain spots where value can be increased on an already dangerous underdog and/or making an already attainable over an even softer number.

Taking the Saints in this one. Saints can't stop the pass, but good news is that the Vikings are a running team. Deuce is back, and while he may not be 100%, just him being out there helps the team out mentally, especially Reggie. Like the Saints to win a high scoring game in the Dome by a TD. SAINTS 30 VIKINGS 23
SAINTS -3 (3 units)

When playing teasers, I sometimes use simulated game scores from sites like StatFox and AccuScore - I have found these to be a decent gauge of the type of game which will be played although adjustments should be made for injuries, recent performance, individual matchups, etc. I used this as part of my last play last night which I hit on: PITT +12.5, OVER 31. This is part of what makes me like this teaser so much tonight; everything seems to be pointing to a fairly competitive game (Vikes stay w/in 10 pts) and both teams getting to 20

I think Minnesota covers here. I know dencol doesn't like this, but most of the public is on New Orleans and the line hasn't budged. Seems like a red flag to me.
Vikings +3.5 (1/2 pt buy because I never leave it on a hook number)

Saints defense is missing 4 key defensive players, 2 DB's - but most notably Sedrick Ellis. I can't help but be skeptical of a team which is basically one dimensional on offense and does not possess any of the elements i.e. stingy defense which can stop the run, running game to control the tempo of the game. Vikings looking better and better to be by the minute. Additionally, Saints are 6-17 ATS the last 3 seasons (Drew Brees time as QB w/current coaching staff) after scoring 25 or more points in 2 straight games - kind of ties back to my earlier comment(s) about their inconsistencies

I am on the Saints mainly because of the Home Field atmosphere in that stadium.... and just like was said by gobigblue4ever, the Saints can't stop the pass, but aren't bad against the run.... they now have Jonathan Vilma.... but The Vikings are one of the best run-stopping teams in the league.... So I just can envision tosses to the outside to Bush and little checkdowns by Drew Brees to the safe short throw.... mix a little duece in there and the viking defense will be on their heels.... I can see the saints relying on spreading out the Viking D.... but I do not see a blowout.... Adrian Peterson will keep it from being a blowout.... but I think Gus Frodo will not be able to win this game on the road in that kind of atmosphere.... no matter what the Saints are putting up points.... ... I am only taking the OVER becuase of the trend, which has hit ever week so far (that is OVER ON MNF)....
I would not tease this game..... I like as you said to add a cushion to an Underdog, or make the OVER a softer play.... but while getting 3 i wouldn't take the Vikes and the over in a tease becuase if the Vikes win it will be because their defense dominates and would then be a low scoring game.... If you HAVE to tease, I would make the SAINTS the underdog and take the OVER....
I really only tease when there is a HOME DOG playing a team not in the TOP 5 power rankings and giving them a double digit Spread.... but I like reverses better than TEASES
HOPE I CAN HELP.... GOOD LUCK TO ALL........
oh and kireiricky.... the saints are a home favorite not a home dog tonight

WOW!!! Maybe I looked @ it wrong but when I last looked @ the 3 consecutive scores prop bet last night it was +180, placed it a few minutes ago @ +140. Still like the payout though... BreakaBookie - good points. Bottom line: it seems like we are both envisioning a fairly tight ball game but we just don't quite agree on who will be able to impose their will and dictate the tempo. Tempo will be EVERYTHING; if Minnesota can control the clock (I think they can and will), NO will not be able to establish rhythm and we'll see MIN get a small lead and grind it out in the 4th quarter w/NO making a late push.
Interesting stat to watch as the game unfolds: Minnesota has lost 40 straight games when trailing entering the fourth quarter dating back to that 1997 Wildcard game against the Giants when they won after recovering the late onside kick. So if MIN is on the wrong side of it entering the 4th......

Saints have a more balanced offensive attack and SHOULD move the ball well... but their defense is banged up and full of holes which could spell trouble if AP and Gus get on a hot streak against New Orleans 29th-ranked pass defense in a MUST WIN game. The latter part of that is a VARIABLE I do not want to play against so I'm leaving the spread alone on this one tonight. On the flip-side, Brees is going to have to air it out if he wants to get points on a stout Vikings run defense and he has the weapons to do it. If anything, I'll take Saints -1.5 at the half for the Superdome energy.
Over seems like the only play here for me.
OVER 46.5
