San Diego's meeting times and practice Thursday were moved up in an attempt to adjust players' body clocks to the Eastern time zone in advance of Sunday's 10 a.m. PDT game in Buffalo.
“Some of the guys mentioned it to me,” coach Norv Turner said. “I've never done it. But if this will help us ”
Teams from the Pacific time zone going to the Eastern or Central time zones are 46-126 since 2002 – 27-65 to the East and 19-61 to the Central. (That includes all games, not just 10 a.m. PT starts.) Of the five Pacific teams (including Arizona), the Chargers actually have the best record going east – 11-10 to the Eastern time zone and 3-9 to the Central.
But the Chargers have started out slow in quite a few games this season and were especially lethargic early in Miami two weeks ago.
“It definitely hurts us,” safety Clinton Hart said. “Sometimes your body doesn't get up until 11 or 11:30. By that time, it's midway through the second quarter.”
Not all players were thrilled with the early starting time for meetings (7 a.m. with some doing treatment and lifting before). That's about an hour earlier than usual. But they felt getting up early and practicing early – on the field at 10 a.m., the same time as Sunday's kickoff – would be beneficial.
“It's going to help a lot of guys,” linebacker Stephen Cooper said. “The bottom line is we've got to be ready to play. The way we've started off games dictated this decision.”
They will practice at 10 a.m. Friday and leave for Buffalo in the early afternoon.

San Diego is flying East after CRUSHING the Pats last Sunday. Right after this game they fly to London. There's a lot of potential for them to sleep on Buffalo. Meanwhile Buffalo is off a horrible loss to AZ with 2 weeks to think about it. They will come ready to play at their home field this Sunday.

I heard it when I read it to myself. Jk. But seriously dude, why would Buffallo assume that they can't beat San Diego so they should get ready for Miami? Just a quick reminder that Miami beat San Diego. Remember that. Buffallo is better than Miami, playing at home, SD is flying East to play them (backwards 3 time zones) and flying to London after the game. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking your pick of SD, just the idea that Buffallo would lie down in this game to get ready for Jets/Dolphins. Doesn't make much sense to me.
Not trying to be a d+ck. I just don't follow the logic. Post legitimit ideas or lose credibility.

Both the Chargers and Bills enter this game in the thick of their respective division races, but also on different circumstances. Buffalo is well rested but is also coming off a lopsided loss, while San Diego is coming off a decisive win, although against a Tom Brady-less Pats club. The Chargers have historically had success versus the Bills in this series, but need to get to Edwards early to keep the quarterback out of rhythm coming off an injury. Though Rivers has been outstanding all year, this could finally be the week Tomlinson makes an impact, as long as he doesn't suffer a setback with his toe. Expect San Diego to head overseas with another solid win under its belt. Chargers 24, Bills 17
