Welcome back gentlemen!
Hope you all had a fantastic holiday season, I know I did. This season brings about much change for me personally as I will be moving from the New England area down to the Florida Gulf Coast to pursue my golfing career aspirations!
Last year was a tremendous success in the Covers Golf Contest...and I hope to bring even more excitement and competition into this year's contest.
The biggest issues with last year was the penalty of missed weeks and the solid picks in the majors. Here's a few ideas I've been kicking around in my head....
Only allowed 5 missed weeks...but a missed week is also worth a +5
Double points still stick in the majors, however it's also a bonus system for the top 10 in which 1st place gets a -10 added to the score, -9 for 2nd place, -8 for 3rd place and so on. Therefore it penalizes those who miss the cut in majors, and incentivizes those who finish in the top 10 of a major.
The "regular" season will last from the Farmers Insurance Open starting on January 23rd and run 31 total weeks until the Wyndham Championships. The top 8 regular season finishers will make it to the much heralded "FINALS"...in a bracket format...1 vs 8, 2 vs 7 etc....
You are allowed to pick each golfer ONCE and only ONCE during the regular season. You must pick TWO golfer per week for each of the 31 regular season weeks for a grand total of 62 golfers selected.
If there are any other suggestions...please make them here and I will consider them greatly. I know the two biggest issues last year were the missed week's penalty and the double points with the majors being not as great for a higher scoring major (British, US).
As usual, I hope we have a ton of interest in the contest, and I'm excited to see what is possible this year!

I like the idea with the majors. I mean yeah it sucks sometimes, but hey, you just need to pick better. Looking forward to making a comeback and getting back to the playoffs this year.
