Tough first game of the season for the Dolphins. The O-line for the Dolphins last season was horrendous giving up over 50 sacks. Some of the sacks were also due to Tannehill holding on to the ball too long. The O-line is better this season not great but a little better. With the help of Bill Lazor Tannehill looked much better than last season as far as making better decisions and getting rid of the ball quicker.
The Dolphins really need to establish the running game against the Pats to open up the passing. The duties will be shared with Miller and Moreno. Moreno played one pre-season game this season due to injury. He did look solid in that one game but I'm still skeptical about him.
The Dolphins defense tackled terribly in the first game of the pre-season but did improve in the games after. I'm hoping that they fixed that issue. The strength of the defense is in the d-line the linebackers are about average at best.
Sturgis has been nursing an injury and barely played in the pre-season. I'm not sure if he will be a 100% in this game but if this one comes down to kicking a winning field goal I would be really worried.
Anyway the Dolphins did beat the Patriots once last season so I'm hoping they can do it again in this game.

Miami is 2-5-1 ats and su the last 8 games on opening day. They always open up on the road so that explains the record but even then the only two games they hosted at home have been losses. Several years ago Patriots trounced the Dolphins at home on opening day 38-14. Now not saying history repeats itself but if the Dolphins run defense has improved from last year and if they can get the running game going they may have a chance to make this close. Most of all they need to get pressure on Brady. How's the Miami offensive line looking this season? Will the new look Miami no huddle offense they've talked about doing be an effective strategy?
I'll give Miami the benefit of the doubt that they can try and do what Buffalo did last season and almost upsetted the Pats. Funny thing is Tom Brady has covered and won every opening game in his career except when playing against Buffalo: I think 0-4 all time.
