first time in the dungy era as a home dog. overall scenario unprecented. home field at stake probably. undefeated season possible for either team with the win.
pats are hungrier and usually have a better game plan vs peyton than the one against brady(o-line is nuts this year).
will watch and probably not bet it.

I am amazed that this thread is not on fire already. It will probably have hundreds of posts by the end of the week. Talk about a hyped game... but it is not false hype. This one is the real deal. Some are calling it the mid-season Super Bowl, and not without some logic behind it. Clearly the two best teams in the NFL right now, both undefeated, playing for home field advantage in the playoffs. While that alone is no deciding factor, it can be a big edge. But looking ahead, the weather has been so mild this fall, we cannot assume that there will be a snow bowl game in January, should it be held in Foxboro.
Back to this week... I've already put two units on NE -5.5. My guess is it goes a little higher, but probably not more than 6.5. LOTS of people making $$ on NE this year, and also the over in NE games. These bets are breaking bookies left and right.
Full disclosure, I live in NE, and am a Pats fan. I have plenty of respect for the Colts, who field a team that looks better than last year's Supa Bow winner. But the Pats are better too, in fact a lot better. Anything can happen here, but it's just too hard to lay off a team that is just an off-the-charts money machine, 8-0 ATS.
What's most interesting to me is these two teams appear to have flip-flopped in style. Peyton won his first ring when he started playing like Tom Brady, and the Colts morphed into the Patriots, winning with game management and solid defense, not overly flashy. Meanwhile Tom and the Pats are on pace to break Peyton's records, among others.
The Colts have won the last three meetings, so it's not like the Pats will come in overconfident, despite their strong start. They have not shown they can stop them of late. But I see them doing it this time.
More to follow later...

Im liking the OVER in this one should be a shoot out Brady to Moss should be good for 2 scores Manning will toss a couple or he might throw a couple NE's way.
I like that NE's D to rattle Manning get him calling those audibles running all over the place then toss up a couple picks and maybe NE D can get a few scores (jmo)
OVER
NE small wager

Should be an interesting game...more or less, the winner gets a two-game lead in the homefield race. Both teams will also have plenty of motivation...one thing to consider, Rodney Harrison was not there last year, nor was Adalius Thomas & Junior Seau. Its going to come down to special teams and turnovers.

The Pats will cover and the over will be a better play both teams will put points up,but although the Indy defense seems to have gotten better I don't think that their coners have seen anything that comes close to the recievers that the Patriots will put out there but the Pats defense is all ready seen what the Colts have in terms of there talent. New England 45 Colts 28

Brady will throw easy td passes all over the field to gain a lead and will start to run the ball more once they're ahead. Regardless whether or not they will be throwing or rushing the ball, the numbers to me show Patriots having more of the edge on this one.
If I were to even place a bet without looking at the numbers and basing it on what i've seen on the TV, I'd still have to roll with the Patriots. Not because they're my team, but because they play with grace. They really do make the game look so easy, while when I watch the Colts play or when I put my money on them, I actually have to bite down for a minute and get scared. Both teams rarely struggle, but I see more struggle in Indy than Pats.
Indy's a good team.. Pats are the better team.

WOW, what a bunch of shallow write ups already. These are easily the two best off and def teams, and ppl are predicting a 40-20 (ish) victory for the Pats. Did anyone consider the UNDER???
On another point, Pats are good, I'm not gonna take this away from them, but take into consideration the teams they have played. Their division sucks, big time, so 6 of their wins this season are against girl scout teams.
Indy plays in by far, the best division in the league, and toughest divisional games. Even Hou, which trails in last is a decent team.
Pats are riding way too high on their pedestal and are due for a reality check. They will finally stand against a worthy opponent. Of course, even if the Colts lose at home, it means nothing, Indy will crush them in the playoffs and claim ring #2

It doesn't make sense danstky. This person post should be disregarded. He is just trying to make himself feel better by writing that last sentence in case his team gets beat in this game. He should keep the bar talk in the bar and not on this site where people are trying to win some money.

I like how he said there were all shallow write-ups, and then he gives no reason why Indy will win except their division is better. Something that the Patriots clearly have a say over. Indy plays in a very solid division, no doubt. The Colts have basically played a bunch of .500 teams, while the Pats have played both ends of the spectrum, with San Diego and Dallas who will both be playoff teams mixed in with the Bills and Dolphins and Jets. Indy's defense has played pretty much nobody right now, with the best offensive team being Denver, who clearly is not as good as they once were. The Patriots have played 3 of the top 6 ranked offensive teams in the NFL (Dallas, Cincy, and Cleveland) and shut them down. The 2 top offensive teams that Indy have played has been Denver and Houston. They gave up over 20 points to both of them. As far as the offenses go, the Patriots clearly have the advantage. This may be the most dominant offensive team in the history of the NFL. Indy gave up 34 points to this team when they had no WR's and a rookie RB. Now they have Maroney healthy and a load of talent at WR including the best in the league with Moss. Special teams is pretty much a wash, neither team really relies on the kick or punt return. Pats have a better offense, a better overall defense, and the special teams are a wash. Coaching I'm also saying is equal for both teams, although for a game plan Belichek dominates the crap out of Dungy. Big advantage for the Colts is the home-field advantage, but I don't think it's going to be enough to stop the runaway train that is the Patriots.

Every week since week 1 it's always the same thing, but I can't believe the Patriot Haters haven't posted anything juicy yet?! And all the B.S. about Running Up The Points against the Skins...ummm this is the NFL right? Oh wait I have a {{{Crazy}}} idea, if you don't like the score run up that high, ummm Stop It! What's that ole' chant I hear in the distance "D-Fence" boom boom "D-Fence" Patriots are out on a Mission the Season, the Spygate thing Fueled a Raging Machine. It's like trying to put a Fire out with Gasoline! There 3 Superbowl Victories came into question, and now there showing The World they need no Video Tape to kick your Ass!
I'm a Huge Patriots Fan, but I also have Mad Respect for the Colts. But you can't ignore the Insane Talent on the Pats side of the coin. Everybody's Healthy
I have made ridiculous coin on the Pats so far this season, I've been cut off by two Bookies
Pats will come up with a Big Victory here. And why in God's name did Coach D give the Colts this Monday & Tuesday off? (heard it on ESPN, from Coach D himself)
I got the line at Pats -5 I really wanna bet the House here, but like I said, I respect the Colts, so I dropped 2 Dimes on the Game, and 1 dime on the over. Even a total loss here would still leave me with 5 times that bet in the Bank!
GL All -
Pats - 38
Colts - 24

I cannot believe I'd ever see the day where the number two team(maybe 1 so no nasty responses)) in the country and the SB champ(undefeated this year) is getting 5.5/6 at HOME. That is freakin nuts and what is crazier is that NE probably covers but I wouldnt be surprised with a 3 pt from either side.

i cant even spell unprecedented.

I took the Pats -4 last week at the Hilton for this game and got them -5 yesterday morn at the Mirage and I can easily see this line going to 7 by kickoff, probably 8+ back home with the Boston area books. I never like a line moving more than 1 from the open because the public is usually wrong, but this team may just blow all theories and logic out the window. Vegas is telling us that at a neutral site the Pats would be a touchdown + favorite against the defending Super Bowl champions who have a 12 game win streak going!!!!!
And I can't shake from my mind that first half egg laid by Indy last week against a Testaverde led offense. (were they looking ahead? the Patriots clearly weren't) Vinny dictated almost the entire first quarter and it may have been a much different outcome if he didn't throw that interception in the endzone in the second quarter and was able to play the second half. (I think they took him out so he could make the early bird special at Denny's) Anyway, Indy backers can't feel good about that. Indy clearly showed their ability and talent in the second half (and I'm aware they didn't have Harrison) but they can't afford to have a repeat performance like that against these Patriots. If Indy gets behind then this game is going way over. This Patriot team is unlike anything the NFL has seen in quite sometime. It's not that they are running up scores as much as it's they can't help themselves, they have just been getting that much better week by week (one of Belichick's mantra's).
I'm going to be looking for the prop lines of -10.5 and
-14.5 for the Pats. I'm that confident. They are tough to find so if anyone living in Vegas sees those props, please post where. I'd appreciate it and so would my wallet.

I have already placed a bet on this game, but I just thought about it some more and I'm now worried.
This is obviously not the Colts team of yesteryears. They don't put up phenomenal points like they use to. This being said, Dungy knows that the Pats are an offensive powerhouse. After saying this, won't he want to keep them off the field? Is he not going to put Addai to work most of this game in hopes of keeping the score low enough to be in striking distance?
I see this play out 2 ways.
Pats get ball 1st score, and then we have the over
or
Colts get ball first and start running the clock down.
Let me know what some of you guys are thinking. I know that both teams can easily score 30's but Dungy didn't win the SB by being a moron. He might try paying this one smart. The only way to stop the Pats from scoring is to keep them off of the field.

Go with your Gut on this one Chris You make some valid points, and I give the Colts a lot of respect. Your right the only way to keep the Pats from scoring is to keep them off the field, that's a good planning attack, but now the Colts have to Execute it, and that my friend is a hard task for any defence to do for 60 minutes of this Caliber Football Team! Like I said in my earlier post, the Pats have made me a Ridiculous amount of Scratch so far this Season, I didn't shoot the whole Wad here, but I made a couple Healthy Bets.
Good luck bro, I'm sure you'll be fine

I like your points chris. I think that is a good game plan for Indy to do and keep the Pats off the field to keep them from scoring.. but what if that's not possible?
I agree with rockn4u, go with what you feel comfortable putting your money on. I'd hate for you to play a team and watch the game under confident of your bet, I've lost some good plays because of that sometimes. You've got plenty of time to think this one out. GL chris

I LOVE the Patriots in this one... They , to me, are the best team I have ever seen in the NFL. They are dominant in every aspect of the game and with the fact that Bill "Belichip" has a personal vendetta to CRUSH every team they face does not help the Colts no matter where the game is played. I LOVE the Patriots in this one... They , to me, are the best team I have ever seen in the NFL. They are dominant in every aspect of the game and with the fact that Bill "Belichip" has a personal vendetta to CRUSH every team they face does not help the Colts no matter where the game is played. They have way too many weapons. Double digit victory - and a winning ticket.
