All over the Jets here.  Remember what happend when Rex Ryan faced Miami last year?  He knows how to shut this wildcat down by blitzing straight up the field and not moving sideline to sideline when players are in motion.  He has the defense to do this again. The Jets bascially shut down New Orleans last week and now face Chad Henne...The only dolphins success story this year is a blow out of my pathetic Buffalo Bills. Jets -2.5

OK.....I wasn't sure which way to go on this one at first.  I've read this entire thread and appreciate all the insight from all the contributors.  Upon further review..........I am going to side with the JETS, and here is the main reason why...


If you noticed from yesterday, the parity in the league is not as tight as it has been in previous years.  The good teams are winning handily, and the bad teams are really bad.  There is a definite distinction between the Giants, Vikings, Colts of the NFL versus the Raiders, Bills and Rams of the NFL.

This being said..........I wouldn't worry so much about the point spread in this one.  Bottom line.....who is the better team in this game?  Based on record, and level of competition played thus far, I'll have to side with the JETS.  Their defense has been strong, and they have only lost to the Saints (arguably the best team in the NFL to this point).   Question mark for the Fins with Henne starting....they are very dependent on their run game....their receivers aren't exactly first class, and to me anyway...their game is predictable.

We'll see what happens, but I'm going to make a medium sized play on

Will the Jets defense be as effective blitzing if Miami is in their wildcat formation? They are doing an awful lot of blitzing from the corners and if Miami breaks one tackle it's in the house...
 
It is hard to throw those blitz packages against that formation and not get burned. If they blitz up the gut, even Henne can check off and see that coming. Ricky Williams is a good blocker picking up the blitz...
 
Live and die by the blitz. Brees proved they could be beat and if Henne has time to dump off and check down I like Miami's chances here. It's much harder to blitz a running back than a QB with the ball.
 
Jets have a rookie QB as well last time I checked, I bet the Miami defense has a few wrinkles for him as well. This could be a very frustrating game for either side...
 
I am leaning to the over simply because mental mistakes by both QB's should equal scoring opportunity. Good Luck

Maybe overthinking it but I think a tired Jets defense will give up some big plays in the 2nd half....

Will be looking to make a play on the over in the second half.

Classic 'cappers like the Monday Night home dog. With divisional rivals, they like the home dog. But trends don't decide the outcome of any particular game. ("On any given Sunday...or Monday...") But I've got a variation. Take Miami first half, take Jets for the game. The logic here is Miami comes out fired up by the crowd, and keeps it close for a half. (See Colts game.) Then in the second half, with the pass rush and coverage tiring, Sanchez gets hot, and puts the game away.
