I guess the line movement has to do with the Hurricane and not the action. If you're looking at this game from a straight football perspective, the Saints should win.

Saints, more like the '06 model than last years. Deuce is healthy, which helps Reggie Bush. They now have a threat at tight end. Saints gonna score in bunches this year...

I think the Saints are potentially the best team in the NFC. All the travel doesn't help any but I think it will be another emotional game, not as much as when they played Atlanta after Katrina, but still emotional.

due to some injuries in the Philly game this becomes my best bet...
NO defense will be much improved... but the scary thing is so will the offense... yes, TB has a very good defense, and Gruden is a good coach... but NO is a complete team on both sides of the ball, with probably the most potent offense in the league now... Bush, Colston, Shockey, Deuce, a very good line, possibly the 3rd best QB in Brees... and look for Meachem to make his mark this year, as well...
the line itself makes no sense... Saints homefield advantage is worth at least 4.5 points... so this line is suggesting that TB is the superior team, which they definitely are not!

The Saints are not as complete as people say they are ... Let them go deep into the playoffs and hold some veterans that can shake up their division. Then, and only then, can you say that they can cover this week 1 spread. I think the Bucs want it just as bad. Vegas has the line close for a reason. I think this line is ass backwards and we'll feel even worse for the Saints when they lose in week 1. The line does not suggest that Tampa Bay is a superior team - it just suggests that the powers to be know that this will be a week 1 dogfight - look at the matchups and previous battles. Don't use the Saints as you crutch this week - there's better $$$ out there.
Tampa Bay +3.5
good luck to all

Gonna roll with the Saints in this one. Question marks on defense, but hoping the offense can carry the load. Playing in the dome, it's gonna be loud and emotional. Buying a half a point too just in case.
Saints-3 (3 units)

This line doesn't make sense in my eyes. NO is a public sweet-heart and they are at home. Assuming Vegas sees this in purely football terms as an unproven Saints team vs. a strong divisional contender, then they set the line right, and aren't moving it either because they're not giving Saints backers any credit, or moving it off of -3 is just too big a risk. Assuming the saints are improved taking them to cover -3 might be a lean; but if you get +3.5 (OLG) there may be some historical value at least.
My heart says go saints, my head says stay away.
BOL either way

Garcia apparently has a jammed pinckey finger on his throwing hand and will be listed as probable. When Gruden was asked if it affects his throwing he defferred all those questions to Garcia- but I haven't heard a follow-up interview.

that's some good advice...
so let me understand what you are saying... what i should do is this: wait until the end of the year, and see if the Saints are really that great... find out if they can win some playoff games... and then come back and bet this game...
great idea!
OR... you could not be two steps behind the game, which is what separates losing bettors from winning bettors... and instead of getting to the end of the year and saying, "Gee, i sure wish i had been all over the Saints this year", you can anticipate what is going to happen, using your "football expertise", and you can be on the right side of the game before it starts... instead of at the end of the season, when the sportsbooks generally don't accept retro-active wagers...

1) Giants (don't even start... if you watched them last night you know this is the best team in the NFC... still!)
2) NO Saints... easily the 2nd best QB in the NFC (maybe 1st?)... more offensive talent than any team in the NFL... and some great defensive additions...
3) Minnesota... best offensive line in the NFL... best defensive line in the NFL... best RB in the NFL... if Jackson can be middle of the road, they win the division running away...
4) Philly... with a healthy McNabb they are a very dangerous team... he will need his top 2 WRs to get healthy, and if they do, expect Jackson to be very Welker-like coming out of the slot for Donovan...
5) Dallas... man... trust me... this team is going to disappoint this year... they will be a wildcard at best...
i will get a lot of heat for this list... but not if you come back at the end of the year... this is the way it is...

the NFC power structure is as follows this year:
1) Giants (don't even start... if you watched them last night you know this is the best team in the NFC... still!)

this is one of those games you are better off not touching. either team is capable of pulling off a victory. saints are overrated at home. bucs are underrated on the road. might parlay bucs ml on a small ticket...
AND TO ALL OF U MINDLESS NIMRODS, PLEASE STOP PREACHING ABOUT THE SAINTS!!!

Not the best play of the weekend, but as a lifelong Saints fan, I have always had the pulse of this team.
Last season, for this game, I bet on the Bucs both times.
I am in no way a homer.
This week is different. Saints, minus Hollis Thomas, are 100% and have massive additions on defense. Deuce is healthy (cross fingers) and Bush is determined. Meachem is finally ready to go and Shockey will want to strut his stuff. The Saints' defense could shock this season with the new additions and will definitely be a new-look for the Bucs and everyone else they face this season.. Garcia and Galloway are banged up, but will play no doubt.
Gustav has added an even stronger fire to the city and the team. Team reports from Tuesday had the team saying it was ready to go back home to win one for the city. This Saints team was already ready punish the Bucs before Gustav, now....?..........look-out.
Saints win by 8+ and put an early mark on the season.
