You already know the drill. Take the Eagles-5.5 or less. Washington upsets Dallas as a big underdog. The Eagles lose on national television in a game they were favored in. The Eagles get a line in this game (-5.5 neatly between the key numbers allowing room for corrections)that has bettors scratching their heads considering the feat that Washington just pulled off. Bettors take the Skins in droves. Instead of the number going down it goes up. More people take the Skins. The Eagles come out and pummel the Skins. I win. You lose. It's the NFC East. Nothing makes sense.
Philadelphia -5.5

I tend to agree with you here. Like you said both of last week's games lead people to believe the line should be the other way around. If Westbrook is ready to go the Eagles should win. Redskins are ready for a letdown, and this is a very attractive line with them getting 5.5

I was leaning Skins, but after reading Watch's post, I am not so sure. I've already lost enough money on the Eagles though, so I'll have to lay off of this game. GL

Anyone who isn't in the locker room should never anticipate a letdown. It is fantasy to have that kind of mindset. I think the "Washington letdown people" are bookmakers trying to attract money onto Philadelphia.

Realize that the NFL has a secret rule of thumb...A LET DOWN ALWAYS FOLLOW A WIN OFF OF A RIVALRY GAME...or at least typically. "WIN" is the key statement.
Case in point:
Eagles beat in state rivals Steelers...lose following week to Bears.
Redskins beat cowboys...WILL LET DOWN AGAINST EAGLES.
Heck, I thought the Eagles played better against Dallas than Wash did, it was just that the Boys played a whole lot better against Philly. Not to mention, look at what Wash did before the Dallas game:
Lost to the Giants, and looked AWFUL doing it.
Squeeked past the Saints with two LATE scores at home.
Beat Zona by 7 at home.
Not much exitement.
I'm a big Giants fan, and I hate to say it...but Eagles win much the same way they bit Pitt.

washington will have a letdown? are you serious? where do you all come up with this stuff? this team is on a roll and gaining confidence. its not much of a deal beating over rated over hyped dallas anyway. meanwhile philly is struggling. their key weapon westbrook is probably out again and mcnabb is banged up too. the only way to go on this game is washington but i appreciate everyone betting philly and driving the line up for me. thanks.

why did Washington Beat Dallas??? I believe it was Clinton Portis running all over that defense therefore giving Campbell the chance to play..... if they can't establish that running game again, then Campbell is going to have to carry the team, which even though he is playing outstanding as of late, he will not be able to do against Philly....
Philly will stop the run..... and with Westbrook back will put up points...
I like Philly laying the chalk........ BUT..... whenever these teams play it is usually a close matchup....
as of now Philly -5.5 but that is only if Westbrook is playing.... he is an X factor.

<<<<< In my book, "Letdowns" are assumptions made by amateurs who ain't got nothin' else and wouldn't know where or how to look for it.
I agree peppy - Just because the Skins played a great game in the big D and come out with a big W, they will automatically "let down" this week? That is such an amatuer hour statement.
I'll take the Skins +5.5 here all day, with or without Westbrook in the game, forget covering the Skins will bring home a W here.
For you Philly folks, at least Hamels threw a gem for you last night!

SKINS +6 dont sleep the skins this year , they have playmakers and have a smart QB thats not making alot of mistakes, there running game is solid... this was my sleeper team this year and i really think they are going to continue to suprise people and get better...ill take those points in a divisional game , wont be suprised if it comes down to a game winning field goal in this game by either team

Philly is gonna be sky high in this one boys. I can understand getting upset at Chicago without Westbrook......but they own the skins over the last decade and won't go to 2-3.......the Skins will go to 3-2......Seattle will upset the Giants in a stunner and the Cowboys don't cover the chalk in thier game. The whole division will be one game outta first place.......the way it should be in the East.

Irisheyez, congrats on Pitt ML the other night, i took balt and the points.....
Once again I completely agree with your cap on this game..... Philly flies with Westbrook....... and if you check out the other post I was on Seattle ML all week so far but Im thinking I should be safe and just take the 7 point gift.....
but as far as this game, I believe that Philly played a different Dallas team that showed up against the Redskins.... the playcalling wasn't good at all..... I'm not discrediting wash's win, they played great, and portis was a beast, but the cowboys blew that game....
I think that IF (and i hate IFs) Westbrook had been playing, different game in Chicago, but DA BEARS are always tough at home..... but this week the EAGLES are back HOME.... this is WASH second game on the road.... flew to dallas to wash then going to philly....
as far as Westbrook playing...... this is courtesy of my best injury report website ..... yahoo sports fantasy football....
Oct 2 Westbrook practiced for the second consecutive day Thursday after sitting out last week with an ankle injury sustained in a Week 3 win over Pittsburgh.
Advice: Westbrook's participation was again limited, but his coaches were encouraged with his progress. "He looked better," offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg said. "He went through the walk through this morning and looked better. He's day to day, and we'll see."
Oct 2 Les Bowen, of the Philadelphia Daily News, reports Philadelphia Eagles RB Brian Westbrook (ankle) left practice early by design Thursday, Oct. 2. The Eagles wanted to limit his reps.

Las Vegas Insider has the consensus as 68% on the Washington side and 32% for the Eagles. Yet the line went up from -5.5 to -6. i am getting the kind of movement on my wager that i desired. As far as the moneyline of -260 is concerned it is spot on for a spread of -6. No matter how i look at it, this wager makes perfect sense and is shaping up to be a good play on the Eagles.
