One of my favorite coaches of all time.......Jim Johnson helped make the Eagles one of the most feared defenses in the league over the last decade. If you had a quarterback without any mobility, it was going to be a long day for you if you coundn't run.
I like the Eagles here with Macklin, McCoy and Kolb on the field for most of the second and third quarters. I think they present problems for the second and third stringers from NE. Brady and the boys will lead by the half, Philly will win a close, low scoring game at the end. 17-14. Something like that. I also like the (U). I would probably take Philly in the outright win over the under though. It could blow up early with all the playmakers on the field in the first 15 minutes.......but it's the first game for both teams......I doubt that will be the case.

OK maybe I was too quick to call an Eagle victory here. Looking at how these two coaches approach the pre-season makes me think, that regardless of what happened Belichick takes these games more seriously than Reid. New England wins this one SU.

RIP Jim Johnson you were one of the best.....you will be missed. Eagles win this one for JJ
Was a shock to hear this and there's no doubt he was the commander in chief of that stiff D....made it what it was for yrs. I wonder if the Eagles D steps it up even in preseason. I like the under here anyway so I think a tease on either team and the under should cover.

Reid doesn't give a shit about
pre-season, especially the first game as he typically uses the first
game to gain film footage on his players. Eagles are banged up all
over the place and will be looking not to do anymore injury damage to
themselves. Kolb will not play leaving the Eagles with Feeley and
nobody. The Pats will give Brady some time to figure it out and then
he will be replaced by two pre-season veterans in O'Connell and
Walter. O'Connell has massive kudos from the NE coaching staff and
Walter used to start for the Raiders. They should tear up any scrubs
Reid puts in there for film purposes.
Bellichek wants to get off on a winning foot after the bitter ending to last season and he will want to win this one.
NE +3 is the play.

If the Eagles were playing any other team I would be taking the Eagles. Playing the over, well that's risky especially in a pre-season game. GL buckeye. Beware of those ruthless Patriots.

New England +3 -125 --- I dont think PHI is going to score a TD on the first series, and with the Eagles O-line and HB banged up the way they are, I dont think they score more then 10 points tonight...For NE, this is Brady's first game back...I think he see's at least two series before they pull him...After that, theres O'connell and Guttieriez, and in my opinion, I would rather have them finsihing the 2/3/4 quarters then what PHI has... I think the players on NE are going to play harder tonight then PHI. Reid doesnt really care about winning Pre-season games, and his players know that...Theres just something about the Patriots that when you put on that uniform, there really a no nonsense team...And they expect perfection...Now, im not saying PHI doesnt, but i do think the NE shows up, and so do there 2nd/3rd stringers...and they play harder then PHI guys do.
Now, I could be wrong with every thing I just said, or I could get screwed by some idiot taking a safety in the last 8 seconds, but I think NE takes care of business...

This is my bet for this game:

Jim Johnson was a beast. That being said I like the Pats. Brady will play at least 2 series and he wants to show everyone he's back to his old self. PATS +3
